In t ere s t s & A c h i e v e m en t s RIBA Yorkshire Awards 2016 I was nominated by my University to represent it for the RIBA Yorkshire Award. I was one of two students from the entire university and I felt honored to represent the prestige of my university. RIBA president’s award nomination 2015 I was put forward to represent my university in the world renowned presidents medals. Lifeguard qualification After years of swimming and training for my swimming team the opportunity to become a lifeguard was a logical step. The training accentuated the importance of responsibility and teamwork. Leeds Beckett Water-polo Team Becoming part of the University water-polo team was a greatly rewarding experience. Our team won the UPolo Cup 2012-13 Photography Photography and graphics have shaped the way I look at space. In my design I like to capture and reflect emotion, just like my photography. 3d Printing club During my final year I persued creativity in new materials and 3d printing, this entailed 3d printing fundamentals and maintenance.

I am an aspiring architect, artist, and designer who honed my skills in Leeds, gaining a first class degree and the recognition of Leeds Beckett University to represent the Student submission for the RIBA Presidents Medals and RIBA Yorkshire awards. After graduating I spent a year living in Amsterdam where I worked for an architects practice designing a university campus using reclaimed shipping containers. As well as gaining valuable insight into professional fields of architecture I also collaborated with artists and designers in Amsterdam, exploring ideas of personal and cultural identity in relation to architecture.

I have recently returned from working with an architecture collective called Campo in Rome where we explored theoretical texts written by architects and produced visualizations and physical spaces which currently form part of an exhibition at their gallery in Rome and is due to be published as a catalogue shortly.

The work I produce is highly investigative and often explores abstract and philosophical ideas in the form of architecture. However, architecture for me is a fluid term, one that is still being defined and redefined. The joy in my work comes from the exploratory process of architecture, which often results in more interesting questions being raised beyond previous comprehension. My style of work is calculated and mapped out using Rhino and often hand rendered using pen and ink giving me the benefit of both new and traditional techniques. My final year project explored the Idea of activist groups taking control of space debris to form a port for interstellar trade. By mapping collision paths of space junk and documenting the social and political influences upon space debris I could develop a new language for design in orbit. The final outcome was a constantly altering cloud of junk processing that created new trade using the forgotten space parts. I have a passion for photography and have founded and managed photography collective for five years. The work I strive to capture is a humanistic relation to the communities and streets that surround me. In my spare time I am a competitive water polo player and live for travel in both my work and personal time.

Ca m p o G aller y R o m e After entering a competition, I was accepted to produce work as part of a theoretical workshop called “Nothing left to design” at the CAMPO gallery in Rome. We were pitched as a team to produce work based on the Memphis movement and combine it with a theoretical text. In particular we looked at “The planet as a festival” by Ettore Sottsass , a thought experiment where the human existed in a space without work. The work is to be published later this year. Our text called “morning space and time” by Odile Decq proposed the morning ritual as an individual experience that prepared us for our day. We imagined a world of the “morning” where the process of eating and bathing were gauged not by societal requirement but of pleasure and social integration. We broke down the tools of a morning and redesigned them to become adaptable to different behaviors. The “bed” as a space became a garden that separates us from the basic elements and also provided the provisions needed to style clothing and shape an identity for the day. and the Bathing space became a laberenth of possibilities, each leading down to a different bathing experience. Everything beyond that was the afternoon and yet to be decided. J ul i u s Ta m i n i au A r c h i t e c t s One of the Larger scale projects I helped to design was the University of Amsterdam Startup village. We worked in a tight knit studio environment so I had the chance to experience the design on a multitude of levels. The “STARTUP VILLAGE - AMSTERDAM SCIENCE PARK was designed to be affordable and resourceful. with the designs revolving around the conversion of shipping containers into a multipurpose office spaces with additional concert venues and eateries.

Blackpool and the anti monument. The idea of a monument long outlives the individual generations it represents. The ideas left behind are often nostalgic to times gone by or a particular regime. Beneath the idealized culture of Blackpool there has always been an underground trade. By representing this trade as an anti monument there could be a new understanding of the trades deemed seedy and dangerous. By designing a heroin factory I intended to take the idea of crime away from drug use and instead seek to purify dosage and regulate addicts.
