AD2.2 Heroin factory Blackpool's anti monument Jubal Green

Page 1

Blackpool has many faces but the underlying culture of drugs has run through the course of its time line. Poverty increasing and the drug use becoming a predominant problem means that the architecture becomes a responsive reaction to the area. Often represented by the nostalgia of monuments Blackpool has been miss-represented as a family friendly place. By creating an “anti monument to represent the underlying criminal cultures present the city can project new alternative views and representations. By creating a heroin factory It purifies the drug use and creates a to street drugs and provides an

safer alternative

manipulate perspective to the culture.

1 : The opium poppy is grown and harvested. 2 : The poppies are washed and ground into a paste or resin. 3 : the paste is boiled with slake lime to produce calcium morphate and filtered into a coffie like powder. 4: the powder is mixed with sulphuric acid to make mophene hydroxide. this is then heated in a steel pot for 5 hours at 85%. Water is added and this makes diaetymorphene (heroin chloride). finally filtered with chloraphorm to purify. 5: sodium carbonate is added slowly and filtered through a fine cloth and heated. it becomes a white powder. 6 : the powder is mixed with ethol alcohol and heated to remove sodium, it is then filtered in an ice bath to create a cream. this cream is evaporated to make a cystalised heroin base. 7 : There is 700g of heroin base to 1kg of morphene. the heroin base is mixed with ethyl alchohol and is mixed to make a hydrocloric salt. half the ether is added and the remaining is added to make a cyrstaline powder. 8 : the cytals areleft to dry on wooden bowls and crushed to a fine white powder. the powder is then packed and shiped.
