IDEALISED FROM A CO-CREATION WORKSHOP DONE THROUGH PARTICIPATORY DESIGN WITH THE RESIDENTS & VISITORS OF PULAU UBIN. ‘TALEPHANT’ IS A SPACE TO ENLIVEN UBIN AGAIN, A SPACE FOR BOTH ADULTS & CHILDREN THE INSPIRATION IS FROM THE TALE OF AN ESCAPED ELEPHANT THAT SWAM ITS WAY TO UBIN. THE SEPERATE ELEMENTS OF THE PLAYGROUND, THE SLIDE, BALANCE BEAM AND THE STEPPING LOGS ALL TELL THE JOURNEY OF THE ELEPHANT.
Design Proposal To design an integrated playground and seating area for adults and children alike, based on the story of the elephant who got lost in Ubin in 1991. The Slide, Balance Beam and Stepping Logs tell the tale of the elephant as it swum to Ubin to the frantic journey of the residents as it try to capture the elephant

THE MIGRATION
A Structure Emulating The Motion of Flying Birds
THE MIGRATION IS INSPIRED BY THE TRIANGULAR FORMATION OF MIGRATORY BIRDS. THE CLUSTERING OF TRIANGLES USES DADO JOINT TO REPRESENT HOW THEY TRAVEL TOGETHER. WE USED A TRIANGLE AS A BASIC GEOMETRICAL SHAPE IN WHICH WE JOINED 2 TRIANGLES WITH A BUTT JOINT TO REPRESENT THE WINGS OF A FLYING MIGRATORY BIRD. THE MIGRATION ITSELF IS A SHELTER STRUCTURE THAT PROVIDES PROTECTION FROM THE SUN, WITH VOID SPACES IN BETWEEN TO ALLOW VENTILATION. THE MULTIPLE OPENINGS ALLOW VISUAL CONNECTION WITH THE OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT.
