Welcome... sometimes when it comes to weddings, as it is in life - the simpler we keep things the better off we are. I am asked all the time by brides how to make the process stress free and my advice is simple... don’t leave things to the last minute, give yourself plenty of time to do the research and ultimately go with your gut. I know it doesn't sound very pretty but we all have great intuition (we just don't always listen to our own little inner voices). The old adage you get what you pay for does apply to weddings as well....I am not saying you have to have the most expensive option all the time but make sure you are realistic with your budget and if you want to spurge on one area then just know that you will have to cut back somewhere else. Every bride is faced with now thousands upon thousands of wedding images and the stakes are high to create the “perfect wedding day but I promise you this if you create a day full of love your guests will be happy just to be apart of it. Remember by the end of the day you will be Mr & Mrs

A Big Thank You... We would just love to thank all of the wonderful photographers and wedding suppliers for all of the amazing images that you are about to see. Also a special thanks to the beautiful bridal couples who have allowed us to share their amazing wedding days.

“I Do”..... Me Too! Helpful tips for the perfect wedding ceremony Sitting down to write your wedding vows and how your would like your ceremony to be can be overwhelming—it’s that uneasy feeling when you are looking at a blank screen on your computer with the cursor blinking in your face. You know there are a number of parts to a ceremony, but which ones should you include? And which ones do you need to include? This is where your celebrant comes in, they will help you with the structure of the ceremony and they will keep you on track with what is required. So to get you started here is few short steps.

2. Find a tone and a story. Just like any well written book, your wedding ceremony should have a story line. A story line makes the whole ceremony cohesive, and much easier to create. For example, is your story, “We took a journey together and this is the ultimate journey we start today,” or “Our love has been tested and today we reaffirm our connection,” or “Woohoo! FINALLY!” Is your tone of your ceremony - nostalgic? Forward thinking? Is your ceremony aimed toward the community of loved ones there to celebrate and witness your love, or is it more about the team of two you’ve created with your partner? The story line and tone will help you write vows, find readings, and help you and your celebrant / priest / minister write a wedding ceremony.

1. Find a style. Decide with your partner what sort of ceremony you’d like to have: long, short, traditional, non-traditional, etc. Know that a twenty-minute ceremony is about the average length. Are you having a religious ceremony or do you want to go totally nontraditional and build your own format? Discuss this together and try to then consider interested parties—do your or your partners’ parents want a certain religious or traditional aspect in your ceremony? Are you willing to incorporate it? Talk to your partner about length of the ceremony and what style you’d like it to reflect.

3. Decide which components of the ceremony you want to include. These are the wedding ceremony components in loosely the order people generally use, but there is no reason you cannot flip things around (and of course, cut things entirely). Remember, it’s your wedding —do what feels comfortable to you. " The Opening: A welcome, a please turn off your cellphones, a thank you to the guests for " attending.

Page 7

The Address: This is when a message is shared with your guests, a speech from the officiant, sometimes including readings. In a church wedding this would be when the minister gives a sermon. If the celebrant is a friend or family member, you may want them to tell a personal story about you and your partner or explain how you met. You might want the celebrant to share a reading or song lyric, proverb, or religious reading. Depending on your celebrant they may or may not write the address—Priests and Ministers usually do, friends and family might want to, or might want to write it with you.

The Ceremony of the Rings: The celebrant speaks for a moment about the meaning of rings. It usually is along the lines of, “Rings are a circle which is eternal, as is love,” but varies with different religious and cultural contexts. Feel free to add to this explanation, or keep it super simple. The Ring Vows: This is when you present your partner with their ring. I find that most couples want to repeat after me, as it’s hard to remember what you want to say when you’re up there getting married! You’ll place the ring on your partner’s finger and say something to the effect of, “With this ring I thee wed.” Again, you can get as creative as you like with the words to choose to say before you place the ring.

The Readings: The readings really are exactly what they sound like. You may want someone to read a poem, lyrics, a Bible passage, or recite a fond memory about the couple. Your celebrant will introduce the reader, the reader will stand or come up to the front of the ceremony, and then proceed with the reading.

The Pronouncement: Exactly what it sounds like, the celebrant will pronounce you wed, married, husband and wife, wife and wife, husband and husband, best friends & lovers for life…whatever you like.

The Expression of Intent: I am proceeding in caps because this is important: THIS IS THE ONLY PART OF THE WEDDING CEREMONY WHICH IS LEGALLY MANDATED. The expression of intent is when you and your partner are asked if you take this person to be your legally wedded partner, and you say, “I do,” or, “Hell yes!” or, “We do,” or “Yes, yes, a million times yes.”

The Kiss: The kiss! I love this part, it’s so happy. I’d like to stress this point: you do not need all of the parts just listed. You should make your wedding feel just the way you want it to—like you, like tradition, or like some combination. If you want to move all the parts around, do it. If you want to flat out leave some parts out, feel free to do that too. (With the exception of the Expression of Intent.)

The Vows: There are options with the vows. Your vows, you read them. Or your own vows, the celebrant reads them, and you repeat them. You write them, or you don’t. Or you don’t do personal vows at all. Either way, having the previously mentioned story line makes it much easier to either stick with the general theme of the ceremony or cover something outside the theme that you want included.

The Signing of the Register: There is the paper work...there is always paperwork. You will need to have two witnesses, they can be part of your bridal party or another member of your family. The celebrant will ask the bride & groom along with the witnesses to the side to sign your names to make it fully official.

Page 8

4. Make it you! I get a lot of insanely sweet questions from couples along the lines of: is it silly that we have a reading from Lord of the Rings in our wedding? Should we not mention that we love Star Wars? Is it inappropriate to reference how we met in our vows? To which my answer is always of course not. This is your wedding, it should sound and feel like you. I truly believe as long as you’re being kind and not making anyone uncomfortable there is nothing “inappropriate” for your wedding. Find touches that make it feel like your ceremony. There are a lot of ways to add touches that will make the wedding feel like a reflection of you both as a couple: readings, and who reads them, a song sung by a friend, a blessing given by a family member, a tradition carried out by generations, or a tradition you’re starting that day. However you make the ceremony feel right, do that—this is your day, your ceremony, your wedding, and your marriage. Make it feel like you, however that works.

Our Story..

“Amy and Anthony’s story began when they met a year and a half ago. Theirs is one

of those great relationships where two people meet, there’s an instant attraction and a ready rapport between them. They knew immediately that they shared something very special. Despite their best efforts to take things slowly, they quickly became very close and Anthony’s self-imposed “stages of dating” rules went out of the window. For those who need enlightening, apparently there is a set process and time for each stage of dating which goes something like “just seeing each other” to “dating” to “kick off” (which means they’re officially “together”). And when exactly is kick off? Well apparently Amy would “just know”. However, I believe a couple of stages were leapfrogged as Anthony quickly fell for this gorgeous girl. But it was on only their second date that the night of the alleged “ambush” occurred. Imagine the horror of enjoying a quiet drink at the Regatta, getting to know the girl you’ve just met, when in walk her parents! Anthony tells me that at first he assumed they were work colleagues, then he looked at the lady, looked back at Amy, and thought “uh oh, mother”. He thought for a moment it was an arranged ambush until he saw the look of horror on Amy’s face, at the same registering that she was trying to drag him in the other direction. But he resisted the tugging and stayed to chat and join them for a drink. That was the first of many brownie points Anthony has scored with “the parents”. In fact, if brownie points could be converted to frequent flyers, he’d probably have enough to fly round the world and back. They are all now great mates, and only a couple of weeks ago on the way over to their place, Amy said to Anthony “We seem to be spending a lot of time with my parents lately, are you OK with that?” To which he replied, “Yeah of course, and besides they’re the only friends we’ve got who haven’t got kids!”. As time passed, Amy & Anthony discovered quite a few coincidences that might easily have caused their paths to cross earlier. Like the time they were looking through Anthony’s photos and came across one of Anthony and friends, taken at the Normandy hotel on Australia Day in 2008. There in the background standing just centimeters away was Kelly (Amy’s sister)! They also discovered that in 2007 Amy lived next to Anthony’s brother, Mark, in Runcorn. But most incredibly in 2011 Amy and Anthony lived just a couple of houses apart in the same road in Paddington. There must surely have been some “sliding door” moments during those years, but as is often the case, Destiny ensured that they met when the time was right for them both”.

Anthony

- The moment i saw Amy she literally took my breath away. She smiled all through the ceremony

and it kept reminding me of the first time we met and I first saw her cheeky smile.

Something Little, Something Sweet.. When planning a wedding, there are lots of elements to plan such as the dress, wedding invitations and the reception location but one thing that is becoming more popular is bomboniere. Let Me Entertain You... Still, many couples draw a blank when it comes to finding that one special song. Here is some advice for planning your special song... Find the tempo and mood that's right for you Maybe it's slow and romantic, maybe it's gentle and whimsical, maybe it's upbeat and rockin'. Choosing the style of song that suits you will make you much more comfortable on the dance floor, and in some cases, can say a lot about your personalities! Think back to experiences you've shared as a couple Recall the movies and TV shows you've seen, concerts you've attended, even songs you heard together in a bar or another wedding. (Couples' nostalgia is what's made Dave Matthews a popular choice for wedding first dances!) Look for innovative covers of old classics Maybe a cool cover version exists of a song your parents or grandparents danced to at their own wedding. Cover songs are also a great way to work in some of today's artists in a way that appeals to a wide variety of ages. Consider making your first and last dance a special surprise One of you gets to choose the first dance, one chooses the last dance. Keep the songs a secret from one another, giving the titles and artists directly to the planner to share with the DJ or bandleader. The rush of surprise and emotion as each person hears the other's selection for the first time is guaranteed to make the wedding even more special.

Looking your Best.. Looking great on your wedding day means being radiant, relaxed, and ready to start a brand new chapter with the person with whom you've chosen to spend your life. Your hair, nails, makeup, dress – and how you look in that dress – are all part of becoming the bride you want to be on that special day. Since pictures taken on that day remain part of your life forever, it's important to look and feel your best. Here are 5 Simple Steps to get you looking your very best...

1 - Choose your dress well in advance. Your dress is one of the most important items in your wedding plans, so make sure you take enough time to choose one that suits you – not your best friend, not your bridesmaids, and not your mother. For the day of your wedding, you'll want a dress in which you can stand, walk and dance in without worrying about "wardrobe malfunctions" or causing you discomfort. Allow necessary time if you decide on having the dress made, but even if bought "off the rack," you'll need to factor in time for tailoring and any adjustments. 2 - Choose a classic hair style. You don't want to overpower your dress and headpiece with a flamboyant hair style or color that overwhelms everything else. Keep it simple and classic, and remember to practice the look you want at home or with your stylist before the wedding day. 3 - Fix your nails professionally. Have your nails professionally manicured the day before the wedding. This is one thing you don't want to do too far in advance. Reduce the chances of a broken nail, chipped polish; or, if using applied nails, reduce the risk of having one coming off by having your manicure as late as possible. If you are not inclined toward colored polishes or long fingernails, simply make sure that they are neatly trimmed, filed, polished, and buffed. Your hands will be the focus of attention when showing off that new wedding ring and for photos! 4 - Enhance your beauty with makeup. Makeup is the last thing you'll need to worry over. It is done on the big day itself but you should have a test run before this. Don't try to transform yourself into a different person with dramatic eye makeup or garish lipstick. Simply make the real you look better! Use a slightly heavier hand than with your usual daytime makeup so that your photos won't have you appearing washed-out looking, but don't overdo it. And if your wedding is at night, with more subtle lighting, apply makeup as though you were going to a club or restaurant at night – a little heavier than daytime, but not too much! Avoid deep red lipstick as well as a too-pale pink. Frosted eyeshadows or lipsticks are definite no-nos. Taking your own photo with a digital camera or a camera phone is a good way to check your makeup before the wedding photos.Buy fresh mascara to avoid clumping. Also, if you have sensitive skin, this is not the time to try a new brand. The last thing you want to do is head for the altar with blotches or zits thanks to an allergic reaction. 5 - Prepare in advance to feel your best. The night before your wedding is not the time for partying, so get eight hours of restful sleep. If you're having a rehearsal dinner, or a bachelorette bash, make sure that it ends early. Drink moderately or, better yet, not at all. Bloodshot eyes and a banging hangover will not make for a fun wedding. Don't gorge yourself the night before because we all know that there are strange forces at work which will try to make your wedding gown just a wee bit snug in the morning. Let alone the fact that it isn't so pleasant feeling bloated! To overcome excitement and nerves, try taking a long walk - it can help with pre-nuptial jitters. A relaxing bath with soothing background music, a cup of herbal tea, and you should be ready to doze off with images of a happy future marriage in your dreams. Page 38

Hair and Beauty Tips Every bride wants to look their best, but when the wedding count down speeds up, it can be hard not to panic.

Elegance

A vision of pure Hairdressing and Makeup Beauty Therapy

You've stressed over the seating plan, argued over the guest list and nearly had a break down over the budget and now you're supposed to look gorgeous? Ha. You may have dark circles, prickly legs, frazzled hair and nerves shot to pieces, but there is a way to transform yourself from washed out wedding planner to beautiful bride - in only a matter of weeks! If you've only got one month to go, don't fret - we've asked beauty experts for their quick fix bridal beauty tips. These bridal tips will have you looking your beautiful best on your big day. 1 - Feed your skin from the inside. Honey, especially the dark kind, is high in disease fighting antioxidants. Add it to your morning yogurt or tea. 2 - Use sunscreen. Do the sunscreen test hold your arm above your head and check - does the skin on the underside of your upper arm match your face? You may be getting burnt more often than you think. Look for a sunscreen that absorbs UVA (wrinkle-causers) and UVB (the ones that burn) rays. 3 - Take a milk bath. The white stuff is rich in protein and fat, both of which calm any skin irritations. Add two to four cups of whole milk to a warm bath and relax. 4 - Add shine to your hair. Try a post shampoo rinse once a week with 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar diluted in a pint of water in half a litre of water. The acid in the vinegar will remove any build up from styling products. 5 - Crazy for colour. If you are going to colour your hair for the big day then book yourself an appointment at two weeks prior and you can have a final trim at the same time.

We care that you look your best. 6 - Eye lash tint. If you are worried about your mascara running on your wedding day then book yourself in a few days before the wedding and have them professionally tinted. This way your eyes will look amazing and you won’t be worried about the couple of tears on your wedding day. Phone (07) 5444 0794 | Mobile 0419 664 149 Email glenda@pure-elegance.com.au

Shapelier Arms and Chest Are you wearing a sleeveless or low-cut wedding dress? You will almost definitely benefit from an upper body workout. You should always start with a warm up when you exercise but these may be some thing you can add into your daily workout schedule.

Tip... When working one arm at a time you should do a full set before swapping to the other side. Look at doing eight repetitions of each exercises on each side for the first few weeks and then after that work up gradually to two or three sets of 12. If it becomes too easy increase the size of the weights. Move slowly and have control with every repetition. We all exercise better with a friend or join a gym...

Shoulder Press Stand with your feet hip width apart, knees slightly bent, and your palms facing each other. Hold a weight in each hand at shoulder height, then raise toward the ceiling and then lower to shoulder level

Bicept Curls Stand with your feet hip width apart, knees slightly bent and your palms facing forward. Holding the weight in your hand raise it to your shoulder and back down to your waist, keeping your elbow close to your side. One side at a time.

Triceps Dip This upper arm firmer uses your body weight instead of hand weights. Sit on the edge of a chair that won’t tip up and with your feet flat on the floor, knees at right angles and your hands gripping the edge beside you. Move forwards off the edge of the chair, so you are supported by your arms, being careful not to lock your elbows. Lower your bottom towards the floor until your elbows are at right angles, then come back until they’re straight again.

"On your wedding day, soak up all the love, joy and bliss! Enjoy!" Rachelle and Pete

"This event is an expression of yourselves, but it's not all you'll ever be. It's just the beginning! In fact, some of the best moments were ones we didn't plan for at all —like a fabulous photograph of my dress train all tangled up with leaves and dirt. Sure, it was messy and not what you're used to seeing in bridal magazines, but it was also honest and a truly joyful moment that could easily have gone south if we'd been uptight about things. Embrace the unexpected, and each others' opinions, and don't let an unattainable ideal sour the big picture: You're in this together, now and for the future." Teresa and Ben Page 54

Sexy Wedding Colours? Shades of Grey Picking wedding colours has never been more sexy....why not shades of grey? Looking for a palette that your future hubby will approve? Something that includes pink, but has a very sophisticated and elegant feel. Also something that's not overly feminine? Something a tad more subdued? I've long loved shades of pink and gray. And I'm hoping you can see why? There's just something so appealing to me about this pairing.

Make sure that you select colours that are similar in tone. I always visit my local paint store and grab a whole bunch of colour chips - you can mix and match until you are happy with the final design.

Just keep in mind that you can just add little touches of colour and this will keep things looking stylish. If you want to introduce a stronger pink colour just add one or two flowers to give you that pop.

When is a dress not just a dress? The first thing you should do before actually heading to the bridal shop is get an idea about which style of wedding gown you prefer. You will need to get familiar with wedding gown terminology and styles. Here are some general guidelines to help you get started on the road to wedding day bliss.

A-line The A-line or princess dress has no marked waist and the vertical seams flow from the shoulders down to a flared skirt, creating an "A" shape. If you carry your weight in the middle, this silhouette is a nice choice.

Ball gown These gowns are normally quite formal, reminding you of Cinderella. The bodice is fitted with a very full skirt. Ball gowns can be long-sleeved, sleeveless or anywhere in between. The full skirt of a ball gown can hide large hips and thighs.

Page 62

Empire Empire gowns have a raised waistline that starts right under the bust, flowing to a skirt that skims over the hips then flairs slightly to the floor. This romantic silhouette is flattering to most body types and is particularly flattering to small-breasted women.

Mermaid As the name indicates, the mermaid dress is contoured against the body then the gown flows out beginning around the knees. This is the sexiest of the styles. If you're confident in your body, a mermaid dress can show off your curves.

Sheath The sheath or column dress has a slim shape that follows close to the line of the body. The straight design doesn't allow for many body flaws. The long lines of a sheath gown can elongate the look of your body. Therefore this type of dress can work well for short brides.

Lights, Camera, Action! There are many of reason why you should choose your wedding photographer or videographer carefully but there is one explanation that is more important than all the rest. This is the fact that your photographer or videographer will actually be your eyes on day. The images recorded on your wedding day will help prompt precious memories that could have been lost forever, if not for the eyes of these talented professionals. But who do you choose, there are so many? However, just as you have your own style, so does each photographer or videographer. Get to know as much as you can about your shortlisted choices. Thoroughly look over their websites, analyzing the gallery, imagining that the posted images are from your wedding. Would you be happy with what you see? Another important consideration is whether you actually like them. Remember you will be spending more time with these people on your wedding day that even your partner. Meeting with them is essential and a great way to assess whether you are comfortable. Your ability to relax and forget they are even around can be the difference between good photos or great photos. Are you hesitating about whether to have a videographer? Unlike photographs, a video may seem like a luxury if the budget is a little tight. But think of this, have you ever heard anyone regretting sitting down in front of the television and reliving their beautiful day, with there children and even grandchildren. Photo booths have become a fun way to record a record of your guests but a way of allowing them to express their happiness for your wedding day. These often hilarious pics will become a treasured record of the happiest day of your life.

Instantly Famous...instagram me! It’s crazy to think how much technology has changed the way we interact with our weddings. I’ve been married quiet a few years now and back then you booked a great photographer to capture your wedding day images but thanks to iPhones, the landscape now is completely different than it was then. In some ways I get sad as you can loose the romance of your ceremony (where guests spend more time recording the ceremony than experiencing it?) and in other ways, it’s kind of awesome that they will capture every minute of the day. So early in your planning decide if you want to include your guests photos as part of your wedding day or go completely unplugged. Let guests know your wishes and that way there will be no surprises on the day and this way no one will take any offense. If you agree that you don’t want hundreds of posed wedding photos, crowd sourcing your photos is a great way to get those amazing candid photos. I must say though I would not rely on just friends and family for your wedding photos hiring a professional is still the best way to ensure you capture those once in a life time images. Using Instagram is a great way to co-ordinate images from all your friends and family so we have listed the steps you will need to do prior to your wedding. You will need the following things and free tools to get started • Download the Instagram mobile app • Decide on your weddings hashtag • Online photo storage site • Account on ifttt.com • Several wedding guests with smart phones From there you just have to: 1. Download the Instagram mobile app on your smart phone device. Not sure what this is....Instagram is a (free) social, photo sharing app. You can take pictures, add cool effects, and share them with your friends. It’s like your Facebook newsfeed with pictures only. Drink the kool-aid, hipsters. 2. Choose a wedding hashtag. Just like Twitter, Instagram filters pictures by using “hashtags.” For example, your tag could be #joneswed. So if you were to search #joneswed on Instagram, you would find all the lovely photos taken at your wedding by your guests. (Tip: before you begin, search for your chosen hashtag to make sure no one else is using it.) 3. Decide where you want to store your photos. It’s best to use pre-existing accounts to save yourself some hassle. A few options include: Dropbox, a Facebook page (not profile), or Flickr account. In the next step, you’ll perform some wizardry that will automatically upload your Instagram photos to your photo storage site. Page 110

4. Create an account on ifttt.com or, “If this, then that.” First you will activate “channels,” which will include Instagram and the photo storage options you chose in step #3. Basically you are linking your existing accounts to the site. Next you will create “recipes,” which will create a chain reaction. For example, we created two recipes for our wedding: included the instructions in our wedding program. IF THIS [wedding guest tags a photo with #pbwed on Instagram], THEN THAT [photo automatically uploads to pre existing Facebook wedding album] IF THIS [wedding guest tags a photo with #pbwed on Instagram], THEN THAT [photo automatically uploads to pre existing Flickr album] Be patient with ifttt.com. It took us a few test photos before we got it right. (Tip: you must link your accounts before you create the recipe/s.) 5. Share your genius plan. A good idea is to create a wedding-themed Facebook page to share updates with your friends and family. Give them simple instructions, “Help us document our wedding! Snap pictures of celebratory gatherings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and our wedding ceremony using Instagram. Tag with #joneswed.” It will be awesome to see your wedding day from multiple perspectives. You can include photos of the celebrations leading up to our actual wedding day. Whether your guest list is large or small, you will end up with lots of images on Instagram. Sure, they may be a little blurry and unfocused— but they will be treasures reminding you both of the love and laughter you shared that day. If you are looking for a way to supplement your professional wedding photos and keep your guests engaged—give this recipe a try!

Your Invited... Weddings come in all shapes and sizes these days and so do invitations. Your wedding invitation is the first glimpse of your wedding your guests will receive. The wedding invitation should reflect your wedding day and your sense of style. If you are having a non-traditional wedding, there's no reason to use traditional wording. While you should still make sure to include all the details of who, when (time and date), what, and where, you can then use your creativity to make your wedding invitation wording reflect your personality, as well as accurately depicts the wedding itself. Use these wedding invitation wording samples as a guide. Romantic Wedding

Wedding Cake Secrets...

The Perfect Wedding Cake Topper Your wedding cake topper is only a very small part of your wedding day and perhaps not everyone in the wedding party, or even the guests, are going to notice, but as the couple tying the knot, you are sure to appreciate the perfect topper. Plus, most couples save the top of their cakes. Because you are always going to remember the cake topper, and it is sure to be one of the items and keepsakes you hold onto for the rest of your life, it is important to pick the perfect cake topper for your wedding cake. There are many styles to consider - The vintage style cake topper is generally the older looking toppers of two individuals standing on the top of the cake. You may be able to borrow the original cake topper from your parents wedding cake. Wedding cake toppers are not incredibly large, so you don’t have much to worry about in terms of expenses, but every little bit you are able to save counts, and if you want to use your parents or grandparents vintage cake tops, I am sure they will love the idea. Personalized wedding cake toppers are becoming more and more popular. The cake designers are becoming so talented and they can create a little mini couple representing you both. They will even match the type of wedding attire, flowers and hair colour. I have even seen some toppers that have included the couples children or loved pets. If you are considering having them made let you cake designer know early - they do take a lot of time to get just right. For a personal touch of a different kind monogram initials of the individuals on the top of the cake. This style has so many options the style of the font may be fun and funky or stylish and elegant or a brushed metal finish or completely covered in crystals. If cute and quirky are what you are looking for then look around there are so many options including little ceramic bird toppers, twisted wire words like “love” or “always”, mini just married bunting or even penguins if your heart desires. Now on the day of your wedding make sure that you allocate someone to look after your cake topper or make arrangements with your venue to hold it for you until you pick up the rest of your items. It’s not difficult to find the perfect cake topper, with a little planning you are sure to locate the very best wedding cake topper. Page 123

Pretty as a picture... Choosing the perfect bridal flowers for your special day may sometimes prove as difficult as confirming the final guest list. In other words...easier said than done! Somehow you need to select the right flowers to complement your wedding style and your wedding dress, while ensuring they will stay fresh throughout the day, fit your budget and suit the season your wedding is in.. Do the floral arrangements match your style or colour scheme? When you are styling your wedding and incorporating a particular colour into the day, choose this first. Once you know the style or look you want your wedding to have it will make choosing flowers much easier, as you can look for blooms that compliment this. Will your chosen flowers be in season on your wedding day? Consider the time of year your wedding will take place and choose your flowers accordingly. Remember, what’s in season when you’re choosing your flowers may not still be in season on your wedding day. Although some flowers may be available all year-round, choosing something that’s out of season could have a significant impact on your budget! Are you staying within your budget? Set a budget for flowers at the start of your planning and stick to it. This is one budget that can quickly get out of control if care is not taken, so try to make sure it’s as realistic as possible and your expectations are aligned with your wallet! Some flowers can be expensive, so if your favorite flower is the most expensive flower around, be sure this in reflected in the budget. Keep your flower invoice down by using flowers that are in season and including a mix of flowers in your bouquet. A good florist will be able to recommend alternatives if the flowers you like are out of your budget or are going to be out of season. What does your bouquet say about you? Probably the most important thing about your bouquet is that you like it! As well as fitting in with your colour scheme, style, season and budget, the flowers you choose should reflect your personal tastes. Last words The perfect bouquet will be the bouquet that says something about you and your personality. It should also compliment your dress to create the “whole look”. Have fun creating your perfect bouquet...it will be amazing!

You may not be asking them to become Superhero’s but selecting the right groomsmen will make your wedding day so much more fun. The first thing to remember when choosing groomsmen is that your wedding is supposed to be about you and your bride. Your wishes take top priority in selecting attendants. You are under no obligation to ask anyone to be in your wedding. This means you do not have to ask your best friend from primary school to be in the wedding party just because he is your oldest friend. Instead, choose people who will add something desirable to your special day. Reliability is also of great importance when you are choosing your groomsmen. You will need them to be on time for the rehearsal and to make sure they get you to the ceremony with plenty of time to spare. You will rely on them for attending pre-wedding parties, escorting the bride’s attendants in the wedding reception, helping you to stay organized, and, in some cases, helping wedding guests to their seats before the ceremony. You may also require their help in transporting your belongings after the wedding ceremony and reception. Choose attendants who are responsible and reliable to avoid disappointment and hassle.

Prop Hire While trawling op shops for vintage wares can be pretty fun, it can also get pretty expensive, not to mention time consuming. If you’re going for a vintage or eclectic vibe for your wedding, you might like to consider hiring some standout props to style your day. Here are some of my favorite more unique vintage prop hire options.

When using props to get the biggest impact - group them together, having single items just dotted all over the place will make it far more costly. Create a scene and style all the accessories to match.

Page 156

If you are using props on your bridal party photo shoot you often think about three basic items often seen in so many wedding photographs, namely: a suitcase (usually a vintage one), a large golden frame, and a picnic basket. Thankfully, these days there are so many more options! Create unique wedding images by selecting unusual items like the oversized love letters. You can be romantic with just the bride and groom or have some fun and have the bridal party coming through each of the letters.

Depending on where your wedding is check out what is around. You may have access to a brightly colour 50’s caravan or the verandah on a rustic cabin. These items are big but have big impact in your wedding photos

Lastly, stick to a firm favorite add a burst of colour to liven up your photos! Whether you opt for oversized balloons, a lollipop or your bright shoes, choose something you love and have fun with some playful and original pieces.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING CATERER When selecting a catering company you are looking for excellent food, service and the ability to work with the enormity of the detail involved in your day. There are certain key factors that you should discuss when meeting your caterer for the first time.

AVAILABILITY

First and foremost you need to see if your caterer is available on the date you require and find out what the booking and payment process is. Be sure to understand at what point your date becomes secure and when payments are needed. The last thing you want is a sudden shock and unexpected bill just before the wedding. We suggest that you ideally start researching and meeting with caterers at least 9 months before your wedding. Many of the wedding planers & suppliers will have a list of preferred caterers, so once your date is chosen and the location is booked that’s a great time to start contacting catering companies.

BUDGET

It is important you get an early indication of catering costs and what they include. Ask about what options are available to you, if you are on a limited budget tell your caterer what it is – ideally they should be able to provide a package to suit your needs. Consider what is and what isn’t included in the price as often this can vary from one caterer to the next. The big things to look out for are whether your quote includes GST – you really don’t want to get stung if this is overlooked. Different caterers may or may not include tableware and linen hire within their quotes so make sure you run this past them as again it’s not something you want to have to find extra budget for right before the wedding.

QUALITY OF FOOD

When selecting your caterer you are looking for stunning presentation paired with sensational taste. Ask to see a portfolio of the caterers work with pictures of their food. It is important that your caterer has professional, commercial facilities and a team of talented individuals to serve your guests on the day. When meeting your caterer it’s advisable to ask about the quality and sustainability of the produce they source. Creating seasonal menus will impact highly on the quality and taste of you meal. Page 170

TASTING SESSIONÂ

Check the caterer offers a tasting experience but be conscious that popular caterers will have limited availability throughout the summer season. A tasting will allow you to fully understand the quality, style and presentation of their food and gives you the opportunity to explore how your own ideas can be worked into their existing menus.

GREAT EXPECTATIONSÂ

A good caterer should understand your overall vision for the day and listen to your ideas, they should be able to use their wealth of experience and build upon your ideas to go beyond your expectations for the day.

EXPERIENCE

Choose a professional catering team with experience in delivering exceptional and inspired weddings and events. Use social media and websites to see what jobs they have most recently worked on and their presence in the catering market.
