Executive Summary The month of October, with its dramatically changing landscape, makes a fitting image for the ongoing work at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s. Similar to the changing leaves, this month has brought color and dimension to both the Cafeteria and Bed Tower Renovations. Down in the Cafeteria, the arrival of finish materials has taken a welcome presence throughout the space. The many curved bulkheads have been painted and are now greeted by a system of custom ceiling panels. The new servery, including the large radius wall that extends into the dining area, has been fitted with decorative wall tile. Carpentry crews have been working to set the large curved casework units which now fill the space. Within the new addition, a suspended metal panel ceiling system creates a unique atmosphere. Outside in the courtyard area, a stamped concrete patio was poured and final landscaping will soon follow.

Like the Cafeteria, the 7th and 8th floors continue to show progress with each passing week. The 7 South renovation is now mostly drywalled and has taken on the well-known look of other phases. The almost two year renovation will soon see its last bare metal studs as we close out the rough-in phase! 8 South has quickly become another familiar scene. Painting crews have primed and painted all of the walls, carpenters have nearly completed their casework installation and tile crews are finishing their work in the many patient bathrooms. With a little over a month until the Cafeteria opens, and two months until the 8 South go-live date, we look forward to the changes yet to come! Joe Novakoski, P.E., LEED A.P. Vice President / Senior PM

SUBCONTRACTOR

SPOTLIGHT This month’s spotlight goes out to Bouma Corp for the cafeteria project. They are knocking it out of the park! Their crews have the majority of worker presence onsite as they install wall tile, flooring and very detailed ceiling systems. We are continually impressed with their drive and talent!
