INSIDE SCOOP Construction at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s

Bed Tower

The Urban Platter www.elzinga-volkers.com

Executive Summary Many exciting new beginnings are happening at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s! Drywall is finished on 7S and painting is nearing completion. Finishes on 8S will wrap up in the next few weeks, and we will celebrate the floor’s completion by the next newsletter. In addition, we are proud to report that the Cafeteria is now complete! With the majority of construction-related tasks wrapped up, the project has been in punch-out phase these last few weeks. During this time, there is a flourish of activity to prepare the space for final inspections, certifications and, ultimately, hospital staff and guests. Aside from the job aesthetics, many individuals have been on-site to prepare the space for occupancy. Cleaning crews wiped, scrubbed and vacuumed away the construction debris. Testing and balancing professionals have zeroed in the HVAC

systems. Cooks and kitchen teams oriented themselves to the new work areas and have been busy setting up and preparing equipment. Finally, booths, tables and chairs are being moved into the dining area to complete the project. The space has been transformed into an elegant eatery not only for visitors but for the staff and those receiving care. This project is particularly exciting to the team because unlike our bed tower projects or suite renovations, this space will be seen and used by everyone in the hospital. We would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who has been involved in this project and worked so hard for its success! Joe Novakoski, P.E., LEED A.P. Vice President / Senior PM

Painting and Casework The Look Ahead 8S looks fantastic! We are installing all of the finishing touches for the floor’s opening in early January. On 7S, drywall is now complete on the east corridor and center core. In the west and south corridors, casework is being installed and tile in the patient bathrooms, with patient room flooring to follow shortly. Patient shower
