Bed Tower www.elzinga-volkers.com

Executive Summary With the cafeteria (the Urban Platter) now complete, we will draw our newsletter attention back to the Bed Tower project. 7S is moving along quite well. Over the last month, the floor has shifted into the finish phase. Carpenters are busy installing casework, painters are applying color to the walls, and ceiling crews are attaching edge track and placing grid in the patient rooms. Finally, sheet flooring and hard tile is being installed in the patient toilet rooms. The project is currently on track to go live mid-February. 8S finished up early and went live last week! Over the past month the project has mostly been in the punch-out phase. Both the design and construction team have been combing the space for minor imperfections while the associated trades follow behind to touch up. Vendors and equipment suppliers

were also busy fitting each patient room with furniture, monitoring systems, controls, medical devices and much more. Finally, several inspectors, including the city building inspector, city trade inspectors, state fire marshal and state health inspector, have given their approvals that everything is in now in order. We are excited to open the space early during this much needed time of year! Happy Holidays to all from the E&V Family! Joe Novakoski, P.E., LEED A.P. Vice President / Senior PM

SUBCONTRACTOR

SPOTLIGHT This month’s spotlight goes to our project patners at the hospital. As they move into their newly renovated 8S wing, the hospital staff has been vital in this project’s success. This space will be a bright and warm place for patient healing for many years to come. Thank you, Mercy Health! Inside Scoop | December 2014

Final Touches The Look Ahead 8S is finished, and patients will move in next week. We are finishing up casework on 7S and installing wall protection, patient room flooring and tile. Ceiling grid, doors and hardware are also being hung. Carpet and wallpaper installation will follow in the next few weeks. Overall, 7S is moving along nicely toward our completion date in mid-Feburary.
