Executive Summary Welcome to On Location! Hello!

Even though this project has been longer and more extensive than first planned, I would gladly do it again. Having been in the construction industry for nearly ten years, this has to be one of my top ten most enjoyable projects. I really appreciate everyone that was involved.

After seven quick months of construction we are almost complete! We had five different phases, with five different moves, five different temporary areas for staff and five different areas of construction. It certainly has been a very interesting project with many moving parts! This project is a great example of how communication and coordination can make even the most intrusive remodel go smoothly. The entire Biomat staff has been an absolute pleasure to work with as well; I would like to especially thank Victoria and Sky for all of their help throughout the project.

Project Progress Photos SPOTLIGHT ON SAFETY

With all the dangerous equipment, sharp materials and precarious heights that can be found on a construction site, you would probably be surprised to know that simple trips and falls are one of the most common accidents on a job site. Small holes and uneven surfaces are unavoidable during the construction of a building, but proper precautions can help minimize their danger. All holes on a project site that are over 4 in diameter most be covered and marked with bold writing. Uneven surfaces can be temporarily leveled or traffic can be directed around them. Most importantly, daily clean up and housekeeping will keep the job site free of debris and loose materials. All these seemingly minor precautions can avoid serious injury on the project site.

Two Week Look Ahead

We will be wrapping the project up in the next couple of weeks. Currently, we are applying the epoxy floor coating in the storage corridor and finishing up the Forbo Flooring in the waiting and reception area. There are a few other items that were added to our scope that we look forward to completing for the staff in the next few weeks as well. First is a new insulated rollup overhead door in the storage corridor as well as some additional casework and solid surface counter-tops throughout. Thanks to the wonderful staff, I always enjoyed being on site throughout the project. Sky and Victoria have been a tremendous help with the coordination of the day to day operations. I am hopeful that the staff will really enjoy their new center! Thanks again to everyone! - Larry Wolters, Field Manager l.wolters@elzinga-volkers.com Shipping Corridor
