PROJECT MANAGEMENT UPDATE
Matt Wintjes Assistant Project Manager
We are back at it again! The construction team has checked off another phase of the Kresge Renovations and we are stepping into the second-to-last phase. At the beginning of September, all of the trade contractors were working effectively and in sequence as there was one final push to wrap up finishes and complete inspections. With a tight schedule, working around the labor day holiday, and the beginning of the new school year, we commend everyone for chipping in, committing their time and doing their part. We have now occupied the first floor dining room and the first and second floor of the south wing, constructing temporary walls separating our area from the occupied spaces. There is no time off for the team, as residents were in the process of moving, we were following right behind disposing of old furniture and communicating building access and site layout to all the trade contractors. At a quick glance, the second floor demolition team has completed the second floor and has shifted down to the first, walls are already in the process of construction on the second floor and mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins are in process. As always, we’d like to take the time to thank all of the residents and staff for their continued patience and support throughout the project.

Building Together | Construction Update Newsletter UMRC - Chelsea, MI - September 2019 KRESGE RENOVATIONS | UP NEXT Phase 3 has wrapped up and the west wing of the Kresge Renovation is complete and now occupied. Over the course of the next month, the floors, walls and ceilings will be completely demolished and the pieces will begin to be put back together. October will allow the trades to finish their MEP rough-ins and new wall board will be hung and finished in preparation for priming and the first coat of paint. A new addition to this phase will be a vestibule located outside of the first-floor dining room. This will offer a nice walk out for residents into a revamped future courtyard. Our team spotlight this month focuses on ACP. ACP has done a great job throughout the entire project at UMRC of staying on schedule as well as producing quality work. Whether it is framing, hanging drywall, or coordinating schedules with other trades, ACP does a great job of helping the project run smoothly. Andy (pictured far right) and his crew have been a pleasure to work with, and we look forward to working with them in Phases 4 and 5.
