Building Together Canterbury on the Lake - Facility Addition & Renovations

South east side of Memory Center – building wrap and truss installation

PM Summary

Monthly Funny

New Guy on the Project Team My Name is Joe Novakoski and I’ll be taking over as Senior Project Manager throughout the remainder of the project. Many thanks go out to Brad Frey for all of his hard work over the past several months! I’m excited to be on this dedicated team and to be a part of this very exciting project. You will learn more about me in the team member spotlight in next month’s edition. For now, I’ll talk about what’s been happening over the past month. The Memory Care building has come out of the ground before our eyes! Most of the exterior and interior “load bearing” wood wall panels have been installed. The building pad now has stone so the workers are out of the mud. Also, all of the underground electrical and plumbing piping has been installed. The footings have been poured for the connector as well.

How are your new framers doing on tihs job?

In the Health Center renovation, Phase 2 is nearly complete! There were many hurdles on this phase, but the team came together, jumped over them and the area looks great! The Rehab addition is slowly progressing after being slowed by weather, existing utilities, and poor soils that had to be removed. The foundations are now complete and the underground plumbing has been installed. Best regards, Joe Novakoski, P.E. Vice President / Senior Project Manager joenova@elzinga-volkers.com

SAFETYMatters

Building Together | Canterbury On The Lake Facility Addition & Renovations | April 2017

Memory Care/Connector

Everyday an estimated 1,000 eye injuries occur in U.S. workplaces. The financial cost of these injuries is enormous – more than $300 million per year in lost production time, medical expenses, and worker’s compensation. No dollar figure can adequately reflect the personal toll these accidents take on the injured workers. Because of the high frequency of eye injuries on construction sites, Elzinga & Volkers requires all tradespeople and visitors to wear OSHA approved safety glasses while on site. For more information about OSHA requirements for eye and face protection: www.osha.gov/SLTC/ etools/eyeandface/employer/requirements.html
