Building Together Canterbury on the Lake - Facility Addition & Renovations
Rehab Addition
Monthly Funny
PM Summary Great Progress! For those of you who aren’t able to walk through the construction areas, it might look like progress has slowed over the past month. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, evidenced by the congestion onsite as we try to find parking for the influx of additional workers. While the outside of the Memory Care addition looks much the same aside from additional siding work completed, the inside has transformed. As the “rough-in” work for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades was completed and inspected in large areas the insulators concluded their work, followed closely by the drywallers who are covering all the wood framing with drywall. It’s a huge milestone for the project and puts us into the final push of finishing the drywall, followed by painting, flooring and final finishes to complete the rooms.
"Why worry? We're wearing hardhats, aren't we?"
I’m also happy to report that as of August 14th, the Rehab area has been approved for move in! I want to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility in relocating for rehab over the past several months. We hope you enjoy your new space! Lastly, the Health Center is progressing on schedule through Phase 6 and is nearing completion. Best regards,

With all the dangerous equipment, sharp materials and precarious heights that can be found on a construction site, you would probably be surprised to know that simple slips, trips and falls are one of the most common accidents. Small holes and uneven surfaces are unavoidable during the construction of a building, but proper precautions can help minimize their danger. All holes on a project site that are over 4” in diameter most be covered and marked with bold writing. Uneven surfaces can be temporarily leveled or traffic can be directed around them. Most importantly, daily clean up and housekeeping will keep the jobsite free of debris and loose materials. All these seemingly minor precautions can help avoid serious injury on the project site.

Connector Project Happenings
OCT
We created three sections of the Memory Care Addition (North Wing, South Wing, West End – Administration) and we are moving right along. We have drywall installed in all the resident rooms of the North Wing and are installing heat/air duct in the resident rooms and main hallway. Basically, all the low voltage wiring – security cameras, cable TV, smoke alarms, internet, door alarms, etc. – has been installed. Shower stalls are being set. Drywall taping and mudding has begun. Upcoming Renovation Project Happenings With the recent completion of the Rehab Gym and Phase 6, the next area of the Health Center to be renovated will be phase 4. This area includes the first floor dining room and 4-5 resident rooms. Phase 4 is the largest section of the Health Center to be renovated in a single phase.
Sharron Pucket is the Infectious Disease Risk Assessment Controller (IDRA) resource at COTL. Sharron is well liked and very respected. She loves her work and is very happy onsite helping, caring, and performing. Sharron has been a valuable asset to the project team by keeping construction dust and contaminated air from breaching into living space. In her personal time, Sharron enjoys sleeping. She works very hard and needs her rest! On another note, Sharon enjoys visiting her daughter and grandchildren in Wahiawa, Hawaii a few times a year.
