BUILDING TOGETHER

BRIAN WHITE - GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT Wow! What a year the past month has been! It has already been just over one month since Governor Whitmer issued her first extension to the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order. Subsequently, she again added extensions on April 24 and May 7 with the expectation of reopening portions of industry on May 28. During this time, EV Construction has continued to adapt to the challenges presented by the order, and many others. In last month’s article, Mike shared that we did not get to properly celebrate our corporate rebranding. And now, over this past month, we also did not have the opportunity to recognize the company’s momentous milestone of 75 years of business. Mike also mentioned ‘Fish and Chips’ last month; defined as the phenomenon of taking two things that are great on their own and combining them to make something even better. For the sake of this article, let’s just say ‘Fish and Chips’ is two different things served together. Ergo COVID-19 and our 75th anniversary. As I think about the company’s success over the last 75 years I have to ask, “What has allowed EV to remain successful for so long?” And when I think of COVID-19 and its ever-changing challenges to our workplace, I ask, “How is it that EV is still building buildings despite this virus?”

The answer to both questions is simple: it is our people! Really good people! One of the most important character traits EV people possess is the perspective they maintain when new challenges are presented. The perspective is not focusing on what we cannot do. We have all had enough of that, but rather our people lean in and ask “What can we do?” EV people look at a challenge and find a way through it. They do not meet a challenge and give up. They do not get knocked down and stay down. EV people stay the course and do their part to ensure that we all experience continued success. This whole idea reminds me of a quote from President John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” This is the spirit and the character of a true EV employee. It is this mindset that will get us through not only COVID-19 but the next challenge and the next challenge and will ultimately create a tremendous future, hopefully for 75 more years and beyond! We have great people at EV Construction and that is what makes the company great! Thank you to all of you who have leaned in and done whatever you could to help this company, and its people, stay safe, engaged and successful. Stay on the forefront of doing things in a great and unmistakable way. Keep up the good work! Sincerely,

Brian White

EV CONSTRUCTION TEAM FACEBOOK PAGE

FIND THE TEAM PAGE ON FACEBOOK TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER EV FAMILIES The EV Construction Best & Brightest Companies to Work For Communication and Shared Vision Committee has received numerous requests for an easily accessible avenue that would allow team members and their families to communicate with one another. In response to those requests, they created an EV Construction Team Page on Facebook. This site will be an open forum for all members to share updates with the rest of the EV family, providing more immediate communication. This platform is optional to join and provides a place for announcements that may not make sense in other, more formal, communication mediums (company-wide emails, company website, EVinsite, etc.). This page is meant for current employees and/or their significant others only. All members requesting to join will need to be approved by a group moderator. This group is private and posts or content should not be shared outside of this group. The focus of the content should be: 1. Kudos and good job notes from EV Team members to other EV Team members. 2. Project wins, completions and updates above and beyond what our official corporate page shares. 3. Updated policies and reminders (safety, quality, HR, insurance, etc.). 4. Reminders of upcoming company events. 5. EV community involvement (parades, charitable giving, lending and helping hand). 6. Recruitment of volunteers. 7. Sharing of photos or successful stories.

8. Professional and personal successes - Completed trainings or education, promotions, marriage or engagement, additions to the family, etc. 9. Requests for thoughts and/or prayers for yourself or your family members. 10. Quick announcements of personal belongings for sale or donation - cars, bins of clothing, houses, boats, tools, etc. (Please limit to one post to gauge interest and handle all communication for pickup or payment on your own. Do not post individual clothing items for sale.) Please remember this site is not for political posts or anything that could be harmful or demeaning to another person. Please also refrain from using the platform to sell jewelry, make-up, hair care lines and the like. Search Facebook for EV Construction Team and submit a connection request. One of our administrators will approve your request and grant you access to the page.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

CLEANING UP OUR COMMUNITY Alright EV Fam, let’s break out our walking shoes, grocery bags and a pair of gloves – we’re cleaning our communities! The Community Initiatives Committee is hosting a community clean-up event! As you’re walking through your neighborhood, down a park trail or taking a long walk on the beach, take a grocery bag to help do some clean up! We strongly recommend wearing gloves while picking up trash and not picking up anything that you’re unsure of. We want you all to be safe! Post a picture in the EV Construction Team Facebook page or email/text Kelsey Juergens with a picture of you and your bag of trash for a chance to win a gift card! Drawing will be held on June 5. More trash bags = more entries.
