RECAPPING ALIVE365: SAFETY WEEK There are many things that we can be proud of as an EV Family. Our buildings, the quality of workmanship from our people and the award winning culture that everyone has helped build here at E&V. But, the thing that we should be most proud of just happened this last month; The 2018 Alive365Ž Safety Week event and what it means to our community. The week started with our Annual Safety Symposium. This year’s Symposium not only highlighted the importance of safety in the industry and how to create a safety culture, but demonstrated how success in the construction industry is rooted in having the motivation to push standards to new heights. Former NFL star, Mark Pattison, spoke about his Seven Summits of Success based on the wisdom and experience gained from gridiron football, business and the heights of the world's tallest mountains. Following the Safety Symposium, we held ninetraining sessions for our trades to take advantage of. Ranging from first aid, to silica standards and lunch with MIOSHA. These opportunities are offered annualy to all of our trades who have a need to provide training for staff. We have received tremendous feedback from the trade contracting community on our 2018 Safety Week and we should be proud of our accomplishments in safety to date. As we look ahead to next month and some more major safety milestones, remember that the thing we should be most proud of is our care for each other and the partners we work with every day. It is the greatest aspect of our Unmistakable culture. Stay safe! John Parker VP of Project Development

101 Best and Brightest Committee Update The Enrichment, Engagement and Retention (EER) committee has been working on a few items to help with employee engagement in particular. Management is looking for a way to improve attendance at field outings. The recommendation was made (and accepted) to adjust the work week to allow for participation time that does not cut into evenings and family time. For example, the trade contractor outing, rather than starting the activity after a safety meeting, we will instead move the outing to Friday. Employees will be given the option to work nine hour days Monday-Thursday with a half-day of work on Friday. The outing will then start with lunch and end by 5:00 p.m. We hope, that for those of you that have other evening obligations, this will allow you the opportunity to attend. Additionally, we are currently looking in to options for an E&V store. This will be additional attire that employees can purchase for a reduced price. Marketing has had requests for car harts, pull-overs, golf shirts and more, this will provide you with the opportunity to purchase items that you are interested in adding to your wardrobe, not something that marketing picked as a universal gift for everybody. Our goal is to launch “the store” this coming September.
Did You Know?
Finally, the business plan maps have been presented for a few years now at the Stakeholders meeting, but that is only once a year and not everybody has a chance to review them. We are working on getting copies posted in the two office breakrooms.
All E&V YOUniversities are listed on EVinsite. Go to "Employee Care" > "Forms & Policies" > "2018 E&V Youniveristy Schedule"
Do you have ideas for improvement? Give one of us a shout! Our committee consists of Jordan Gougeon, Jeremy Brandsen, Joe Shashaguay, Jill Monte and John Parker.
PRAYERS FOR THE FAULKNER FAMILY We want to thank everyone who has prayed and helped the Faulkner Family during this trying time. Justin Faulkner, Firestop Technician, was involved in a serious car accident in early March. He was in critical condition and they take each day one at a time. Many employees have asked what they can do to help, and there are several opportunities to assist the Faulkner Family. 1. Keep Justin, and his family (parents: Dan and Lin, and siblings) in your prayers. If you’re in the office around lunchtime, a group has been holding a daily prayer at 12:00pm. Anyone is welcome to participate. 2. Meals. Sign up to make a meal for the Fualkner family here: https://takethemameal.com/QFMS2733 3. Additional Funds: A GoFundMe page has been started to help with costs that Justin will be incurring during his stay at the hospital.
