The Connection EVPS NEWSLETTER A

s 2014 turned to 2015, the Executive Committee reflected on the past year and made resolutions for this new year. We grew exponentially as a company in 2014, hitting a high of 2,500 hours worked in a week several times, doubling our workforce over the past two years and consistently adding new employees each month. We definitely have cause to celebrate our achievements! However, we must keep dreaming of an ever better future at E&V. Our past goals brought us to where we are today, and our resolutions will take us even further.

Referrals are still welcome! If you know any quality candidates that are in the job market, please forward their info onto Stacy Chatfield at schatfield@evpsinc.com or 616.392.2383 x 445. Also, if you have recently completed any certifications or trainings please email Ali Nedved at anedved@evpsinc.com. We would love to add any addtional qualifications to your resume to better qualify you!

As we roll out professional goals in 2015, don’t forget to take some time for yourself and keep up with your personal goals as well. Let’s make 2015 our best year yet both professionally and personally!

HOW COLD IS TOO COLD? When the body is unable to warm itself, cold-related stress may result. This may include tissue damage and possibly death. The four main factors that contribute to cold stress are: cold air temperatures, high velocity air movement, dampness of the air and contact with cold water or surfaces. A cold environment forces the body to work harder to maintain its temperature. Cold air, water and snow all draw heat from the body. In many of our industries, job sites are dealing with below-freezing weather. Even when the air temperature is 40°F and the wind speed is 35 mph, your exposed skin receives conditions equivalent to the air temperature being 11° F. While it is obvious that below-freezing conditions combined with inadequate clothing can cause cold stress, it is also important to understand that cold stress can be brought on by temperatures in the 50’s coupled with rain and wind. During this time of year we encourage everyone to plan for work in the cold weather by wearing appropriate clothing and keeping an eye on coworkers for any sign of stress. With proper planning and training, we can keep all employees safe during winter work.
