CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Happy Spring everyone! As winter weather fades away and warmer temps speed in our direction, so does the progress on our renovation at Trinity PBS-K. Over the past month we have made significant strides thanks to complete buy-ins from all of our trade partners. A few weeks ago we had inspections and received the temporary occupancy permit for phase 1A. We are happy to report that this area is now operational and occupied by employees. In our last update we mentioned the challenge of coordinating furniture locations with the underground electrical box locations. This tedious process is now finished for the current phase (1B), the trenches are infilled, flooring is being installed and the area will be ready for the arrival of furniture later this month. Crews have also been working on mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) rough-ins, MEP finishes, hanging and finishing drywall, painting, ceilings and much more. Another interesting task that was completed this past month was the installation a self-leveling floor product that was used to get the existing concrete slab completely level. It was noticed during the framing phase that a large area of the floor was significantly lower on one side. In order to correct this, a product similar to a very wet mix of concrete must be poured throughout the space. This creates a challenge since the floor space becomes unaccessible to heavy traffic and scissor lifts. Thankfully, all of our trade-contractors on site rallied together and worked in sequence to complete overhead work in these areas. Our partners over at Kent Companies were then able to install the floor leveling in one day, allowing crews to walk on the product the next day and drive equipment within a week. This is just one of the many examples of the amazing teamwork shown on site. Everyone’s willingness to work together has made this very fast paced project run like clock-work. It is extremely fun to watch this performance unfold and it’s camaraderie like this that is key to keep progress moving forward with no lost time to the schedule. A big thanks to everyone involved. Keep up the great work!

LOOKING AHEAD Ryan Guerink, Field Manager RyanG@elzinga-volkers.com We have passed our first major milestone with the temporary occupancy with phase 1A. We are now working full steam ahead to get phase 1B ready for temporary occupancy. Over the last month we installed a lot of backbone items that can’t be seen but are vital to the operation of the facility. We are now able to focus on the finishing touches that you will see when the space is complete. We are currently installing cabinetry, ceilings, lights, carpet, tile and sinks. We will be working our way out of the space and furniture will follow move it’s way in. We are also getting prepared for phase 2 and making sure we have all plans in place to start when it is ready.

DATA CABLING
Buist Electric has been on site since we started on day one of this project. They’ve been ahead of schedule the whole way through. Buist has been a great asset to work with and have truly made this job run a lot smoother.
FUN FACT The world’s largest office building by floor size is the Pentagon in Virginia, USA, with over half of its 6,500,000 square foot floor area used as offices. With nearly 120,000 SF of renovation at Trinity – PBS-K this project may seem large but, by scale, 54 buildings this size could fit inside of the Pentagon!
