Safety Meetings and Initiatives
Elzinga & Volkers has started a project safety committee to get a first-hand safety perspective from the crews performing the work onsite on a daily basis. This group consists of field employees from each trade and has been meeting monthly for the last two months. At the conclusion of each meeting, the group walks the jobsite and discusses safety practices and current site conditions. Topics that we discussed at our weekly safety meetings included: »» Housekeeping
»» Emergency Preparedness
»» Extension Cord Safety
»» Means of Egress

Project Progress
We are wrapping up the interior construction in many areas of the building. The upper two floors have finish paint on the walls, casework installed and ceilings hung in the exam rooms. We are currently installing the carpeting in the back of house areas, where the doctors’ offices are located. As we finish up, each office will be closed one by one to prepare for the owner move in. In the hospitality areas on the upper two floors, we are working on the drywall and will be starting the finishes shortly.

On the lower two floors, drywall finishing is coming to an end. Finish paint is going on walls and casework is being installed throughout the floors. Flooring on these two floors will begin shortly. Now that winter has decided to let go, we have resumed the exterior site work. Sidewalks are being poured on a daily basis and we are planting trees on the islands. We are also finishing up the composite panels on the building, and you are able to see the final product taking shape.
