Referrals We’d like to extend a special thanks to those of you that have had a hand in helping EV grow by offering up referrals and connections that led us to new project or business opportunities. In the last month, three of our four new consultants have come from referrals. Those of you that have introduced us to someone new, or made a connection have helped increase the footprint of EV Group; big thanks to Gloria Tingler, Katrena Bouchard and Paul Kent most recently! If anyone has a lead on upcoming project work, a lead on a fellow consultant who is available or even just someone curious about EV Group please do loop us in. You are our most valuable network, and we rely on and appreciate your partnership.

I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the EV Group to provide professional services for their clients. I grew up in near Canton, OH, I have two grown children, Jocelyn and Matthew and recently became a grandfather. I currently live in the Gatlinburg, TN area with my wife, Rita, and our four-legged friends. Although my training has been in the electrical field (I have a BSEE and three Associate degrees), I was a production manager for six years and have implemented projects in twelve states including, Puerto Rico. I was a direct employee for Ford Motor Company, Nabisco, Kraft Foods, Wrigley/ Mars and Imperial Sugar. For the last seven years I have provided contract project management services for the manufacturing of chewing gum, crackers, cookies, donuts and pork packaging. My strengths are in the confections, snacks and baking industries. I have come to realize that I enjoy change and actually embrace it. My favorite motto is, “failure to plan, is planning to fail”. But, no matter how great you plan, something always changes and you need a contingency plan. Many projects that I have been assigned to involve taking over projects with minimal
contact time from the previous PM. Here are a few of my more memorable projects, 1. My largest project was a $300MM pork processing facility with 750,000-SF of manufacturing, I was one of many PMs on that project. 2. The most challenging project I participated in was a 3 Mega-watt Co-Gen operation in Puerto Rico. The project had two main challenges, the language barrier and the after affects of Hurricane Hugo. 3. Another fun project was securing a grant to install a 50,000 watt solar PV system on the roof top of a manufacturing facility. I was the designated Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at a facility near the East coast. I enjoy projects that involve energy, reliability and sustainability opportunities. Completing projects safely, on time and within budget is the goal, but earning trust and making friends is a great byproduct too. I have been blessed to have worked with many talented people during my career. My hobbies include travel, camping, boating, motorcycle riding and ham radio. Be safe and cherish the time with your family! Thank you, Dave Best

INDUSTRY NEWS! Awesome Burger Nestle’s Answer to Plant Based Food Craze MOSS LANDING, Calif. - If you turn off Highway 1 at just the right spot in Moss Landing, California, past fruit stands, roadside cafes and artichoke farms, you may catch a sudden whiff of bacon. It’s surprising, because this exit leads to the headquarters of the vegetarian meal company Sweet Earth, where bacon — at least the kind made from pigs — is absolutely not on the menu. Monterey County, where Moss Landing is
situated, is the perfect place for a vegetarian business. Home of the Salinas Valley, the socalled “salad bowl of the world,” it’s one of the most productive agricultural areas on the planet, growing more than 150 crops including lettuce — lots of lettuce. It’s been Sweet Earth’s home for years, well before Nestlé acquired the then 350-person company in 2017. But these days, it’s turning into something else — Nestlé’s Plant-Based Protein Center of Excellence, the beating heart of the massive food company’s recent foray into fake meat.
