Orgullo Hispano
El Dr. Juvenal G. Luza es un gran líd er a ca d émico en nues tra comunidad nace en Chuquicamata, Chile en 1950. El nace en el desierto mas árido del mundo, El Desierto de Atacama, ubicado en el norte de Chile, región limítrofe con el Perú y Bolivia. Juvenal explica: “Parte de estos tres países se conocen como La Región Andina, tierras que pertenecieron al Imperio de Los Incas en tiempos pasados.” Es aquí donde crece como el mayor de ocho hermanos. El comparte esta etapa de su vida en Chile: “Mi padre trabajando tiempo completo para mantener la familia, y mi madre llevando las responsabilidades de la casa. Todos mis hermanos nos llevamos por un año de diferencia, lo que significó tener un nuevo hermano cada año. Una familia feliz, con mucha disciplina y responsabilidades desde muy pequeños. La mayor parte de nuestras vidas fue dedicada a los trabajos escolares. Durante el día asistir a clases, y en la tarde dedicarnos a las tareas escolares. Los fines de semana ayudar en el negocio del papá.” El Dr. Luza cuenta que desde pequeño además de ayudar en la casa con sus hermanos menores era recibir clases de piano a los nueve años. Gracias a la disciplina y ayuda de su familia el Dr. Luza hace toda una carrera en Chile hasta recibirse de la Universidad de Chile, Sede Antofagasta donde recibe el título de Profesor de Biología y Ciencias. Por si todo esto no fuera poco, Juvenal sigue con sus estudios y en Universidad de Chile, Facultad de Agronomía en Santiago, recibe el Magister en Ciencias Agropecuarias. La aventura académica de el Dr. Luza sigue una vez en los Estados Unidos ya que estudia en la Universidad de California, Davis, donde recibe el Doctorado en Filosofía (Ph.D). Para obtener y continuar su carrera como académico recibe la credencial de

Cuando el reloj dio las doce el paciente seguía con la nefasta preocupación de seguir escribiendo todo su mal, todo eso que él deseaba transmitirle al doctor. A la distancia unos pasos se aproximaban a su casa, el sonido cada vez más cerca, se asemejaba al sonido de soldados en marcha a punto de aniquilar al enemigo, a punto de llevar a cabo las ordenes del general. El “tump, tump, tump” cada vez más cerca, el paciente por primera vez en días se levantó muy lento, tan lento cómo un herido en una de esas tantas películas hollywoodenses, caminó lento, despacio, su aliento y respiración también lento, todo fue lento, hasta llegar a la puerta, hasta colgar su pupila por el pequeño orificio de la puerta, sólo divisaba sombras de dos cuerpos, quizá eran tres, por seguro vio más de una sombra, el paciente sintió un calor y frío a la misma vez, imparable, sentía un sudor frío que mojaba su cara, no sabía qué hacer, no sabía quiénes eran esos hombres, no sabía qué querían esos hombres, ¿por qué estaban aquí? él jamás tenía visitas, desde que Zoe y ella se fueron al más allá todos aquellos que alguna vez fueron amigos o familia ya no acostumbraban pasar. El, “tump tump” del piso cesó y se pasó a la puerta de metal, ese “tump, tump” cada vez más fuerte cada vez más cerca, hacia su corazón latir y sudar cada vez más, el sonido siguió hasta sintonizarse con su latir. Su respiración ya no la podía controlar, ¿quiénes eran esos hombres? ¿Qué hacían? Estaban exigiendo una respuesta. El paciente no sabía qué hacer, no sabía quiénes eran, intentaba pensar en algo pero las ideas no surgían, las posibilidades de esa visita no llegaban, sin pensar pasó una vez más al orificio de la puerta para verlos, así se dio cuenta que no eran dos hombres, eran tres hombres vestidos de noche. Mantuvo su vista atenta a ellos, atenta a sus “tump, tump” todo fue cada vez más desesperante, sus pasos cada vez más exigentes cada vez más recrimínales, estos no eran vendedores, estos no eran testigos, no eran vecinos inoportunos, no, estos hombres venían vestidos de negro, venían dispuestos a cumplir las ordenes, dispuestos a cumplir su misión. En eso el paciente, escuchó el soplido del viento, un soplido tan delirante que parecía convertirse en murmullos, vacíos de significado, vacíos de sentido, pero entre esos sonidos indescifrables había ordenes, había plan de ataque había estrategia de cómo entrar y atravesar esa puerta de metal. El paciente ya sin ninguna duda lo sabía, sabía que venían, sabía que lo buscaban, sabía que se lo iban a llevar, no entendía ¿por qué? no podía encontrar una razón para explicar esta visita, estos hombres, ¿serán sombras?, ¿serán meras ideas? ¿serán meros reflejos de esos fantasmas de mis recuerdos? ¿O serán en efecto de carne y hueso? ¿y si se van? ¿y si ya no regresan porque piensan qué no hay nadie aquí? ¿habrán visto mi coche? ¿seguro que sí? En eso, el pensamiento del paciente fue interrumpido por el sonido de esos pasos ya dispuestos a entrar por la puerta trasera, en eso el paciente corrió para evitarlo. Así el “tump, tump, tump” se había multiplicado, así la sensación de criminal, de fugitivo también se había multiplicado, sin jamás haber cometido un crimen sentía que venían por él, ¿quizá fue mi complicidad? la vi sangrar sin hacer nada, la dejé morir frente a mí sin hacer nada. ¿Vendrán ahora por mí? ¿sabrán que quiero eliminar mis recuerdos? ¿querrán mis recuerdos antes de que sea muy tarde? ¿Qué hacen aquí? ¿por qué vendrán por mí? yo jamás hice nada. El “tump, tump, tump” seguía, seguía. En eso, el tercer hombre pasó a la ventana de la cocina, con una herramienta casi médica logró romper la ventana sin ningún problema, logró penetrar la superficie de cristal. El paciente sin a dónde correr, a dónde esconderse, se fue directo a su recamara, como un niño escapando de soldados se metió debajo de la recamara, los tres hombres vestidos de noche ya acostumbrados a su labor sin ninguna preocupación como robots ya programados se fueron directo a la recamara del paciente, con una ligereza y facilidad levantaron la cama, ahí como un animal buscando refugio se encontraba el paciente hecho un asco, sucio, apestoso y con un fuerte hedor, les decía “por favor, no, yo no hice, nada, por favor no, yo no hice nada.” Los tres hombres vestidos de noche, lo tomaron por los brazos y sólo dijeron venimos por usted como no lo pidieron y lo levantaron de los hombros 831.917.4227 (38) y lo arrastraron hasta llevarlo en su coche. Learning how to look past the past. It took me years to be able to do this. I have learned that there is no such thing as one past, has my research taught me nothing? After all, one of the main premises and frameworks within my study is that there is no such thing as one vision or perspective of the past. As a matter of fact, there is no such thing as one past, this notion of events in the past exist as part of single or collective memory, all of these various pasts, are all different and distinct perspectives and experiences. Who am I to say, which one is more “real” or “truthful”, aren’t they all real and truthful at the same time? Since to the bearer of that past experience it is understood as a truth or reality. So, no, there is no such thing as one past but rather multiple pasts. The past is a plurality of experiences. The past is malleable, it changes, and it is never the same, to me, to you, to them, to us. Multiple points of views will always exist. You will never be able to fully understand it. The pasts are but fleeting moments that no longer are; yet they always remain present. The pasts with out words does not exist, as a matter of fact no such thing without words can exist. Take this past for example, one day like all of those uneventful days you will quickly forget and blur into part of a month or week I wrote the following. “Under the spell of rays of sun of letters of writing, what is this? The students left, after finishing practice. They left me with their words with their script jumping around my mind their statements their lines made me wonder. Was it real? Does it matter? Should it matter? It was just a fake play it was just an assignment for class. Was it real? Does it matter? Should it matter? Perhaps, it was all taken from a TV series or a popular movie; perhaps it’s their idea of what a good play should be. A good play should always include a gun, a mother, a daughter and a man, and a lot of anger and a lot o hate was it all satire? Was it a drama? Perhaps it was a tragedy? What does it matter? This is all in the past it already happened, the students must have gone and presented their play in front of the class, earned a passing grade, moved on to another class to earn a degree. Those words, their play, are they all part of collective fabric? Are these patters of behaving of acting part of a collective foolery? Are they part of a collective drama? Is this a universal plot? Is this a universal issue? Is this act an isolated play? Who cares? After all, the main concern of those students was to earn a good grade. Voces para los niños Voces para los Niños – CASA es una organización sin fines de lucro ubicada en Salinas que ayuda a niños que se encuentran en cuidados de crianza o “foster care”.Nosotros capacitamos a voluntarios de nuestra comunidad que asumen el rol de CASA. CASA es un acrónimo en inglés que significa “Court Appointed Special Advocates” y en español esto significa Defensores Especiales Designados por la Corte. Los voluntarios CASA ayudan a que los niños prosperen mientras se encuentran en hogares de crianza, y también ayudan a que estos niños se establezcan en hogares seguros y permanentes lo más pronto posible. Cerca de 60% de los niños en cuidados de crianza en el Condado de Monterey son de origen Hispano, pero solo un porcentaje muy pequeño de nuestros voluntarios son Hispanos. Por eso necesitamos más representación de la cultura Hispana, no necesariamente por el idioma, pero para mantener a los niños conectados con su cultura y tradiciones. Voices for Children Voices for Children – CASA is a -profit organization located in Salinas that helps children/youth who are in Foster care. We train volunteers from the community to become CASA. Almost 60% of the children/youth we serve come from Hispanic backgrounds, yet the majority of our advocates do not reflect this cultural heritage. Dios puede darte las personas y las cosas y quitártelas si así lo quiere, porque es Dios. 2) Debes vivir siempre como si tú mismo y todas tus cosas no te pertenecieran, pensando en todo momento que tú y todo lo que tienes, es de Dios. 3) Por justicia, tienes el deber de creer sus palabras porque Dios es siempre la Verdad. Sus palabras están en el Evangelio y en lo que nos dice el Papa y la Iglesia Católica. 4) Por justicia, debes obedecer los mandamientos de Dios. JUSTICIA CON EL PRÓJIMO/JUSTICIA CON LOS DEMÁS - Es dar a cada persona, a tu esposo/a, a tus hijos, a tu jefe, a tu empleado, a tu compañero, a tu amigo..., a cada uno lo que le toca verdaderamente, lo que le pertenece, a lo que tiene derecho. - A tu esposo (a) le debes fidelidad: Tú le prometiste entregarte toda la vida. - Tus hijos tienen derecho a tu amor y a tu paciencia y a una buena educación. - A tu jefe le debes el trabajar con dedicación, y él te paga un sueldo por ello. - A tu empleado debes el pagarle un sueldo correcto de acuerdo a su trabajo. - A tu compañero le debes respeto. Tener justicia con los demás es también: - No dañar a propósito a otra persona. - No encarcelar a alguien inocente. - No decir mentiras en los tribunales. - No acusar a alguien falsamente, o si tienes duda. - No desear, ni menos robar lo que no es tuyo. Regresar cosas encontradas. - No cobrar más de lo justo por lo que vendes. - No pagar menos de lo justo cuando compras. - No cobrar más de los intereses debidos cuando prestas dinero. - No tratar de obtener siempre lo mejor para ti y lo que sobre para los demás. - No criticar, hacer juicios, decir chismes de otros. - No burlarse, ofender o maldecir a otros. - No Luchar contra el aborto. El nuevo bebé tiene derecho a vivir. No lo mates. - No hacer justicia, chisme y justicia son diferentes, no hagas pecado de omisión. JUSTICIA DISTRIBUTIVA: La persona que reparte las cosas o los puestos, debe hacerlo honestamente, según los méritos y a las necesidades de cada uno. JUSTICIA SOCIAL: Nos dice que cada una de las personas de la sociedad debe actuar para lograr el bien común, el bien de todos y no solo el suyo. Para lograr el bien de todos, se hacen las LEYES. Todos estamos obligados a obedecer esas leyes para que la convivencia en la sociedad sea más fácil y vivamos en paz. LA JUSTICIA DIVINA: Uno de los actos más nobles de la justicia es PERDONAR. Cuando alguien te ha hecho algo malo, te ha herido, tú puedes pensar: lo justo es que le desprecie, que se la regrese. Pues NO.. nada mas piensa como te perdona Dios a ti. ¿Te lo mereces, cuanto le has ofendido a lo largo de tu vida? Y Él, siempre que te arrepientes, te perdona porque te ama. ¡PUEDE MÁS SU AMOR QUE SU JUSTICIA !/¡ COMO TU PERDONES, ASÍ TE PERDONARÁ DIOS!.

PADRES A+ Se que esta afirmación puede incomodar a muchos que, con la mejor intención, realizan su tarea lo mejor que saben pero me permito compartir esto, no con el fin de enjuiciar, sino con la intención de reflexionar, aprender y mejorar. Me gustaría recordar que el origen más profundo de la palabra educar es “dar a luz”. La verdadera educación se da cuando con las acciones, experiencias significativas, palabras, gestos, estímulos, presencia; logramos que el Ser reconozca, manifieste y exprese su naturaleza. Para poder lograr esto, es necesario aprender a escuchar sus necesidades más profundas e incorporar formas de relación que ayuden a respetar y potenciar. Como educador debe aprender a escuchar su interior, esto permitirá reconocer los dones y capacidades para poder instrumentarlos al servicio de la comunidad. Este proceso es la base para lograr la autosatisfacción personal y, de este modo, compartir nuestra plenitud y felicidad alrededor. Esta es una práctica muy frecuente cuando persiguen el propósito de “educar”, usar recursos que, lejos de conseguir esto, generan en los niños actitudes que luego el mismo sistema padece. Una de esas prácticas es dejar a los niños sin descanso, sin recreo, buscando con esto que obedezcan más el permanecer más concentrados, más atentos, más quietos, más callados, más pasivos, más receptivos y más obedientes frente a las órdenes de afuera. Las preguntas frente a esta realidad son: ¿Los docentes y directivos que utilizan y defienden esta modalidad, serán del todo conscientes de las conductas que están entrenando en los niños cuando los castigan? ¿Aún creerán que el castigo es un método educativo? ¿Están en condiciones de reconocer cuáles son los motivos por los cuales, a veces resulta una tarea muy difícil de cumplir para un niño lo que ellos piden y cómo lo piden? Para los niños pequeños, estar en actividad intelectual por períodos largos que, a veces alcanzan las dos o tres horas, es una meta que les exige NO escuchar su naturaleza, su interior y sus necesidades más profundas. La exigencia es tan alta y tan deshumanizada que parece que, a la hora de diseñar los sistemas, elegir los métodos y los recursos educativos, nos hemos olvidado que un niño es, antes que nada, un niño y que; en sus primeros años de vida tiene mucho más energía impulsiva que capacidad para permanecer callado, sentado, escuchando y desarrollando su capacidad mental como podría hacerlo un adolescente o adulto. El impulso vital y la innata curiosidad de un niño es la principal materia prima para descubrir, apropiarse y conocer el mundo; sólo que él, puede hacerlo con mayor fluidez, placer, alegría y facilidad a partir de la exploración activa, haciendo, creando, armando, desarmando, inventando, construyendo, diseñando, cuestionando, probando, jugando, etc. Esta cultura ha sobredimensionado y sobrevalorado la formación intelectual imponiendo a los niños ir en contra de su naturaleza y, a partir de esto, generamos desarmonías y maltrato. Frente a esta realidad, los niños responden buscando recuperar la armonía perdida y lo hacen como pueden. Algunos con actitudes de rebeldía, otros cuestionado la autoridad por la falta de confianza que le genera el adulto que tiene la tarea de cuidar y guiar, otros rechazando el aprendizaje, otros con desmotivación y apatía y, cuando esto no alcanza para ser ESCUCHADOS, empiezan a presentar desequilibrios físicos y más tarde estados emocionales graves que van desde la tristeza aguda hasta el deseo de no vivir. Cuando un sistema está diseñado faltando el respeto a un niño, este sistema lastima, independientemente de la meta que persiga. Genera desarmonía porque su forma contiene implícitamente altísimos grados de VIOLENCIA ESTRUCTURAL. Me toca a diario escuchar la otra cara de la moneda, la que expresan los niños en el consultorio, voces de impotencia, cansancio, enojo y furia, ganas de no vivir, desmotivación generalizada, apatía, depresión, tristeza y cada vez, a más corta edad. Y avanzada la adolescencia buscan silenciar este dolor y este estado interior con el alcohol, las drogas, el sexo o la exigencia de ser “los mejores en aquello que elijan”. Los niños piden a gritos que dejemos de maltratarlos exigiéndoles antes de tiempo acomodarse a un sistema de vida o que los obliga a incorporar recursos que sólo son funcionales a un sistema cada vez más deshumanizado que lastima a grandes y chicos y que, para sostenerlo, el Hombre está pagando costos muy altos (pérdida del disfrute por lo que se hace, pérdida de sentido, anestesia emocional, adicciones a estimulantes, antidepresivos, drogas que posibiliten conciliar el sueño, etc.). Dejar a un niño sin recreo no es otra cosa que usar un método de castigo aceptado por gran parte de la sociedad que busca silenciar su voz. Un niño que está diciendo como puede y como le sale (distracción, risas, un movimiento, o una reacción impulsiva): “Ya no puedo seguir haciendo lo que me piden” y esto debe ser escuchado, primero por las madres y luego por la sociedad. Si no nos atrevemos a escuchar lo que nos están queriendo decir, no pidamos luego que ellos (91) nos escuchen y respeten831.917.4227 porque, sólo obtiene respeto aquel que es
capaz de ganarlo genuinamente porque ha aprendido a respetar; de lo contrario, sólo obtendremos de ellos sumisión, sometimiento y cuando no aguanten más rebeldía y furia. Esta vez nos toca a los adultos ponernos límites y aprender a diseñar formas de vida y educación que cuiden más nuestra naturaleza amorosa, aprender a cuestionar la corriente y decir que NO a muchas de las exigencias que esta sociedad impone. Los niños con su sensibilidad pueden ayudarnos, solo debemos animarnos a abrir el corazón, salir de la soberbia y dejarnos empapar de su sabiduría emocional que es mucho más que conocimiento.
