MOTIVATION LETTER SUMMARY
My journey that was leading me to composing this letter as an application for TU Delft University has started a while back ago. My very first direct meeting point with the process of architecture was in my childhood when I had a chance to spectate and partly participate in my parents living house designing process. It was a moment when I realized that architecture and profession of an architect is like a merging factor between dreams and reality, and even though it is science fiction today, it could be real tomorrow. Since then I was steadily and consistently working on becoming an architect and I got accepted to Vilnius Academy of Arts, faculty of Kaunas. High attention to details and an intimate relation between lecturer and the student helped me to develop not only graphics and arts-related skills, but also to understand the relation between the function, constructions, technical part and aesthetics. This proved to be right even more when I got accepted to exchange program in KU Leuven - Sint Lucas University in Ghent where I was transferred to Masters course. Learning abroad experience proved to make a great impact on the development of my perception of architecture and its constructions as well as architectural sustainability and how it all together combined provides solutions when tackling social, geographical and economical problems. There are few reasons why I am applying for Master studies in TU Delft. One of them is highly appealing and open sight of architecture that university offers. My fascination about various scale problems solving through architecture developed during visits to Netherlands where I had a possibility to get in touch with sustainability, design and a different scale of planning. A variety of projects ranging from the City of Houten, eco-quartier of Eva - Lanxmeer and finishing with works from practices like MVRDV, OMA and others, are the best proof of iconic architecture merging innovation and reality that in result serves as a solution to a wide amplitude of challenges. This type of designing highly inspired my attitude towards architecture and deeply influenced my works ranging from zero impact bridge, spiraling bike lane equipped student centre and finishing with plans on how to provide social housing when tackling the trouble of deforestation. [...] I would be interested in several specializations offered in Msc program of Architecture. To start with, The Public building design studios sounds really interesting and challenging as it develops the understanding on how Public building functions in a variety of levels as well as it puts a spotlight on the creation of a variety of strategies that could be used to tackle the problems of today and tomorrow. On the other hand, it would be also interesting to explore Architecture and Dwelling module as the importance and the demand for multi-functional buildings is growing daily. It would develop an understanding on how to join what seems opposing elements, like public and private buildings, however, most of the time exchange and diversity of functions combined together produces innovative and function wise highly efficient results. Moreover, Veldacademie program would significantly improve understanding and research skills that are vitally important when working on functionally diverse projects. [...] When considered these mentioned areas that sound most appealing to me, I would imagine my final thesis project as one that would involve numerous aspects ranging from a more global urban scale with its already existing social, historic background to its' intimate relation with spatial network of local diverse communities, their social and economical aspects. [...] Such thesis project would broaden my understanding in the research of solutions for urban and social problems and would also serve as a continuity of knowledge I gained when working on my final Bachelor project. [...]
