A cupcake to celebrate A tutorial
June Stricker
Materials: • Making Memories Slice and “Parties!” design card • adhesive and glue (such as Aleene’s Jewel-It) • black and white pearlescent textured cardstock (such as Colorbok and Coredinations Gemstones) • lavender textured cardstock • lavender patterned paper (such as Me & My Big Ideas, from Black and White Butterfly collection) • square background stamp (such as Martha Stewart acrylic stamp, plaid) • Versamark • black embossing powder and heat gun • two clear, jewel-like embellishments • vellum envelope (optional)
Using the Slice, cut out a 3 1/2-inch cupcake in patterned paper and its shadow in black pearlescent paper. Using the “Parties!” word options, cut out a 2 1/2-inch “celebrate” in lavender cardstock.
Glue cupcake to its shadow. Trim white pearlescent paper to a 3 3/4-inch square. Adhere cupcake.
Make card from black pearlescent cardstock cut to 6 inches by 12 inches. Ink stamp with Versamark. Stamp in center of card. Cover image with embossing powder; shake off excess.
Continue to stamp around the center image, applying embossing powder after each stamp. Use heat gun to emboss entire background at once.
Trim black pearlescent cardstock into four strips of 6 inches by 1/4 of an inch. Adhere strips over gaps in stamped background (may need to use glue). Adhere cupcake in center. Glue “celebrate” below that (it will overlap.) Apply an embellishment on each side of “celebrate.”
