is here! The modeling business is one of the most prestige and visual businesses in the world, a dream of many young girls and boys and an inspiration for millions. A serious business for models, agencies, managers mainly a profitable business tool to promote brands, designers and magazines. Since its inception in the 1940's the modeling business has expanded globally and today with advanced technology model managers can find models and introduce the models within seconds to partner agencies around the globe. With a large and growing community of managers (scouts) and models, the industry has become extremely competitive.
M.A.M.A unites Mother Agents/ “Managers” from around the globe in order to protect the interests of managers and models while keeping a fair balance with the interests of our partner retail agencies and agents and clients.

• “switching models” a plague that is hurting our industry. contracts must be respected. Models have the right to request a switch of managers and or agencies either by mutual consent of both parties of the agreement or by a judge decision. It is the models obligation to get a release of agreement from the court and not the managers/ mother agents. Models with the supervision of managers must not leave agencies with debts and before switching agencies the models and managers must settle outstanding debts or reach an agreement for future settlement of debt. • commissions and commission agreements. Drafting a recommended “MCA” Manager Commission Agreement advised for all members. The agreement will set the basic fundamental rules and regulations of M.A.M.A open to negotiation and most certainly to negotiate the financial terms of the agreement. *it is strictly prohibited of any M.A.M.A. directors or members to mutually agree or set rates on commissions or fees. • contracts/agreements between Managers and Models, MAMA will advise its members on the basic requirements for a proper manager representation agreement. this includes the right to represent the model, model career planning, model placement with partner agencies, negotiate on the models behalf and manage the model activities internationally. • model welfare as managers that have many of times exclusive world wide agreements with models, we must stay alert to the models welfare and wellbeing. M.A.M.A supports the initiatives of various organizations such such as the model alliance and join in making the model business and working conditions a better place for models especially for underage models. • bridging disputes between managers/models/ agents. M.A.M.A.’s, directors, members, volunteers, legal and financial consultants will be made available to consult members in order to guide and possibly resolve disputes or issues with the aim of reaching a mutually agreed bridging solution and thus offering the parties the ability to continue to work together.

Refashioned Photography: Remon van den Kommer (www.remonvandenkommer.nl) Make Up and Hair: Davidson Mendes Design and Styling: Thomas Horst (www.horstcouture.com) Models: Lisanne Sanders and Sippora Jackson Location: Remainings of the St. Marie Cloister (1100), Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Story of editorial:
„We organised a photoshoot in collaboration with an american Green fashion designer – Horst Couture – to show that Green fashion can be avant/garde and fashionable too!, - says Remon. - The clothes are made out of filt/wool but you wouldn't even be able to tell untill you feel the soft fabric. The coloured pieces are painted with organic/green products as well“. „Because the designs are a bit theatrical/ avant garde. We chose for a sober and ancient old location, the remaining hallways of an old cloister from the year 1100“.
About the photographer:
Remon van den Kommer is a young dutch upcoming photographer with an huge passion for fashion. „I try to be different in the way I approach the things or people I photograph, says he. - I don't want to be talked about as ''another'' photographer. I want to be known for my own style, to be different, and still make beautiful pictures“.

INTERVIEW
In April We Trust:
Interviewwith
Anastasiya Lazurenko Alexis Heim Born and based in Ukraine, with both eyes wide open and looking at the whole world surrounding her while her hands hold her camera and her fingers are always ready to push the button that turns a view into a vision. Anastasiya Lazurenko debuted young and made her way step by step. Halfway between documentary and fashion photography, always strongly connected to the characters she aims to portray, Anastasiya's photography can be describe as instinctive and organic for the biggest part of her work. Here is a portrait of a young, talented and perfectionist woman full of dreams and determinated to turn them into her very own visual reality that she started to built on a website named in April We Trust (www.inaprilwetrust.com). Raw poetry at its finest.
36 WWW.JURGITA.COM
Let's begin with the beginnings: how did you become a photographer? What was the initial kick that push you into photography and, now, what keeps inspiring you when you put your hands on a camera? I know the question is a classic but we have to start somewhere... I was about seven years old when I first looked through the viewfinder, I loved the world, it's much better as you create it. It's like philosophy - you are what you shoot. Then it was a very complicated mazy way which never ends. But, actually, me becoming a photographer and understanding it as art through ISSP (International Summer School of Photography) in Latvia and persons like Julija Bercovica, Kristaps Lapins, Hellen van Meene and Alexandr Gronsky (for the photographyworld you do not need to mention who they are). Gronsky is the Jesus of photography and that's all. I'm happy to be held by them. You know studying there was like a photography-samadhi for an ordinary film-photographer and young girl from the Ukrainian province. This School creates and gathers world stars in photography, the energy of art which influences the whole world. But you always lack words when you speak about the highest levels, you can just feel it.
37 WWW.JURGITA.COM
INTERVIEW
Some people wouldn't call your work fashion photography, but I think it's precisely the opposite. Your photographs go back to the real roots of fashion photography, in other words: the character portrayed on the image. Today's mainstream magazine are totally obsessed with clothes while I do believe, fashion is first a matter of persons, characters, women with style and personality. How would you describe your own work? Fashion photographers call it documentary and documentary photographers fashion, it's the highest compliment for me as I always wanted to mix it and make art. My main purpose is to make the world better with it and I do not care about other things, really. Fashion is about selling, we cannot forget about it and photography is just one of the means, but genius people are everywhere from finance management to retouchers and it's all about energy and that you should make your work perfect, absolutely perfect with the million percent feedback.
38 WWW.JURGITA.COM
On the same topic, fashion photography has become more commercial lately. Even Vogue Paris, considered one of the most prestigious publication worldwide has recently taken a more commercial road. Pictures are often too much retouched and have lost their organic connection to the character. Meanwhile, the younger generation of photographers have a more natural approach and this is true from New York to Kiev, from Paris to Bucharest etc. Your work has this raw quality and aspect as well. What's your point of view on retouching and on this trend of "fake perfection" going on a bit everywhere in the world? What's your opinion on magazine always hiring the same photographers doing the same kind of visuals while diversity exists and seems never promoted by the major players? I can retouch one image a week to make it perfect and don't let it lose the energy. It has been always connected, photography and retouching, firstly retouching was on negatives and it was a very difficult process, now it is much easier. Yes, the wave of raw and more natural photography is obvious but personally I love all photographers that carry energy, deepness and it works, it's about the feeling. As for the hiring system, when you are making first steps in photography you always think: "Oh, why Meisel/Weber/ Walker/Roversi again? I can do the same! Why not me?!" But when you get deeper and deeper, you begin to understand why and why you should pass the long way, professionally and personally; but genius are always in demand, even young, remember Tim Walker and Ryan McGinley, they began at a very young age for photographers. Luck and talent is good but a lot of work and self-perfection along with these two are much better.
39 WWW.JURGITA.COM
INTERVIEW You live and work in Ukraine. I've developed a geniune interest in photographers that work outside of the main areas, cities and countries, and I'm always interested in how they evolve in places that aren't known as capitals of photography (or fashion), places that don't have dozens of magazines of all kinds. How does it feel to work as a photographer in Ukraine? Do you have any specific projects there? I suppose such photographers even have an advantage as they know then what is to get high from the very first step of ladder, Internet makes it more possible now to reach upper levels, but nevertheless if I hadn't been to all places I have visited for both work and study and travek on my own, I wouldn't have the quality and understanding I have now. But people are different. The disadvantage is I have less work and money here. But I believe it's temporary as if I want to make progress in what I want to do in photography I should move somewhere else. Back to your work, as I feel characters play a first role in the composition of your photographs, what are you looking for in a model? How do you find them and what inspires you in a face, a personality? I just fell in love with every person I shoot, I consider young beautiful girls the strongest and most beautiful part of our physical world, they have that mysterious sexual energy and they do not know what to do with it, it's investigation, it's great. Appearance comes first but I never mistake that personality is no comments, I always catch the charisma, maybe because everyone has it and I feel it. I feel the beauty but I should work more and more to express everything I feel, now it is about 5 percent. This interview comes to an end and, as we've started with a classical question, I thought it'd be fair to close this conversation on a similar note. What are your current and future projects? Is there something, someone, somewhere you want to shoot; any specific idea you have in mind for an upcoming photo session or theme you'd like to explore? I'm shooting homeless girls and working on a great project about Russia. And, in parallel, I do some fashion-work, but photography as art is more important for me. To be honest I want to shoot everything from the war to the still life, to carry crazy energy of our beautiful world. What is the purpose of art? Yes, definitely uniting with absolute through catharsis. Oh, I'll try.

Designer Maria Popadnicenko Young Lithuanian designer Maria Popadnicenko was studiyng fashion design at the International Institute of Fashion Design & Marketing (Florence, Italy) and graduated in 2011 with her collection "Late Gothic". Zaha Hadid's architecture in Insbruck and the woman's portrait of the flemish painter Rogier van Weyden served as inspiration to depict a woman with a certain firewall who withstands negative influences from outside. 89 WWW.JURGITA.COM

Designer Riccardo Serravalle “With the first rays of dawn, we start our new day, realising that our family is the most important part in our life. Without them, we would not exist and it brings us to think about how wonderful life is. The desire to see the sun rise each morning and to feel the power. An incredible power, we cannot control, but which is more freedom and the joy of living than anything else. AURA is the way to live life the way you want it to live. To put yourself in focus, show inspiration, elegance, grace and tradition. Rays of sun are always a little bit rays of God.
96 WWW.JURGITA.COM
That’s how aspiring fashion designer Riccardo Serravalle describes his first collection AURA. “To me the dresses seem like the sun beams he is talking about and while doing the photo shoot with him I realised how much they really embody what he was talking about. Live your life and don’t wait for it!” Riccardo's work is inspired by the old fashion houses like Chanel or Dior. When Fashion was a way of expressing art and when it was not only about all the money in the industry, but also about showing how to move people with your work. Back to the roots to the craft of creating fashion that’s the inspiration Riccardo used for his collection. As a young designer, he already has achieved some great accomplishments: like two times Tradewinds Style Award winner and great critiques for his collection AURA, but Riccardo is such a humble person. His family is from Sicily, Italy and that’s why he also speaks Italian fluently. A great start to work abroad, like Milan. Also his roots gifted him with a certain style, which you will find in his designs: Tradition and modern fast pace. For his future a new summer collection is planned, an own fragrance and creating new, breathtaking gowns. I guess we will find our team ge together here again next year, shooting his current collection and being honored to work together with so many creative and great people.
