LIFE LOVE

MUSIC FAITH

HOLLY WOOD ANDERSON

From Homeless To Hollywood: Anderson From ‘American Idol’ Shares His Story “Hollywood” Anderson, the guitar-strumming singer who made Jennifer Lopez cry, has the perfect name for an “American Idol” contestant. He also has a backstory that affects more young people than many realize: he knows what life is like for a homeless young person. According to the Covenant House, just under half of homeless people in the United States are under the age of 18. Scary, right? In fact, each year 2 million kids have an experience with homelessness. But Anderson's story serves as a reminder that homelessness doesn't have to be forever. After moving to New York, the young musician received help from the Covenant House, including his own (and very first!) guitar. He was ready for his “Idol” audition, and the help he received from the Covenant House was highlighted by the show. Now Anderson is getting mega love from Hollywood, and I’m not talking about his own name. The soulful crooner is ready to kick out stereotypes about homelessness and help homeless youth, and he's also got his eyes on the prize: guest-starring on "The Ellen Show" and singing for the First Family. “I love Ellen, I want to be on ‘Ellen,’” he said. “Also, I want to sing for the Obamas and make Michelle and his daughters cry and say, ‘Hollywood did it.’” People can definitely rise out of homelessness, and they do so every day when they receive the right opportunities and help. Can you tell us about the situation that first led you to being homeless? HOLLYWOOD ANDERSON: I’ve dealt with it quite a bit. After my parents got divorced, we were displaced. Around the time I was fifteen or sixteen my parents got divorced and I dealt with it going forward. I once again found myself house hopping. I was homeless through my teenage years, quite a bit. By the time I came to New York at nineteen, I ended up at the Covenant House. What are some stereotypes about being homeless that need to end? ANDERSON: I think one of the biggest things is that they’re nobodies. But they’re such beautiful people. You know what I mean? They can tell you stories that will change your life, the way you do business, the way you write a song, sing a song. Just because they’re down and out doesn’t make them part of some other continent or something, where you can’t get to them. You can still reach out and try to help them and change their lives. Homeless people are people too. How did Covenant House help you? ANDERSON: When I came in, I didn’t even know Covenant House existed. I had just come to New York. I was staying at the Bellevue Men’s Shelter. I was actually walking around Times Square – I used to do this every day when I first came to New York. I was looking for somebody to sing to who could be famous or known and give me a chance. I’m a kid from the South; what do I know about New York? I walked with some other kid who was homeless; I didn’t know it at the time. He played the guitar; I could sing. We walked around like an hour, hour and a half, singing. He took me to the Covenant House. They asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said, “I want to be the next great thing. I want to be this generation’s Sammy Davis, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, James Brown.” She [the worker at Covenant House] was like, “That’s so amazing.” Then I said, “Also, with a hint of Jamie Foxx.” She was like, “I can’t wait for you to come in and see what we can do to help you.” They got me my first guitar. I mean, they helped me with everything.

HOLLYWOOD ANDERSON ‘People can definitely rise out of homelessness, and they do so every day when they receive the right opportunities and help,’ says Hollywood Anderson. MTV: We love the song you auditioned with! What other kinds of songs do you write? ANDERSON: I write music from a very personal place, even if it’s a more pop-y sounding record. All my songs are heavily emotionally drawn. I write records that are pop; I also write rap songs. I like to rap as well and not a lot of people know that. It’s a night-and-day difference. Me rapping, talking about my life in a way that might be too hard for me to put into a love song, per se. I talk about racism and the violence in communities and how I grew up seeing friends join gangs and get killed. I also write super uptempo records. I do soul music too; I’ll write about anything that comes from the heart. How can people help Covenant House and homeless youth? ANDERSON: People will label [homeless youth] and write off their future because they don’t have a home right now or don’t have family. But if you want to “feed” [the young people], you have to start with creativity. If the kid wants to draw, buy him pencils and pens. Contribute to the Covenant House’s music program. We really don’t have a budget; a donor came in and dropped off some equipment and we went into a room and made it our studio. Creativity is music and mind. I think giving to the art projects can have amazing results. I want to give a shoutout to Kandi from “Real Housewives Of Atlanta” – thanks for the Facebook post! Kirko Bangz, thank you for the tweet. Adrian Broner, the tweets and Instagram post meant a lot! Thank you, Insidehoops.com for its awesome writeup! Brittani Bader, she’s such a beautiful person. And last but not least, Ashton Kutcher for making me cry. Also shoutouts to all my other fans who wake up in go to bat for me and my music!

CoKaane is currently residing in Columbia writing and working on her debut project, “In My Feel’Nz,” which she plans to debut before the Spring, as well as a few other projects with some other local artists in the Columbia area. Although music is her passion, shes never taken a music class and she refers to some influential names such as Patty La Belle, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Faith Evans, and Aaaliyah as her inspirational music teachers.”Ive always been told you can do anything, if only you put your mind to it.” She has been informed that she has background relation to the late Teddy Pendergrass as well as hip hop mogul Big Boi on her fathers side and would like to discover how true that is further into her musical career. Music has always been her motive, but she never had the strong ambition or drive until the tragic loss of her grandfather and the recent break up of a decade long friendship, which really made her want to show the world and the industry her hunger and everything that she has to offer. CoKaane says that she has goals and ambition in the industry to make a point that anyone can accomplish their dreams, as long as they put their mind to it. “Life is an obstacle course. What better way to express your feelings than to write and sing about it, if you haven’t lived it you cant speak on it.” From that, anyone who has heard anything from Black-CoKaane has stated that her music is great and very relative to other people and situations. She says once she gets public she wont stop with singing. She wants to collaborate with some big names (NOT JUST ONE GENRE), explore acting and modeling and be that face that media just cant get enough of. “This aint no he say, no cliche, it came from my Lord Jesus it is just the beginning and stay tuned because there is so much more to come.” -BlackCoKaane

MIKE PRINCE JR. CEO OF FREAK A - LOT ENTERTAINMENT. Jusbu Magazine had the great prevliged to get invited out to Mike Prince single release “I DO THIS”, at club Epic as his exclusive media for that night. After an amazing turn out he then invited us to the historical RAP-A-LOT Music Studios for an all exclusive one on one interview:

Jusbu Magazine had the privileged of getting invited to Mike Prince’s single release party at Club Epic. We also were his exclusive media for the night. After an amazing turn out he then invited us to the historical RAP A LOT music studios for an exclusive one on one interview: Q: How did u feel about last night’s turn out at your event? A: If its one or twenty thousand I’m gonna rock the same. I feel good just to be in a position to do it.

Q: What made you make the transition to an artist ? What made you expand your “I DO THIS” brand to the music industry and What brought you from being behind the scenes into the spotlight? A: Well, Ive always been very diverse in everything. Being an artist is very different, but its truly an adventure. Ive always been more behind the scenes in the management and marketing side of the business, but to take the front allows me not to only find success in it, but to be able to open up doors for many others to follow.

Q: What is the secret of success in the music industry? A: Constant consistency. Constant grind everyday. No matter what you do don’t switch up.

Q: How did you come up with the name of the song “ I DO THIS”? A: “ I DO THIS” is a brand I created that everyone can make personal. FROM THE STREETS TO THE SUITES is what I like to say lol. Not discriminating on no one but everyone has something that they do or enjoy doing by individualizing the situation. To many people put you in a box and I refuse to let someone say we from the south all sound the same. I will not be limited to or characterized as sounding or acting as such . Whatever it is that you do no no matter how hard you try people try to change or limit your character. My team is strong and we all are different and have our own paths in life. No matter what you do, do it to the best of your ability.

Q: What motivates you to keep striving for your goals? What keeps you motivated to keep going everyday? A: Just being able to breath and just knowing that Ive been blessed. No matter what it is I do I’m gonna keep God first. Im not passing judgment but building a different path for future generations and even for myself because a lot of people lost touch with whats really going on. I don’t like the “ BIG ME’S AND LITTLE YOUS ” type of scenarios. I can be doing anything else in this world but I love my team. All of them have their own personality, and thats very dear to me it personally means a lot.

Q: How long have u been in this industry? A: “ I WAS BORN IN NOT SWORN IN.. LOL” My family we breed this in all areas. Music, marketing and everything in business period, we good at what we do. Most people know about the boxing and music, but it goes beyond what people see. We are God fearing, we keep him first in everything we do. By this and being just me I would like to continue the legacy, lay the bricks down in many other directions. I’m a man thats not afraid to cut my own trail. Thats why I’m very particular on who I associate myself with and open myself up to. If you notice, my team is mostly women. I’m different, im very passionate on women empowerment. Instead of a lot of men on your team and stage l have women and who gonna tell me I cant do that. Im me. Instead of looking in, look out, its all about positioning being in a Male dominate situation. You see dozens of men teams all the time , do something different. I wanna open that door for the women to have that same chance and respect. I want to Acknowledge and Empower women everywhere, and im gonna continue to do this.

Q: When will your next event be? We working we always working. By time you put this out we would’ve done many already lol. Just continue to follow me. We constantly grinding everyday. Im very passionate in this movement.

Q: Who’s your top five favorite artist? A: WELL THATS EASY,,, MIKE PRINCE times 5 LOL. I admire many artist and there legacy its well respected, but right now im an artist. Im not self centered and I will always remain humble, but right now its Mike Prince times5 LOL.

Q: Are there any upcoming artist you are looking at that got your attention? A: I have an artist named Drew Castillo. He is Hispanic, and many people don’t really know how to embrace that even in a dominate situation. He goes by Freaky Fresh. He is under my label Freak - A- Lot Records. Been cooking up some good gumbo with him and I’m about to let the world taste it. All homemade no powder roux.

LAVONDA HARRIS 1. Can you tell us a little about who Lavonda is and what drives you to want to help others make a positive change in their life? Lavonda is a girl who been through so much but came out victorious. Because she chooses to not play the victim to her past but be the change. Growing up I always wanted to help people love themselves and be better. And I love fitness and always loved it. And thats my gift to the world. To help inspire anyone to just be the best them they can be spite their past. 2.What makes you unique from everyone else? Where to start? Haha I think the fact I wasn’t even suppose to be here and if I was I wasn’t going to be very healthy/ normal. I was born 3 months premature and a crack baby. Those 2 mixtures are hard to go through medical wise in 2016 could you imagine it in 1988. So I feel uniquely blessed that I’m here and striving. 3.How long have you been dedicated to health and fitness? I fell in love with fitness in 10th grade. I knew that’s what I wanted to do. But life gets the best of you. But in 2014 I fell back in love and will never let life get the best of me again. 4.Can you tell us a little bit about your journey to a better healthier you? I was 24 when I decided I need to get back in the gym consistently. I looked in the mirror and didn’t like what I looked like. And I can control that. So even though I am a certified trainer I hired a trainer in Raleigh NC named Joe Owens. After changing my diet and being in the gym every single day I decided with the motivation from Joe to compete. He use to compete when he was younger. And long story short I’ve done 4 competitions thus far and am looking to do my pro debut in 2017. 5.Can anyone get in shape and live a healthier life? Yes. Absolutely yes. It is a choice you make for yourself. And there is help every where. Gyms, online forums etc 6.Do you have a meal plan or a special diet to keep yourself in shape? I meal plan more when it’s time to show prep. But in every day life I try to drink a gallon of water a day. And stay away from snack foods.

7.What kind of exercise do you do to stay fit? What day? Haha I train 5 days a week 6 times a week. I weight train more than anything. And because I am trying to gain muscle I do more weight less reps. 8.Do you have any advice to those that feel like they cant afford to eat healthy? I wish It were different but it is expensive. The only tip I have is try to find a farmer’s market to save on the vegetables and fruit. And meal prepping in advance can help with expenses because it helps with not over eating. 9.What kind of advice can you give to those who are wanting to live a healthier life but cant find the inspiration to do so? First search within yourself and find out your why. Why you want to do it. Use that to get started. And then as you get started I believe you will find inspiration a long the way. You’ll find there is a fit family out there and we all stick together and we love to help each other and give advice and ideas. And once you see the difference you’ll be addicted. And it is such a great addiction to have. 10.What is your biggest accomplishment? Becoming a mother.. I’ve always knew I was a strong woman physically and mentally but having a child naturally in the water and then breastfeeding her (10 months and counting)...is what I’m most proud of. And continuing to workout and get on a fitness schedule since giving birth is also a huge accomplishment to me it’s easy to get stuck in mommy mode. 11. Would you like to give a shout out to anyone? My daughter Rose. My Big Princess Silea My better half Brady Wilson My trainer(Papa) Joe Owens And my best friend Angie Locklear

The 3 Juice Colon Cleanse: How Apple, Ginger and Lemon Can Flush Pounds of Toxins From Your Body Nowadays, people often suffer from common health issues which are linked to the digestive system and its function, like damaged gut, chronic constipation, or IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). The role of the colon is of vital importance for the overall health as it removes the waste from the body and cleanses the toxins which endanger health. In order to improve its function, you need to cleanse all the accumulated waste and dangerous chemicals. The following homemade recipe is 100% natural and simple but provides impressive effects in cleansing your colon. Remember that during the colon cleanse procedure you must stay home as you will need to visit the toilet often while removing the toxins. It consists of ingredients which are high in essential nutrients, including sea salt, lemon, apples, and ginger. Numerous studies have found that the consumption of only an apple a day greatly reduces the need for prescription drugs, while ginger stimulates the colon, and thus reduces stomach bloating, and eliminating waste. On the other hand, lemon is abundant in vitamin C, which is a potent antioxidant and is also one of the best detox tools you can use. Sea salt helps digestion, pushes waste through the body, and eliminates toxins. You will only need 5 minutes to prepare this remedy: Ingredients: 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice ½ teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon ginger juice ½ cup 100 percent pure organic apple juice ½ cup warm, purified water Method of preparation: Add 3.5 oz. of filtered water in a pan and warm it up, but do not boil it. Pour it into a glass, add the sea salt, and stir well. Then, add the ginger, lemon, and apple juice, stir well once again and drink it right away. Use: Initially, drink this remedy three times daily, a dose in the morning, before your breakfast, before lunch, and around 6-7 pm in the evening. Make sure you drink plenty of water during this treatment, at least 8 glasses daily. It is best to drink water from the morning till mid-afternoon, as you will thus prevent frequent urination urges during the night. Even though it is completely natural and safe, in the case of pregnancy, allergies, or some other disease, or you take some prescription drugs, you should consult your doctor before you start this colon cleanse procedure. It should not be consumed in the case of diabetes, as it is rich in natural sugar from the apple juice. You can do this colon cleanse method for one day or maximum a week. In this way, you will speed up your metabolism, help digestion, and completely detoxify your body. DOWNTOWN HOUSTON

Golden Girl: Bea Arthur’s shelter for homeless LGBT youth will open in 2017 When actress Bea Arthur died, she bequeathed $300,000 to New York City‘s Ali Forney Center for homeless LGBT youth. The Golden Girls and Maude star, a long-time supporter of the LGBT community, will continue to be a friend when a new 18 bed shelter opens in February of 2017. “These kids at the Ali Forney Center are literally dumped by their families because of the fact that they are lesbian, gay or transgender,” Arthur said before she died. “This organization really is saving lives.” While the project was originally slated to open this year, construction was delayed due to the many code violations racked up against the derelict building. Renovations have started moving rapidly now and the building is about 40% complete. When finished, the facility will also offer on-site counseling and case management services. The project has also been funded by the city for $3.3 million. According to the Williams Institute, 40% of homeless youth are LGBT. By Bil Browning

JASMINE THURMAN My name is Jasmine Thurman, I am 20 years old. This is my first time modeling. I have wanted to model since I was a little girl but i let other peoples opinion get to me and I dealt with insecurities and self esteem issues. Im fighting it and learning to except the woman i am and to embrace my beauty and not let anyone or anything get in my way or try to take my dream from me. I want to embrace what I was so scared to show and not only prove to everyone else but most importantly to myself that I have what it takes. To be a model it takes dedication and motivation. If your not motivated your not dedicated.

Cancer Patient Given 18 Months to Live is Cured by Cannabis Oil October 23, 2016 |  Health, Natural Remedies |  0 |  admin Doctors believed that David Hibbitt, 33-year-old, from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England, had only 18 months more to live before he found the miracle that saved his life and helped him enjoy life with his new bride. Yet, after experiencing the negative side-effects of conventional treatments, and they failed to improve his condition, he decided to try a treatment with cannabis oil, which cost £50 ($80) a gram from a local dealer. David explained: “ Friends had told me about cannabis oil and I dismissed it at first. I’ve never been into drugs. I felt like the chemo was killing me and I had nothing to lose. I could not really accept I was going to die.” David initially tried chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and in March 2013, his large bowel was surgically removed, but it also failed to deliver a positive outcome. Yet, the treatment with the cannabis oil provided surprising effects, and he is nor planning his future together with his partner of six years, Heather Martin, 26. The Cancer Research UK reports that they are aware that many cancer patients treat themselves with cannabis extracts, but they say that there is still not relevant evidence from clinical trials that it is a safe and effective cancer treatment. However, the charity supports clinical trials to examine the use of this drug and a synthetic cannabinoid in the treatments of cancer.
