CELEBRATING WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION

In many rural towns, women have been making significant strides in the construction industry with increased participation, education & support networks. While historically a maledominated field, more and more women are entering the construction workforce and excelling in various roles.

One reason for this shift is the increasing demand for skilled labor in rural areas, which has created opportunities for women to pursue careers in construction. Additionally, there is a growing recognition of the value that women bring to the industry, including their attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work well in teams. Women in construction in rural towns often face unique challenges, such as limited access to training and education programs,

CATT recognizes these challenges for women and support all the women who work in this industry as well as the many woman owned businesses who are members of CATT. Our committee, Celebrating Women in Construction, is working on initiatives to support our members as women working in construction numbers increase.

We are proud to celebrate Meghan Behm of Sierra Crest Cabinets, the first woman appointed as our Board President. Additionally, Heather Schourup of EDC Builders is Vice President of our Board. Both Meghan and Heather are leaders in our industry and own their companies.

Overall, women in construction in rural towns are helping to diversify the industry and bring new perspectives and ideas to the table. With continued support and opportunities for growth, women will continue to play an important role in shaping the future in construction in rural communities.
