CATT-A-LOG • THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR MEMBERS OF CATT
Christmas Holiday Party Beats All Time Attendance Record!
O
ver 400 CATT members and friends crowded the Regency Ballroom at the Hyatt Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, NV on December 12th, setting a new attendance record for this popular event. Beating the old record of 365 attendees in 2013, the 2014 party saw 442 people enjoy great socializing, delectable food, great music and fabulous prizes. The Party Committee’s blue and white Winter Wonderland theme was carried out in all the decorations and set the tables with a variety of sponsored gifts. Appetizers were served, raffle ticket sellers were out in force, the Photo Booth was so popular there was a waiting list, and a PowerPoint of all award nominees was shown in the time before everyone sat down to dinner. Master of Ceremonies Rich Molsby (Molsby & Bordner, LLP) presided over the evening program, introducing board members, party sponsors, BMD and Marvin folks having a good time (L-R) Melissa Foster, Jason Foster, Kris Wells, Damian Wells (CA Craftsman), Teri Ziemer, Michelle Rowley Reed, Joe Johnson CATT staff and thanking the party committee volunteers. Following dinner, Rich the MC became Rich the Auctioneer and along with his bid takers commanded some high prices for the auction items. “Forget The Roses” rounded out the evening with great dance music. The event serves a dual purpose: have fun celebrating the end of a very successful 2014 and raise funds for CATT. Thanks to our many sponsors, supporters, and volunteers for making the 2014 Party the greatest CATT has ever had!

A NOTE FROM THE
President
(All meetings at the CATT office unless otherwise noted)
L
et me first welcome our newest CATT members. This truly is an organization that works hard for the industry and its members. It’s been an amazing experience to sit aside fellow CATT members on our board of directors and various committees made up of the best in the industry’s trades and professions. The results that this organization and its staff have produced over the years have been staggering. These accomplishments have been produced by members who not only give their time and skills to CATT, but believe in supporting other members. Due to these efforts CATT has built a solid foundation for our future and continues to do so. Looking to 2015 I expect we’ll see new successes, great fellowship, and changes that will again strengthen the organization. I am honored to serve as your President for 2015 and look forward to meeting new members and working with some of them on one or many of our Committees or sister organizations (C.A.T.T. Community Project and CATTPAC). I’d like to thank our Past President, Gary Crosswhite. I had the privilege of working with Gary on our board and various issues. He did this with integrity and a constant effort to review the up to date efforts within the organization. His attitude and direction are to be commended and he set the tone for another great year for CATT. I’ll do my best to lead using his example and I look forward to working closely with many of you. Here’s to another year of achievements for members by our members and staff! Joshua Root

TRUCKEE BUILDING & SAFETY DIVISION NEWS
F
irst off, from all of us in the Town of Truckee’s Building Division, we wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year. The New Year will bring new ideas, new programs, new partnerships, and new relationships that will be focused on improving efficiencies for our customers. To begin the New Year, the Community Development Department will be going in front of Town Council for a budget amendment for both planning and building. As this amendment relates to building, we will be requesting an additional position within our department as a true utility player. We will be looking at recruiting for this position, if approved, during the winter months to be ready for the next construction season. This position would fill the division’s needs in a variety of capacities including plan review as well as field inspections; we are very excited about this. The other portion of this, which I think you will all be thrilled to hear, is that we plan on opening the doors back up five days a week sometime in the spring. We feel that the workload, the discussion within the different groups that I participate in, and Survey Monkey responses warrant this decision. We will discuss this internally and set a date and be sure to let everyone know when this will go into effect. We look forward to keeping the momentum going in the right direction; working together with our customers as well as our regional partners in 2015. We have made tremendous strides in the past year with our regional partners and feel that we have only begun to see the amazing opportunities in front of us. As always, my door or phone line is always open and I welcome your feedback, ideas, concerns, etc… so feel free to come by anytime you wish.
