By Kirk Wooldridge, General Manager

FOR THE 2020–2022 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION, there are four board positions up for election. For this election we have fourteen candidates running on the ballot and they are: Kelci Binau, Albert Chandler, Pat Disney, John Eshelman, Bonnie Halleran, Michael Keller, Keiron McCammon, Robert Meyers, Dave Peterson, Steve Shepherd, Rich Walton, Bryan Welsh, Ken Williams, and Peter Wolcott.

As of July 23rd, 2020 the following Board of Directors Candidates have rescinded their self-nomination for the 2020 Board of Directors—Annual Election: Stuart Roberson and Kelly Shanahan.

TOWN HALL FORUM

On July 23rd, 2020, the Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association (TKPOA) held a ‘Meet the Candidates’ Town Hall Forum online via Gotomeeting from 5:00 pm– 9:00 pm. We are pleased to report that we had over 60 interested property owners in attendance.

The following candidates attended the Town Hall Forum Kelci Binau, Albert Chandler, Pat Disney, Bonnie Halleran, Michael Keller, Keiron McCammon, Robert Meyers, Dave Peterson, Steve Shepherd, Bryan Welsh, and Peter Wolcott and answered two standard “prenoticed” questions:

1.

2.

Explain why you are interested in serving as a TKPOA Board Member and what qualifications you have to serve as a Board Director. Explain your goals for the Association as a Board Director.

Candidates in attendance also answered the following questions from TKPOA property owners in the audience in a rotating panel format:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Please explain your perspective of the rights and responsibilities of full time residents versus part time residents. Do you believe that all property owners should have the same water quality fees? There are members that do not have lake access and others that do. Should these people pay the same for water quality? Will you support the people of South Lake Tahoe to ban VHRs after 2021 as stipulated by Measure T? Do you think the current vacation rental permit fees (for TKPOA) are to high, to low, or about right? What are your top two actions you want to take to minimize milfoil (aquatic invasive weeds)?

9. 10.

Have you or your family ever been awarded a contract in the Tahoe Keys for work on any of the facilities or property in the Tahoe Keys for profit? How do you feel about Committee Members and Board Members getting TKPOA bids for their business? What do you think about signing an MOU with TRPA and do you feel the homeowners should be allowed to vote on any MOU proposal? Given that Measure T was passed and will be going into effect beginning January 2021 through December 31, 2021 and given that the courts have recently upheld the measure on appeal, please identify if you are a vacation home rental owner or property manager. How do you feel about family basketball hoops on driveways? How do you feel about lights having to be shut off at 10:00 pm in the Keys even though it might be a safety or security issue? Do you feel the Keys has overspent the reserves at this time? Do you feel a survey should be done for important decisions to have input from everybody in a more modern way integrating technology as a tool to count all people?

A big “Thank You” goes out to the TKPOA Board Candidates that participated and those TKPOA property owners that attended the Town Hall Forum.
