DOWNTOWN
meet our personal trainers Meet our Personal Trainers Traci Dean I have been a personal trainer
for over 10 years. I graduated from UNR with a fitness management degree. I love the fitness world and making people feel better about themselves. Helping my clients achieve their personal goals is the greatest part of my job! I am ACE, TRX, Pilates and Tabata boot camp certified. I have worked with teens, and I love to work out with all ranges, stages and ages! If working out doesn’t sound fun or exciting, give me a call and let’s see if I can change your mind!
Gabriel Grobben I have a bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of Nevada. My sports background is mainly in tennis; I played competitively on the USTA Junior National circuit from ages 8 to 17, competing all over northern California and the west coast. During college, I became active in CrossFit and in the summer of 2010, I got my Level 1 coaching certification to start teaching the CrossFit method to friends and family and eventually personal training clientele. In the fall of 2012, after two years of personal training experience and four years of CrossFit competition and training, I took the next step and took the Coach’s Prep certification. In late December, I was accepted into a Master’s degree program at California State University, Long Beach, which I will be pursuing this fall.
Personal Training

Taney Ratcliffe I was raised in Carson City and I hold a degree in finance/economics from UNR. I received my nutrition certification through Venice Nutrition in 2009. I have a great passion for healthy eating, and I believe that a healthy lifestyle begins with food. After educating myself about the alarming rate of childhood obesity, I decided to get my personal training certification through NESTA in August 2012 with the desire of someday starting a kiddie boot camp or kids’ CrossFit program. I continue to learn about health and fitness by reading daily, taking continuing education courses, and being an active part of my community co-op. I truly believe that everyone needs a little motivation and guidance in leading a healthy lifestyle, and that’s where I can help! Ash Cramond Growing up in Australia, I
spent most of my time outdoors, involved in many different activities such as golf, tennis, mountain biking and numerous water sports. After moving to the States, I lived in Mammoth, where I spent time training clients for skiing and snowboarding. I have over 12 years of experience as an ACE certified personal trainer and extra certifications in pre and post natal fitness, nutrition counseling and special population training, specifically working with older adults dealing with arthritis and osteoporosis. I take the passion I have for health and wellness and the experiences I’ve had over the years as a personal trainer and devote it to helping others live rich and healthy lifestyles

Rules & Regulations Reminder
The AGC guidelines state, “Dark green vinyl coated 16 gauge containment wiring, with see-through opening dimensions not to exceed 2 inches by 2 ½ inches, is the only approved containment wire that can be used to line two rail split rail and/or three rail split rail fencing.” The guidelines further state that the “wire must be attached to the inside face (side not exposed to public view). Wire must cover the full height of the fence, from the ground to the top rail.” While we are aware that many homeowners have problems with rabbits eating the vegetation in their yard, please continue to follow the AGC Guidelines, the CC&Rs and Rules & Regulations of the Association.
Compliance Information
To report a non-compliance, please email or call Sean Stapleton at sstapleton@mysomersett.com or 787-4500 ext 322. Please note that while we do investigate and document each complaint received, we cannot disclose the status of anyone’s account. Should a homeowner not respond to or correct a violation, he or she will be summoned to a hearing at which time they could be suspended from the Club and assessed fines. Once fines reach $500, a lien could be placed on the property. At this time the Association has a policy not to enter a property, unless it is bank owned, and then only to repair front yard landscaping.
Did you Know?
The Aesthetic Guidelines Committee is a group of paid professionals who review, comment and approve plans submitted by homeowners. They utilize the Aesthetic Guidelines adopted by the Board of Directors for the Association as well as the requirements outlined in the City’s Planned Unit Development (PUD) documents for Somersett. Homeowners have the opportunity to meet with the Committee when they are having plans reviewed, as well as appeal a decision first to the AGC and then to the Board of Directors if necessary. 18

Plan Ahead
Some of the first sets of homes built in the community are approaching 10 years. With the age of homes comes the need for some exterior upkeep, especially with painting. As we head into spring and summer, take a look at your exterior to see if you need to schedule painting to ensure compliance with the CC&R’s Art. 4 Sec. 14.

n this day and age of easy access to your personal information, there are many precautions you can take to fend off those who are bent on taking on a new identity, by stealing yours. Notarization of important, personal documents is one way to create an environment of safety for your name and signature. A notary public provides services to acknowledge signatures, certify copies, administer oaths, and to note a protest of a negotiable instrument indicating that payment has been refused. In Nevada, the law requires a person to physically appear before a notary public to sign a document. Nevada notaries are not permitted to provide services using online webcams or other visual internet services such as Skype. Your personal appearance before a notary public safeguards against an imposter attempting to sign your name on a document, because the notary must take certain steps to verify your identity. You will have to produce a signed photo ID describing your personal characteristics, which meets the satisfaction of the notary. If one piece of identification does not adequately describe you or present a reasonable likeness, the notary will require you to produce a second form of ID. You will be asked to sign your name in the notary’s journal, and the notary will compare that signature to the signature on the ID you presented. A notary public may refuse to complete the notarization process if identification is suspect. If in doubt about signing a document, give a notary public a call to discuss whether notarization will offer you and your identity added protection.

Spring Cleaning Checklist R eno

Landscaping
T
his winter has been colder than this area has experienced in quite a few years. As we head into warmer temperatures, it will be time to start thinking about waking up your landscapes from their long winter slumber. Here is a checklist for your outdoor spring cleaning: 1.
2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
Turn on the irrigation system. Check for any clogged valves or frozen pipes and make sure the sprinkles are providing even coverage to avoid dry spots. Prune any dead or damaged tree or shrub branches. Cut back flowering perennials and ornamental grasses. Remove fallen leaves and any debris from planter beds. Sweep and clean hardscape surfaces. Aerate your lawn. Aerating will open up the lawn to allow water and nutrients to penetrate the soil more effectively. Apply fertilizer. Mulch your garden. Plan summer landscape projects.
Starting off your landscaping on the right foot in the spring will ensure a beautiful outdoor space you can enjoy all year long. For information regarding Reno Green Landscaping’s Spring Cleaning package, please call 775-852-8952.

rine tracks are being applied to the roads within Sierra Canyon as I write this, but hopefully the long weeks of a cold winter are disappearing. Soon lawns will be coming out of dormancy, trees will be budding and we will be able to soak up the sun with warmer days. Spring projects will begin for Sierra Canyon and that includes landscaping and winter repairs. Sierra Canyon will be completing a number of renovation projects on landscaping this year – everything from small shrub replacement to the addition of new trees. We’ll also be replacing sections of grass with rock and native plants to save the association money. Other projects include curb repair, carpet and window cleaning and general tidying as we prepare for warm, clear weather! Remember to put down pre-emergent herbicides on any decomposed granite and rock areas in your yard to avoid pesky weeds. Aerate your lawn and feed with fertilizer after turning on your water in April. Check your trees and shrubs for winter damage and keep an eye on temperatures as you start up your irrigation so the cold does not crack your irrigation system. I’m very much looking forward to the warmer weather and upcoming seasons filled with fun!
