Winter/Snow Season We kindly ask that you refrain from winter activities on both of our golf courses during the winter season. We do not allow tubing, tobogganing, sledding, saucering, skiing, snowboarding, or any other winter recreation on either golf course. Damage caused by these activities becomes apparent in the spring and playing conditions are greatly sacrificed. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Winter Golf Homework As we move through the colder months, what can avid golfers do to keep that golf flame burning? I use the winter months to better my physical condition with a personal and golf-specific program from the Titleist Performance Institute. Reno has a couple of TPI-certified instructors who can perform an evaluation and prescribe a program for golfers of all ages and abilities. Visit www.mytpi.com for an interesting and beneficial scope of the golf fitness world today, and take a moment to check out the rest of the site as well. I also like to surf the web for cool golf websites that are technical and not trying to sell me something – one of my favorites is Secret in the Dirt at www. secretinthedirt.com. I am also busy reading Every Shot Counts by Mark Broadie, which provides an in-depth view of the most important shots in the game with regard to scoring. Again, if you are an avid golfer, try to do something daily to maintain your level and give yourself a better opportunity to progress in the spring.

FITNESS CLASSES *For a complete description of all our classes, please visit the fitness class page of our website at mysomersett.com.
Personal Training
Personal training is a great way to get personalized routines designed to increase your performance and fitness results. And if you’re new to the gym or coming back after some time off, our personal trainers can help you get back into shape safely with faster results. Please check the sports tab of our website for personal training specials and tips. The Club at Town Center has a great fitness tool to track personal achievements. Fitassess.com is a web-based fitness assessment program that gives personal trainers the tools to conduct a complete physical assessment for their clients. Tests include BMI, blood pressure, body fat analysis, body measurements, cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility and muscular endurance. The program compiles these results for a ranking that is compared to national averages, and it also provides a number for a body’s fitness age. This information is useful for determining a starting point and making it easy to set goals. It’s also a means of tracking your overall improvement, which boosts motivation and keeps you focused on your training. For more information or to set up your physical assessment session, please speak to any of our personal trainers.

SIERRA CANYON
W
elcome Maya Buchanan, our new Events/Administrative Coordinator! She has big shoes to fill after Ronda’s time at Sierra Canyon, but as Maya put it herself, “I can’t be Ronda, but I can be the best Maya I can for the community!” That is exactly what Maya has shown us during her first week of employment, along with high energy and excitement in creating her own flavor of events to Sierra Canyon. As a fourth generation northern Nevadan, Maya is happy to be home again and lives right here in Somersett. After 17 years in Arizona and Colorado she, her husband and two boys (two and four) returned home to Reno closer to family. Maya is excited to live so close to work – during any wild winter months, the commute will be an easy one! Maya’s professional experience includes many years as an event coordinator and fitness director, all while working with older adults. She looks forward to getting to know all of you and is committed to providing quality programing and excellent customer service. Sincerely,
Mike Aguilar EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SIERRA CANYON
