The Masters Golf Tournament traditionally signals the beginning of the golf season, even here in Reno. Our event is similar to the one played at Augusta’s Par3 Course and held on the Wednesday prior to that celebrated tournament. Everyone in the Somersett Community is welcome to participate, and this year’s event will be held once again on the Canyon Nine. Warm up the winter sticks and get your short game going for your chance to win bragging rights and plenty of spending credit at the pro shop. This tournament will have divisions for men, women and juniors. All participants will play for: • Top gross (actual score) and net (with established handicap through the GHIN system) scores. Adults without an established handicap will participate in the Callaway Scoring Division. Junior scoring will be gross only (if participation warrants, we will have age divisions).

If a hole-in-one is made, all deuce pool money will go to those making holes-in-one. • A 2014 Audi from Reno Tahoe Audi. Reno Tahoe Audi has once again stepped up to sponsor our event, and the first golfer to hit a hole-in-one on hole #9 will drive away in a brand new 2014 Audi. CC&R Amendment Vote
Private Street Snow Plowing
Now Due by 5 pm on Monday, April 14 to the onsite office The Board of Directors has voted through unanimous written consent to extend the CC&R Amendment Vote to Monday, April 14. If you have not cast your vote, please do so by April 14.
Private streets maintained by the Association are plowed according to the Board policy of three inches of snow accumulation. For more information on private street plowing, please call 624-9152. During inclement weather, gates may be placed in a hold open status for easy snow plow access. Please note the private streets located in the Village and Vue are maintained by the sub-association managed by Associa Sierra North. Call 626-7333 for plowing questions and concerns in these neighborhoods.
Assessment Reminder Assessments are due on the first of each month and are past due if not paid by 5 pm on the 30th of the month. A late fee of $25 will be posted to accounts not paid by the last business day of the month. Accounts 60 days past due will lose clubhouse and/or Canyon Nine privileges. Accounts 75 days past due will be sent to collections.
Assessment Payments Submitted Online You may or may or may not be aware that you can pay your monthly assessments online from the FirstService Residential website. Please be aware that payments submitted online go through a third party payment processing company named Paylease. Payments submitted through Paylease will, and typically do, take up to 3 business days to be credited to your assessment account. Please keep this information in mind for last minute assessment payments as payments received after the 30th are subject to a $25 late fee. Paylease does charge a fee for their services, and you can pay a larger fee to have the payment posted within one business day. If you would like information on automatic payments that are processed free of charge, please contact the association and request a ‘surepay application’. You may also submit payments to the SOA office, via check or money order only.
Gate Codes Homeowners living behind gates within the community, excluding the Village and Vue, are reminded to change their gate codes annually to limit unwanted traffic. Utility and mail companies have all been assigned vendor codes for gates throughout the community. These vendors include UPS, FedEx, Truckee Meadows, NV Energy and Waste Management. If you have another vendor doing specific work on your property, you may give them your gate code or you may contact the Association to set up a separate gate code.
Public Street Snow Plowing
20
Public streets are maintained by the City of Reno. For more information on the street plowing priority listing or to report street conditions, visit reno.gov or call Reno Direct at 334-4636. Somersett Parkway, Evening Rock Trail, Del Webb Parkway and Somersett Ridge Parkway are all classified as priority one streets.
Sidewalk Snow Plowing Homeowners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalks adjacent to their property. The Association will plow the common area pathways/sidewalks along the three major parkways (Somersett, Del Webb and Somersett Ridge) if there is still snow on the walkways within 48 hours after the end of snow fall.
Compliance Information To report a non-compliance, please email or call Sean Stapleton at sstapleton@mysomersett.com or 787-4500 ext. 322. Please note that while we do investigate and document each complaint received, we cannot disclose the status of anyone’s account. Should a homeowner not respond to or correct a violation, he or she will be summoned to a hearing at which time they could be suspended from the Club and assessed fines. Once fines reach $500, a lien could be placed on the property. At this time the Association has a policy not to enter a property, unless it is bank owned, and then only to repair front yard landscaping.
Roundabout Driving As you approach the roundabout, slow down and yield to pedestrians and bicyclists. For multi-lane roundabouts, choose the appropriate lane to use. Yield to driver’s left. Those in the roundabout have the right-of-way. Travel counter-clockwise through the roundabout. Use your turn signal when exiting. Additionally make sure you are observing posted speed limit signs.
Did You Know... There are several websites that you can visit to search sex offenders in your area. nvsexoffenders.gov/ and familywatchdog.us/ are two sites that you can visit to search by name or zip code to find out who is living in your area.

Financial News: Market Corrections
A
fter the recent market advance, some investors have expressed concern about a possible “market correction” and wonder if it is best to wait before investing. A market correction is a reverse movement, usually downward in the price of an individual stock, bond, commodity or index. While the thought of such a drop can make investors feel uneasy, it’s important to understand that this is the natural ebb and flow of the stock market. Viewing it from a supply/demand perspective, money flows out of one asset class increasing the supply and causing a downward pressure on price. Conversely, money flows into the desired asset class and the rise in demand causes upward pressure on price. In the stock market, money flows out of the companies that exhibit reduced earnings and revenue growth potential and into companies that are expanding theirs. Corrections also occur when asset prices adjust to reflect the new, prevailing economic, geopolitical or interest rate environment – to name a few reasons. Corrections often signal a change in leadership in asset classes, sectors, industries or individual stocks.
If history has taught us anything, it’s virtually impossible to consistently and accurately predict corrections. It’s time and not timing that matters most. Ideally, you want to be invested with managers who can navigate through the volatility and identify the new opportunities early. So, while waiting for a correction sounds prudent, the opportunity cost of missing the early shift into the new leadership may be the most costly mistake of all.
