General Game Design Application To whom it may concern: I am a graduate from the Carleton University and Algonquin College Bachelor of Technology: Interactive Multimedia and Design programme, which has a heavy focus on video game design. I officially graduated in early June and will be moving to Montreal in August. As such, I will be seeking full-time employment in the games industry. My broad range of technical education has provided me with a diverse skill set that would be essential to a game designer. My courses have given me a working knowledge of a broad assortment of proficiencies, including computer languages such as C, C++, C#, HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, Actionscript, MEL Script, and Python , design and development tools including the Unity game engine, much of the Adobe Design Suite, productivity suites such as Microsoft Office, and various other programs. I also have an in-depth comprehension of concepts such as interface usability and systems management. While my formal experience with game development in a professional environment is relatively small, I have managed several projects in this field both in and out of school, and as such, am familiar with the game and project development process. My previous employment with QNX Software Systems and The Ottawa Hospital gave me professional experience in user-centred design in a global market. In addition to my school and work experience, I am skilled in graphic and UX design, as well as project management and documentation. Furthermore, I possess a working knowledge of 3D graphics and animation, usability testing, and cinematography. I am also fluently bilingual in French and English. I have a keen interest in video game design and my personal goal is to eventually become a professional game designer. I deeply admire the amazing works that have been produced from Montreal’s studios, and I feel that there is much that I could learn from working with such a talented and skilled group of people.
