Common Steps These steps are used for every scene: 1. Upon acquisition of the file, verify that lighting, materials, cameras, and scene construction are all completed. If there are any issues, correct them immediately 2. Perform a test render to see which settings require adjustment. 3. Set rendering to mental ray 4. Set the Common tab as follows a. Color Management i. Check Enable Color Management ii. Set Default Input Profile as sRGB iii. Set Default Output Profile to Linear sRGB b. File Output i. Set “File Name Prefix” to the name of the scene and shot (ex. Scene 2 shot 3 would be called “Scene0203”) ii. Set “Image Format” to TIFF iii. Set “Frame/Animation Ext” to “name_#.ext” iv. Set Frame Padding to 4 c. Frame Range i. Set Start and End Frames by the start and end keyframes of the current camera (each shot has a unique camera with its start and end frames defined through keyframes. These values are thus determined by selecting the camera in question and analysing the time slider) ii. If the shot in question does not begin at 1, check “Renumber Frames” and set “Start Number” to 1.000 d. Renderable Cameras i. Set “Renderable Camera” to the designated shot camera (these are labelled with the convention “Cam#**”, with # denoting the scene number and ** denoting the shot number; these match with the numbering system used in the storyboard and throughout the project) ii. Check “Alpha Channel (Mask)” and uncheck “Depth Channel (Z Depth)” iii. Remove any other cameras listed e. Image Size i. Set “Presets” to “HD 720” ii. Set Maintain Ratio to Pixel Aspect iii. Ensure that remainder of presets for HD720 remain consistent (Width: 1280, Height: 720, Size Units: pixels, Resolution: 72.0, Resolution Units: pixels/inch, Device Aspect Ratio: 1.778, Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0) 5. Verify that the Passes tab remains blank For subsequent options, some options vary by scene (categorised by environment). Those settings are as follows.
