10K Trincea

The Workshop tried to requalify Porto Margher a, one of the main industrial, chemical and oil zone in Italy. The Area is situated in Venice’s lagoon. Sebastian Irarrazaval believe that for big changes is essential to approach the problem w ith big ideas. As a consequence the workshop propo ses 10 solutions, but with the same length : 10 km. We took our inspiration to the trincea; this kind of construction is modular and can be exten ded at infinitum. Additionally we decided to inglo be all the main existing hubs in Porto Marghera. The lines are imposed on the territory aggressively. Each segment of the trench is composed of d-iffe rent types of Hungar, with different shapes and functions. Creating a building of 10 km coud resolts in-naru tal, so we designed different curves and hight, in the way that the buinding coud be mi xed with the ground, becoming a series of artific ial hills, cannals and montains. 10K Trincea Taken as a whole, the costruction presents itself as a network of huge links, the greater part of which are raised above the ground. On the ground, a second network, traffic. The ‘links’ are areas generally devoid of building, though with the exception of centers of pro-duction and the installations that have no place in the sector social space, like, for in-stance, transmitter antennae, and perhaps drilling rigs, historic monuments. Part of these vacant areas is given over to dif-ferent working of the ground itself and to rearing livestock;
