2: Askari GSM Guard Programming:

ASKARI GSM PROGRAMMING

A. Programming Askari Scout / SPY detectors 1. Remove the battery cover from the Askari Scout you wish to program (or set the Nano into clone mode) 2. Press and hold the CHARGE button, press and release the PROGRAM switch on the Askari GSM module – release the CHARGE button 3. All programmed zone LED’s will light up ( none will light up if nothing is programmed in ) 4. Wait for the Program Guards LED’s to go off, all programmed zone LED’s will switch off – you are now in programming mode 5. Press and release the required zone button – the zone LED will light up 6. Trigger the tamper switch on the Askari Scout (or trigger the required zone on the Nano) 7. Askari GSM module will accept the programming, return to standby mode, and all programmed zone LED’s will be on. 8. Repeat as above for all other zones

B. Deleting zones 1. Press and hold the CHARGE button, press and release the ERASE switch on the Askari GSM module – release the CHARGE button 2. All the programmed zone LED’s will light up 3. Wait for the programmed zone LED’s to go off. 4. Press and release the required Guard’s button that you want to delete

SIM preparation: This method requires a cheap old phone. Place the new SIM card in the phone and switch it ON. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Go to messaging. Delete all messages (inbox ,outbox, draft etc) Go to Phone Book. Delete ALL contacts

SMS’s: 1. 2.

Send the table of messages below to the phone. Inspect that they are correct before moving to the next message. THEY HAVE TO BE ENTERED IN THIS ORDER. All 15 SMS’s must be sent and in this order.

The Contacts cell number must be in international format. (+27) Phone number “FIVE” is for the armed response company if you put it in. This number cannot Arm or Disarm the system. It will just get notifications. You must enter 5 contact numbers the Names. ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE

Test the Askari GSM Module:

1. Send a “Disarm” SMS to the module from one of the saved Cell numbers. 2. The Askari GSM module must reply with “ Diasarmed”

Askari GSM Operating “Missed Call”: The Askari GSM Unit can be Armed and Disarmed by calling its number. The unit will disconnect the call and reply with a SMS of its State. Armed or Disarmed This is the preferred method of operation as calls are direct, SMS’s can be delayed. Askari GSM Operating “SMS’s”:

Askari GSM Operating “SMS’s”: 1) Arming the Askari GSM Module: SMS Arm to the unit. (3 letters only and no spaces before or after) The unit will reply with Armed This will Arm all switched on guards. If the guard is triggered it will SMS you that it has been triggered. This guard will not send another SMS for 2 minutes. If after 2 minutes has expired and it is triggered again, it will send another SMS. 2) Disarming the Askari GSM Module: SMS Disarm to the unit. Send the unit S1 Switch ON Guard 1 C1 Switch OFF Guard 1

The unit will reply with Status In each case. Not used but entered as 0 Not used but entered as 0

Start the Askari GSM Module: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Switch off the phone and remove the SIM card. Place SIM card in GSM module. Connect the + ve battery terminal and plug the transformer in. Wait for the GSM module to signal it is on the network. (top LED on with a very small off period) Wait for SIM OK LED to come on Second LED down
