Indiana is considered the home of auto racing, having given the birth of the Indianapolis 500. So many young Indiana children always say while watching the 500 race, “that will be me someday.” Here is one of those kids who made that same statement. At age three, Jonathan’s racing desire began when his parents purchased his first racing go-kart. At age six, he was already competing at dirt tracks in the area, mostly regional go-kart competitions, winning his first race at age seven, at the Winslow Indiana GoKart Complex. In the youthful career he has had so far, he has managed to achieve a long list of accomplishments. Jonathan first sat behind the wheel of a eight hundred horsepower sprint car at age thirteen. After a two-year learning curve, he immediately began showing much promise for the future. One highlight of his youth was during his fourth trip to victory circle. As a child, Jonathan watched races at Tri-State Speedway in southern Indiana. During his second visit, he won the main event, after setting quick time, and winning the trophy dash. When he took the checkers the track champions from the two previous seasons were in tow. In 2003, Jonathan finished ninth among a field of two hundred and fifty competitors at the Eldora Speedway’s Mopar Million. Jonathan came close to two Payless Supermarkets Little 500 victories, finishing in the runner-up position twice in the prestigious event. Jonathan has amassed a total of seventeen feature victories at several of the same Indiana and Illinois tracks that TCR will be competing upon. Jonathan is the kind of racer who always will be looking for something new and exciting to bring more fun to the sport, along with more interest from the fans. Believing that fans don’t just come out to see the cars’ high speeds and sometime scary crashes, Jonathan has a strong drive to bring more showmanship into the sport. Hopefully this showmanship will not only make the show better for the existing fan base the high powered open wheel machines attract, but will create a base for new fans to follow. He understands that nothing will make him and his supporters succeed in this sport more than fan base.
