ISLAM: Fact or Fiction with Mehri Niknam MBE

ISRAEL vs IRAN with Jonathan Paris

£20 per session £64 for 4 week course

£20, £16 Online early bird

In a wide-ranging and comprehensive introduction to Islam, we will examine and discuss the birth of Islam, the life of its Prophet, Mohammad, and its holy book the Qur’an. Mehri Niknam, an Iranianborn Jew, has been a senior consultant in Jewish-Muslim relations for over 25 years. Her academic field is “Comparative Judaism and Islam in the Middle Ages”.

Israel’s most serious regional challenge emanates from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Israel faces Iran and its proxies on nearly all of its borders. How close is Iran to a nuclear weapon and is the US or Israel more likely to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities? Is Iran having a bomb worse than going to war with Iran? 2020 promises to be a pivotal year in this escalating conflict with key players in political transition. Tuesdays 14, 21, 28 January & 4 February, 7.30 - 9pm

BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF A SUNDAY TIMES WAR CORRESPONDENT: A Personal account with Uzi Mahnaimi £20 per session £64 for 4 week course Most people read and watch the reports of war correspondents from around the world. But very little is known about what’s going on behind-the-scenes of this highly dangerous work. This course will delve deep into Uzi’s 19 years’ experience as a war correspondent for the Sunday Times. He will discuss the daily struggle with untrusted - sometimes dangerous - stringers, the pressure from state run intelligence services to produce what is called today “fake news”, and the love-hate relationship between the war correspondent and the Foreign Desk editors far away in London.
