Develop your own artistic projects under the experienced guidance of artist Michael Ajerman. The course will give technical and personal guidance and include artistic discourse. Suitable for all levels of experience from absolute beginners to those looking for external mentorship.
This course in essential drawing skills led by Jacqueline Nicholls, is for all those who say that they can’t draw, but would love to learn. We’ll experiment with mark-making, explore different drawing materials and gain confidence to express thoughts and observations through drawing.

Learn Talmud Like An Artist Wednesday 13 September, 7.30-9.30pm £20 What does an artist notice that a yeshiva student misses? Daf Yomi is the study of a page of Talmud a day, it is now popular across the Jewish world. Join artist Jacqueline Nicholls to explore different perspectives on the Talmud text. Israeli artist Noga Shatz teaches you to paint flowers using both watercolours and acrylics. You will learn how to read and use colour to give detail and depth and leave the course comfortable to develop your skills at home.

Making A Golem Wednesday 18 October, 7.30-9.30pm £20 Using clay, Jacqueline Nicholls will lead a study of Golem texts and create our own defenders against personal terrors. The Golem of Prague began as a Jewish version of a gothic fairytale combining Dr Frankenstein’s wish to create life with the desire for a superhero protector.
Figurative Sculpture Wednesdays 1 November - 13 December 7.30-9.30pm £25 per session, £154 for the course Learn the basics of figurative sculpture in clay, working from a live model. This seven week course led by Benedict Romain will introduce professional techniques including how to observe the model, measure proportions and construct a sculpture of the full figure. 5

Hebrew Total Beginners Special Offer* If you are not familiar with the block or script Hebrew alphabet, we recommend starting here in order to be able to read without vowels as well as to write and build up basic conversation. *See page 18 for details. Not Quite Beginners For those who have started to read the Hebrew alphabet both in block and script and have a vocabulary of about 100 words. Beginners I For those who can read comfortably, form simple sentences, have knowledge of basic verbs in the present tense, infinitives and a vocabulary of 300-400 words. Beginners II A class for those who converse in Hebrew on basic topics comfortably using the present tense and infinitives. Learn the past tense and to use 700 to 800 words confidently. Beginners III Become confident handling the past tense, discussing newspaper headlines and listening to Hebrew recordings. Intermediate I Finishing the past tense and starting the future tense. Intermediate II The future tense continues to be taught using newspapers and special TV programmes, there will be more developed conversations.
Intermediate III This course consolidates previous learning of tenses and introduces the passive tense. Using video and listening clips. Advanced I We will use a variety of media and elaborate on texts from newspapers to take your Hebrew to the next level. Advanced III For those who know present, past and future tenses and read more advanced newspaper articles. Very Advanced Conversation Students will watch news from Israel and converse on leading topics of the day as well as other relevant topics.
French Intermediate I Improve speaking skills and vocabulary through reading and discussing articles in French. Intermediate II For people who are able to speak present, past, conditional and subjunctive tenses but still need to strengthen their grammar and vocabulary. Advanced Conversation For confident French speakers. The group will discuss historical and topical items of interest.

Krav Maga is widely recognised as the world’s most effective form of self-defence. Originating in Israel, it was created in the belief that we all have the right to walk in peace. Our courses will give participants the skills and experience to do just that. It is fun, quick to learn and easy to retain. It is particularly useful in practical situations, and will keep you fit. London Krav Maga was established in 1996 and is affiliated to the official Krav Maga Global (KMG) based in Netanya, Israel. The Six Point Foundation legacy grant survivor enrichment programme can, at JW3’s discretion, provide an 80% reduction for entrance to a wide range of events at JW3 for those holocaust survivors and refugees who would like to attend but have financial needs. The Six Point Foundation legacy grant can also assist with transport costs, carers and other relevant accessibility costs for those unable to meet these costs themselves.
