Paleontology: Dinosaur eggs (the children will make a dough and put a small plastic dinosaur inside and be told to let it dry for a couple of days before digging their dinosaur)

15 May

KS1: Years 1 and 2

Engineering and Architecture: children will build and take home 2D and 3D shapes with marshmallows, toothpicks, straws and play dough (kosher sweets will be provided for Jewish children)

22 May

KS1: Years 1 and 2

Physics: children will build a balloon powered car to take home, by using some everyday materials and learning more about forces, friction and speed

5 June

KS1: Years 1 and 2

Physics: children will build their own catapults using different materials and by the end of the class they will launch some ping pong balls and other balls using the different models of catapults. The purpose is to understand more about how forces and angles affect the speed and distance of their projectiles

12 June

KS1: Years 1 and 2

Biology: children will grow potato grass heads to take home and learn more about what do plants need to grow

KS1: Years 1 and 2

Biology: Growing germs in Petri dishes (Children will take the Petri dishes home, sealed with tape and inside a transparent plastic bag to see the germs growing and will be told not to open the Petri dish and to dispose it in the bin after a couple of days)

3 July

KS1: Years 1 and 2

Physics and Chemistry: children will do several experiments with water and we will talk about water pressure, air pressure and forces

KS1: Years 1 and 2
