Liebe Gäste! „Entweder … oder“ haben wir aus unserem Wortschatz gestrichen. Wir sagen viel lieber „sowohl ... als auch“. In Innsbruck genießen Sie sowohl Bergluft als auch Stadtleben – und das alles am selben Tag. Zum Beispiel während Musikevents auf 2.000 Metern Seehöhe, auf unseren Mountainbike-Trails sowie bei zahlreichen hochkarätigen Veranstaltungen und Ausstellungen. In dieser Ausgabe stellen wir unser Sommerprogramm vor. Darin finden sich Musikfestivals von Klassik über Jazz bis zu Elektronik. Ein besonderes sportliches Highlight ist Crankworx, das spektakuläre Mountainbike-Festival im Bikepark Innsbruck. Dafür reisen im Juni die besten Fahrer aus aller Welt an. Wer selbst aktiv werden möchte, ist auf den Routen und Touren rund um Innsbruck genau richtig. Sportmuffeln empfehlen wir unsere Bergbahnen, die sie in 20 Minuten vom Stadtzentrum etwa auf die Nordkette bringen. Mit der Welcome Card sind einige Aufstiegshilfen rund um Innsbruck sogar kostenlos. So genießen Sie sowohl alpine Natur, als auch die Erlebnisvielfalt der Stadt. Viel Spaß dabei!

For instance, during music events at 2,000 metres above sea level, on our mountain bike trails as well as numerous top-class events and exhibitions. In this edition we are presenting our summer programme. Included are music festivals featuring classical music as well as jazz and electronic music. A special sports highlight is Crankworx, the spectacular mountain bike festival at Bikepark Innsbruck. The best riders from all over the world will be arriving in June to compete. Anyone who would like to be active themselves will strike gold on the routes and tours around Innsbruck. For non-athletic individuals we recommend our mountain cable cars, which will bring you from the city centre up to the Nordkette mountain range in about 20 minutes. Some lift facilities around Innsbruck are even free of charge with the Welcome Card. So you can enjoy natural alpine surroundings as well as a variety of experiences in the city. Have fun! Alpenzoo Innsbruck Tirol Am Fuß der Nordkette, hoch über den Dächern der Landeshauptstadt von Tirol, erstreckt sich der Alpenzoo Innsbruck (750 m) mit seinen rund 2.000 Tieren aus 150 Arten. Als sogenannter „Themenzoo“ bietet er in naturnahe gestalteten Gehegen, Terrarien und dem Kaltwasser-Aquarium mit rund 50 alpinen Fischarten die weltweit größte Sammlung von Tieren aus dem Alpenraum. Dazu zählen auch Elch und Wisent, die noch nach der letzten Eiszeit in Tirol beheimatet waren. Die Publikumslieblinge Bär, Wolf und Luchs fehlen genauso wenig wie Steinbock, Gams und Bartgeier. Am Schaubauernhof werden gefährdete Haustierrassen gezeigt und der „Bären-Kinderspielplatz“ rundet für unsere kleinen Tierfreunde den gelungenen AlpenzooBesuch ab!

As a so-called “theme zoo”, it offers the world’s largest collection of animals from the Alpine region in near-natural arranged enclosures, terrariums and the cold water aquarium with about 50 species of alpine fish. The collection of animals also includes elk and bison, which were still indigenous in Tyrol after the last Ice Age. Among the public favourites to be seen are the bear, wolf and lynx as well as ibex, chamois and bearded vulture. Endangered breeds of domestic animals are exhibited at the show farm and the “Bear children’s playground” rounds off the successful Alpine Zoo visit for our little animal lovers!

Von Indoor- bis Outdoorveranstaltungen – die Stadt Innsbruck bietet Festival- und Kulturliebhabern ein Programm, das keine Wünsche mehr offen lässt. From indoor to outdoor events – the city of Innsbruck offers festival and cultural enthusiasts a programme that leaves nothing to be desired.

Ganz nach diesem Motto verwandelt sich die Bergstadt in den warmen Monaten in ein wahres Mekka für Musik- und Kulturinteressierte. Ob Festivals, Konzerte oder diverse Freiluftveranstaltungen – im Sommer fallen einem Innsbrucks Feste sogar direkt vor die Füße.

nnsbruck gilt als vielseitige und abwechslungsreiche Stadt und präsentiert sich Einwohnern und Gästen gegenüber rund ums Jahr in ihren verschiedensten Facetten. Gerade jetzt schlüpft sie in den bunten Mantel der Kreativität und Melodien, denn es beginnt die Festivalsaison und man kann mit ruhigem Gewissen behaupten, dass wirklich für jeden Musik- und Kulturgeschmack garantiert etwas dabei ist. Für die besondere Sommerstimmung sorgt die Tatsache, dass die meisten der zahlreichen Events im Freien stattfinden. New Orleans Festival

Funk, Rhythm‘n‘Blues, Soul, Gospel, Blues, Dixie – jedes Jahr im Juli wird der Inn zum Mississippi – und Innsbruck atmet das Lebensgefühl der südlichen USA. Zum bereits 19. Mal wird vom 20.–23.7. das New Orleans Festival alle Freunde zum Bluesen bringen. Am Landhausplatz und weiteren verschiedensten Locations wartet ein ambitioniertes Programm mit viel einheimischer Beteiligung auf die Besucher. Die Live-Konzerte lassen Innsbruck und die Partnerstadt New Orleans eins werden und Innsbruck im Rhythmus des Jazz pulsieren. Auch Stars der New-Orleans-Szene werden mit Leidenschaft und Lebensgefühl die Nacht in ihrem Groove vibrieren lassen. So werden Innsbruck und die Partnerstadt New Orleans einmal im Jahr eins. Tiroler Festspiele

Die berühmten Festspiele finden jedes Jahr in Erl in Tirol statt und begeistern ganze vier Wochen lang Besucher aus aller Welt. Das Programm der Tiroler Festspiele Erl umfasst in der Sommersaison etwa 30 Veranstaltungen von Opern über Konzerte bis hin zu Kammermusikabenden, die jährlich von über 20.000 Zuschauern besucht werden. Bespielt werden seit Sommer 2014 beide Häuser im neuen Festspielbezirk Erl: Festspiel- und Passionsspielhaus. In der alljährlich vom 26. Dezember bis 6. Januar dauernden Wintersaison bietet das Programm im Festspielhaus rund 14 Veranstaltungen mit Opern und Konzerten im Hauptprogramm und Liederabenden sowie Kammermu-

Instrumenten damaliger Bauweisen und mit den Erkenntnissen aus der in Traktaten überlieferten historischen Aufführungspraxis zu gestalten. Seit sieben Jahren findet im Rahmen des Festivals außerdem jedes Jahr der „Internationale Gesangswettbewerb für Barockoper Pietro Antonio Cesti“ statt, zu dem junge Sänger und Sängerinnen aus aller Welt nach Innsbruck kommen. Auch diesen Sommer (18.7.–27.8.) begeistert das vielseitige Programm wieder auf Schloss Ambras, im Landestheater, der Hofburg und vielen weiteren stilvollen und etablierten Locations. Promenadenkonzerte

Die 23. Innsbrucker Promenadenkonzerte zeigen vom 3.–30. Juli im Innenhof der Kaiserlichen Hofburg einmal mehr die Vielfalt der Bläsermusik auf höchstem Niveau. Bei freiem Eintritt (freiwillige Spenden sind erwünscht) verstehen die Innsbrucker Promenadenkonzerte sich als niedrigschwellige Brücke hin zur klassischen Musik. Mit ihren 350 verschiedenen Werken der Klassik, der altösterreichischen Unterhaltungsmusik, der klassischen Moderne, des Jazz und der zeitgenössischen Musik liefern sie mit ihren ca. 60.000 Besuchern den Beweis, dass hohes Niveau und Publikumszuspruch sich nicht ausschließen. Mit in diesen Programmen enthalten sind nicht nur mehrere Instrumentalkonzerte, sondern auch der Auftritt eines Kirchenchores sowie renommierter Gesangssolisten. Mehr dazu: www.promenadenkonzerte.at

Wetterleuchten auf der Nordkette

Zwei Tage lang, vom 15.–16. Juli, erklingen in den Bergen Innsbrucks, genauer gesagt auf der Seegrube, die feinsten elektronischen Klänge. Das Konzept des Festivals setzt sich wie folgt zusammen: Jeder schnappt sich seine Freunde, um in der einzigartigen Umgebung von Innsbrucks fantastischer Bergwelt DJs zu lauschen, zu campieren und zu feieren. Am Lagerfeuer kann gechillt und auf 2.000 Metern Höhe die Aussicht genossen werden. Es treffen sich dort junge und junggebliebene Personen, die Spaß an elektronischer Musik haben, die Natur lieben und einen traumhaften Platz genießen wollen. Tanzsommer

Zum letzten Mal bietet sich heuer die Gelegenheit, die Auftritte bekannter Tanzkompanien in Innsbruck zu bestaunen und die verschiedenen Tanzstile zu mitreißender Musik zu genießen. Besucher können sich zwischen 20. und 25. Juni auf die weltberühmten Müllwerker von STOMP auf der TANZSOMMER-Bühne freuen. Sie kehren, schnipsen, trommeln, wirbeln über die Bühne und faszinieren das Publikum mit ihrer unbändigen Energie. Am 30. Juni und 01. Juli wird bei BEETHOVEN! THE NEXT LEVEL das Wirken und Leben des musikalischen Genies erzählt. Zum Abschluss des TANZSOMMERs 2017 zeigt am 04. Festwochen der Alten Musik

Von Anfang an widmeten sich die Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik der Pflege der Renaissance- und Barockmusik, manchmal auch der Wiener Klassik. Im Zentrum stehen Barockopern, darüber hinaus gibt es Konzerte an historischen Stätten mit Musik vom Mittelalter bis ins frühe 19. Jahrhundert. Priorität des Festivals ist der Originalklang, was bedeutet, die Aufführung der Musik in einer entsprechenden Klanggebung auf

Klassik am Berg

Nicht nur elektronische Musik darf man auf vielen Höhenmetern genießen, auch klassiche Klänge werden in den Bergen geboten. Am 30. Juni wagt sich das Tiroler Kammerorchester InnStrumenti in bisher unerreichte Höhen. Das bunte Programm fesselt die Zuhörer durch eine facettenreiche Palette an unterschiedlichen kurzen Stücken und Einzelsätzen aus Meisterwerken der Klassik, bereichert mit einzelnen hervorragenden, aber weniger bekannten Stücken. Zu hören sind Highlights der klassischen Musik, wie Ausschnitte der Kleinen Nachtmusik und des Klarinettenkonzerts von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, aber auch Werke, die in besonderer Weise mit der Lage des Konzerts am Berg in Verbindung stehen und einen Tirolbezug herstellen: So erklingen auch Teile der Soirée Tyrolienne von Werner Pirchner und der Walzer aus den Bergen von Johann Strauss. Am 1. Juli steht Innsbruck wieder ganz im Zeichen der originellen Mischung aus Musik, Kunst und Performance, für welche das Bonanza Festival steht. Die Macher wollen ihr Publikum mithilfe renommierter und motivierter DJs auf Wiesen und Wäldern in eine Welt fernab des Alltags katapultieren. nnsbruck is regarded as a multifaceted and varied city, and is presented to residents and guests in its most varying facets all year long. Particularly now it slips into a colourful cloak of creativity and melodies, because the festival season is starting and you with a clear conscience you can claim that there is guaranteed to be something for any taste in terms of music and culture. The range of various feasts for the ears and eyes includes classical, jazz and electronic music as well as dance. The fact that most of the numerous events take place outdoors ensures a special summer atmosphere. So under the gentle kiss of a pleasant evening breeze visitors can dance, laugh, drink, talk and celebrate the summer!

New Orleans Festival

Funk, rhythm & blues, soul, gospel, blues and Dixieland – every year in July the Inn River becomes the Mississippi River, and Innsbruck breathes the attitude towards life in the southern part of the USA. From 20-23 July, the New Orleans Festival will bring all friends of blues and other music genres to Innsbruck for the 19th time. An ambitious programme with lots of local involvement is waiting for visitors at Landhausplatz square and various other locations. Live concerts allow Innsbruck and its partner city New Orleans to become one, and Innsbruck pulsates in the rhythm of jazz. Stars from the New Orleans scene also vibrate the night in their groove with their passion and attitude towards life. So once a year Innsbruck and its partner city New Orleans become one! Tyrolean Festival

The famous festival is held every year in the town of Erl in Tyrol and delights visitors from all over the world for four weeks. In the summer season, the programme of the Tyrolean Festival Erl encompasses about 30 events featuring operas, concerts as well as chamber music evenings, which are attended by over 20,000 spectators every year. Since the summer of 2014, events are held in both establishments – the Festival Hall and the Passion Play Hall – of the new Erl festival region. In the winter season – which runs annually from 26 December to 6 January – the programme in the Passion Play Hall features about 14 events ranging from operas and concerts in the main programme and evening of songs, as well as chamber music in the series of special events. Among other things, the highlights this summer include Rossini’s “Semiramide” or “Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung”. Several internationally established orchestras are once again also featured. Tanzsommer (Summer Dance Festival)

For the last time this year there is an opportunity to marvel at performances by well-known dance companies in Innsbruck and to enjoy various dance styles while listening to thrilling music. Between 20 and 25 June, visitor can look forward to the world-famous ‘waste collectors’ from STOMP auf der TANZSOMMER stage. They sweep, clip fingers, play drums and whirl around the stage, and fascinate the audience with their irrepressible energy. On 30 June and 1 July, the life and work of a musical genius is recounted during the dance show “BEETHOVEN! THE NEXT LEVEL”. To conclude the TANZSOMMER 2017 dance festival, the Austrian company HUNGRY SHARKS will demonstrate human encounters and social changes with the help of urban dance styles. Festival of Early Music

From the beginning on the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music has dedicated its efforts to fostering Renaissance and Baroque music, sometimes also the First Viennese School. The focus is on Baroque operas. In addition, there are concerts at historic sites with music from the medieval period into the early 19th century. The festival’s priority is the original sound, which means arranging the performance of music in an appropriate sonority on instruments featuring construction methods at that time and with the insights of historical performance practice handed down in tracts. The “International Singing competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti” has also

been held every year for seven years within the framework of the festival. Young singers from all over the world come to Innsbruck for this competition. This summer (18 Jly-27 August), the versatile programme will also delight the audience once again at Ambras Castle as well as the State Theatre, Imperial Palace and many other stylish and established locations. Promenade Concerts

The 23rd rendition of the Innsbruck Promenade Concerts held from 3-30 July in the inner courtyard of the Imperial Palace will once again demonstrate the variety of wind section music at the highest level. With free admission (voluntary donations are welcome), the Innsbruck Promenade Concerts are understood to be a low-threshold bridge to classical music. With 350 different works featuring classical music, old Austrian popular music, classical modernism, jazz and contemporary music, the series of concerts with approx. 60,000 visitors provides proof that a high level of excellence and pu-

blic appeal are not mutually exclusive. Included in these programmes are not only several instrumental concerts, but also the performance by a church choir as well as renowned vocal soloists. More information is available at: www.promenadenkonzerte.at

Wetterleuchten (Heat Lightning) on the Nordkette

For two whole days (15-16 July), the finest electronic sounds will resound in the mountains around Innsbruck, or more precisely at the Seegrube area. The concept of the electronic musical festival is compiled as follows: everyone grabs their friends in order to listen to DJs, camp and celebrate the unique environment of Innsbruckâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s fantastic mountain world. People can chill out around a campfire and enjoy the view at 2,000 metres above sea level. Young people and those who are still young at heart meet there to have fun listening to electronic music, appreciate the natural surroundings and enjoy a fabulous place. Classical music on the mountain

You can not only enjoy electronic music at high altitude. Classical sounds are also offered in the mountains. On 30 June the Tyrolean Chamber Orchestra InnStrumenti will venture into previously unrivalled heights. The colourful programme will captivate listeners through a multifaceted range of varying short pieces and individual sets from masterpieces of classical music, enriched with individual outstanding, but less well-known pieces. Highlights of classical music as well as excerpts from “A Little Serenade” and clarinet concerts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but also works which are associated in a special way with the location of the concert on the mountain and create a Tyrolean reference can be heard. For instance, parts of Soirée Tyrolienne by Werner Pirchner and the “Waltz from the Mountains” by Johann Strauss will also be featured. As a result, something is offered under an open sky for classical music lovers as well as aficionados and newcomers to classical music – and admission is also free! Bonanza Festival

On 1 July, Innsbruck will once again be entirely characterised by the original mixture of music, art and performance for which the Bonanza Festival stands. The movers & shakers want to catapult their audience into a world featuring meadows and forests far away from everyday life with the help of renowned and motivated DJs. Different people shall converge and experience something special together, feel comfortable and be themselves. Innsbrucker Ritterspiele Medieval plays

ab/from 9. Juni Auch dieses Jahr kehrt ein großes Stück Tiroler Kulturgutes wieder ins Gasthaus Bierstindl und somit nach Innsbruck zurück. Seit 1951 zeigt die traditionsbewusste Volksschauspielbühne den Schurkischen Kuno, ein „schröcklich“ blutiges Ritterstück in drei Bildern mit neun Mitwirkenden und zehn Toten. Der Kuno hat längst schon Kultstatus erreicht. Da wird gereimt, was das Zeug hält. Mal auf Hochdeutsch, dann klappern wieder ein paar Tiroler Verse über die Bühne, dass es nur so eine Freude ist. Und wenn sich der getreue Knappe in eine feurige Spanierin verwandeln muss, um das Burgfräulein zu retten, bleibt im Zuschauerraum kein Auge trocken. Jedes Jahr erweitert das Ensemble seine Texte zu aktuellen Themen, so wird es bei den Aufführungen der Boulevardstücke ganz bestimmt nie langweilig. A special feature of Tyrolean cultural heritage is returning to Gasthaus Bierstindl and Innsbruck. Since 1951 the tradition-conscious folk theatre has been presenting the “Roguish Kuno”, a “terrifying” bloody medieval play in three scenes with nine performers and ten

dead people. Kuno has long since attained cult status. The play features a plethora of rhymes. At times the rhymes are in High German, and then a few verses in Tyrolean dialect rattle across the stage in such a way that it is a pure pleasure for the audience. And when the faithful squire has to metamorphose into a fiery Spanish girl in order to save the damsel, there is not a dry eye remaining in the house. Every year the ensemble expands its texts to include current topics, so it is certainly never boring during the performances of the light comedies.

2.7.–27.8.2017 An jedem Sommersonntag im Juli und August präsentiert sich die mächtige Nordkette stilvoll und entspannt. Mit Blick über Innsbruck kann man im Restaurant der Seegrube Live-Jazz genießen. Doch damit nicht genug: Nicht nur die Gehörgänge werden verwöhnt, auch die Geschmacksnerven kommen nicht zu kurz: Tiroler Speck und Käsekreationen, feine Aufstriche und frische Früchte werden kredenzt. Kaffee, Tee, Orangensaft und ein Glas Prosecco sind auch inklusive. Außerdem köstliche Eierspeisen, gerne auch mit Speck oder eine Auswahl an verlockenden Mehlspeisen sowie verschiedene Gröstlkreationen und herzhafte Würstel kann man sich von 11 bis 13 Uhr im Takt von Bass, Gitarre, Klavier, Schlagzeug u. v. m. zu Gemüte führen. Es lohnt sich, nicht zu spät zu kommen. Denn vor 12:00 Uhr ist die Auffahrt ermäßigt. Auf die Seegrube kommen Sie mit den Nordkettenbahnen. Ihr Auto können Sie den ganzen Tag über gratis in der Citygarage oder Congressgarage parken: von 8:00 bis 18:00 Uhr. Von dort aus starten Sie bequem zum alpinen Bruncherlebnis.

On every summer Sunday in July and August the mighty Nordkette mountain range is presented in a stylish and relaxed manner. Guests in the restaurant at Seegrube can enjoy live jazz with a view over Innsbruck. But that’s not all! Not only the auditory canals are pampered, the taste buds are also not short-changed: Tyrolean dry-cured ham, cheese creations, fine spreads and fresh fruit are served. Coffee, tea, orange juice and a glass of prosecco are also included. In addition, delicious egg dishes served with drycured ham if desired, or a selection of tempting flour-based dishes as well as various “Gröstl” (fried potato slices & meat) creations and hearty sausages can be relished from 11 to 1 pm while enjoying the music featuring bass, guitar, piano, drums and other instruments. It is worthwhile not to arrive too late, because the ascent is discounted before 12 noon. You can reach the Seegrube area with the Nordkettenbahn lifts. You can park your car free of charge the whole day (8 am to 6 pm) in the City Garage or the Congress Garage parking areas. You can conveniently start your alpine brunch experience from there.

Haute Route Dolomites

2.– 8.9.2017 Haute Route ist ein Rennen für ambitionierte Amateure. Organisation, Streckenführung und Atmosphäre entsprechen jener eines Profi-Bewerbs. Insgesamt werden zu diesem Radsportevent hunderte Teilnehmer aus über 50 Nationen erwartet. Schauplätze dieser globalen Mehrtages-Etappen-Rennserie sind u. a. Alpe d’Huez, die Pyrenäen, die Rocky Mountains und die Dolomiten. Innsbruck spielt dabei gleich zum Auftakt die Hauptrolle: Der Auftakt des Rennens am 2. September 2017 erfolgt in und um die Tiroler Landeshauptstadt. Die Strecke hat es in sich: 113 Kilometer und 2.900 Höhenmeter liegen zwischen dem Start und Ziel in Innsbruck. Die zweite Etappe mit Start am 3. September vor der Innsbrucker Hofburg führt von Innsbruck über das Timmelsjoch und den Jaufenpass nach Valle Isarco, Endpunkt des siebentägigen Rennens ist die Lagunenstadt Venedig.

Im August 2017 verwandelt sich der historische Ortskern Mittenwalds in ein Handelsstädtchen des 15. Jahrhunderts. Von 5. bis 13.8.17 laden die Mittenwalder zur Zeitreise ins Spätmittelalter und die frühe Renaissance. Als historisch gekleidete Kaufleute, Handwerker, Wirte, Gaukler und Musiker lassen sie den Geigenbauort in Bayerns Bergen als blühendes Handelsstädtchen aus dem 15. bis 17. Jh. hochleben. Handwerker wie Silber- und Hufschmied, Holzschindelmacher, Korbflechter oder Geigenbauer zeigen ihre Arbeit. Auch Brunnenbauer, Sattler oder Töpfer trifft man. Dazu bieten Künstler, Magier Feuerspucker und Stelzengeher ein buntes Spektakel. Speis und Trank werden in gemütlichen Schenken kredenzt, der Wein kommt in Krügen und Bechern aus Ton. Eröffnet wird der Bozner Markt am 4. August um 21 Uhr, mit dem historischen Theaterstück „Wein, Pest & Hexenjagd – Schicksale während des Bozner Marktes“. Werbung

ab/from 2.6.2017 Die historisch wertvolle und interessante Ausstellung im Volkskunstmuseum beleuchtet die Arbeitsmigration des 20. Jahrhunderts in Tirol, welche das Bundesland in vielfältiger Weise geprägt und verändert hat. Während dieser Zeit war die Beziehung zwischen Einheimischen und Zugewanderten nicht immer konfliktfrei. Davon und von den verschiedenen Erfahrungen zeugen Interviews mit ZeitzeugInnen sowie Objekte, die von Migration und Zusammenleben erzählen. Die Ausstellung lässt unterschiedliche Sichtweisen zu und setzt sich das Ziel, die Spuren der Migration in Tirol sichtbar zu machen und eine gemeinsame Erinnerungskultur zu schaffen. Mit der Ausstellung wird in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zentrum für MigrantInnen in Tirol, dem Institut für Zeitgeschichte der Universität Innsbruck, dem Land Tirol und der Stadt Innsbruck außerdem unweigerlich gleichzeitig auch ein informativer Bezug zur Gegenwart geschaffen. The historically valuable and interesting exhibition at the Folk Art Museum examines the labour migration of the 20th century in Tyrol, which characterised and changed the federal province in many ways. During this period the relationship between locals and immigrants was not always without conflict. Interviews with contemporary witnesses as well as objects which recount the era of migration and coexistence recount the various experiences. The exhibitions allows different perspectives and sets the goal of making the traces of migration in Tyrol visible and creating a shared culture of memory. At the same time, an informative reference to the present is also created with the exhibition, which is sponsored in collaboration with the Centre for Migrants in Tyrol, the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Innsbruck, the Province of Tyrol and the City of Innsbruck. Fascinating Colours at the AUDIOVERSUM Seit dem Frühjahr dreht sich in der neuen Sonderausstellung des AUDIOVERSUM, der interaktiven Erlebniswelt zum Hören und Staunen in Innsbruck, alles um das Thema Farbe. So wird der Spätsommer noch einmal richtig romantisch und der Herbst von Feinschmeckern eingeleitet: Anfang September wird die Kiebachgasse in der Altstadt durch die vielen Marktstände der Innsbrucker Wirte wieder zum Genussplatz. Sie lassen dort Besucher Weine aus den besten österreichischen und internationalen Anbaugebieten kosten. Mariahilf und St. Nikolaus D

er Stadtteil Mariahilf/St. Nikolaus ist die älteste Ansiedelung in Innsbruck. Noch bevor die Stadt Innsbruck gegründet wurde, entstand St. Nikolaus im Jahr 1165 unter dem Namen „Anpruggen“ (was so viel heißt wie „an der Innbrücke“). Mariahilf and St. Nikolaus

he Mariahilf/St. Nikolaus district is the oldest settlement in Innsbruck. Even before the city of Innsbruck was founded, St. Nikolaus emerged in 1165 under the name “Anpruggen” (which roughly means “on the Inn Bridge”). The strikingly colourful row of houses at the foot of the Nordkette mountain range on the Inn River is the embodiment of this district. Yet this district has even more to offer. The route over the Inn Bridge on the northern side of the city is worthwhile. Anpruggen is slightly off the most well-known tourist routes and attracts visitors with its narrow alleys as well as numerous pubs and traditional Tyrolean inns. A very special living and cultural area has also evolved here in the past decades: an area in which creative individuals and artists settle and in which culture and history ■ can be experience harmoniously in an attractive atmosphere.

Auf 1.060 Metern liegt der Gasthof Rauschbrunnen idyllisch am Fuße der Nordkette und bietet Wanderern aus vielen Richtungen kulinarische Schmankerl sowie einen atemberaubenden Ausblick.

he most popular trail to the cosy restaurant in the Tyrolean Alps leads from Planötzenhof on the forest road (approx. one kilometre) to the pilgrimage chapel Höttinger Bild. The Bärfallweg trail branches off further uphill. The trail ascends moderately on the last few metres uphill and leads to the picturesque destination after about one and a half to two hours of total walking time.

After arriving at Gasthof Rauschbrunnen along the forest hiking trail, the sight of a fabulous, romantic mountain backdrop awaits guests as a start. Hearty Tyrolean alpine pasture dishes and refreshing beverages are provided in the cosy re-

Vom 21.–25. Juni bringt das Crankworx Festival erstmals Festival-Feeling samt Mountainbike-Action nach Innsbruck.

ie Vorbereitungen laufen bereits seit Monaten auf Hochtouren, um nicht nur den Athleten perfekte Wettbewerbsbedingungen zu bieten, sondern ganz Tirol als Mountainbike Destination erlebbar zu machen. Fünf spektakuläre Contests finden im Bikepark Innsbruck in Mutters und Götzens statt und sind für Zuschauer kostenfrei zugänglich. Um die wettkampffreie Zeit optimal zu nützen, wird es Trips in weitere Tiroler Bike-Regionen geben. Und mit nur einem Ticket, der Bike City Card, ist die Nutzung aller Trailgebiete rund um Innsbruck möglich. Das Festival bietet also sowohl den Teilnehmern selbst als auch den Besuchern ein sportliches Mitmach-Programm.

Spannende drei Tage

Neben der absoluten Weltelite können sich ab jetzt auch Nachwuchs Racer für den Crankworx Innsbruck Downhill bewerben. Der 2016 eröffnete Götzner Trail (Trailname: Bulgarian Way) wird Schauplatz für das DownhillRennen sein. Alle weiteren Bewerbe werden ebenfalls im Bikepark Innsbruck bei der Talstation der Muttereralmbahn sowie beim Speicherteich (Whip-Off) ausgetragen. Favoriten und Stars der Szene wie Tomas Slavik, Adrien Loron oder Mitch Ropelato sind für Fans am Donnerstag, 22. Juni ab 16:30 Uhr in Mutters beim Finale des Dual Speed & Style-Bewerbs hautnah erlebbar. Ohne ein einziges Mal in die Pedale zu treten, trennt sich bei der Pumptrack Challenge Freitagabend, 23. Juni ab 19 Uhr die Spreu vom Weizen. Fahrgefühl vom Feinsten müssen die Teilnehmer bei diesem Bewerb unter Beweis stellen. Für Samstag und Sonntag stehen dann die Königsdisziplinen im Gravity Mountainbiken am Programm: der Crankworx Innsbruck Downhill am Samstag in Götzens und der Crankworx Innsbruck Slopestyle am Sonntag in Mutters. Am Samstag, 24. Juni geht es beim Downhill-Finale ab 11:30 um den Kampf gegen die Stoppuhr. Nur ein Weg führt dabei ans Ziel: Vollgas von ganz oben bis nach unten. Rasante Abfahrten und atemberaubende Momente an der Strecke sind garantiert. Das „Grande Finale“ und der gleichzeitig prestigeträchtigste Bewerb im Crankworx Eventreigen in Innsbruck erwartet die Fans am Sonntag, 25. Juni ab 15:30 Uhr in Mutters: der Slopestyle Bewerb. Die Athleten machen bei dieser Challenge dem Mountainbike Gravity Sport alle Ehre und zeigen, was auf Cannon Logs, Dirt Jumps, Drops und Hips möglich und machbar ist.

Unendliche Strecken

Mit 29 Wettbewerbstagen an vier Austragungsorten rund um den Globus, den weltbesten Ridern der Szene und umfassender Live-Berichterstattung ist die Crankworx World Tour das Highlight schlechthin für Fans des Gravity Mountainbikens weltweit. Von 25. März bis 2. April machte die Tournee bereits in Rotorua (Neuseeland) Station. Im Juni folgen die Bewerbe in Europa: Von 14. bis 18. Juni wird die Crankworx-Community aus Les Gets (Frankreich) berichten. Erstmals ist Innsbruck Austragungsort. Abschließend kehrt Crankworx zurück in die Homebase Whistler (Kanada), welcher der finale Stopp der World Tour wird. Die Titel „King and Queen of Crankworx“ und jeweils $ 25.000 Preisgeld sind auch in diesem Jahr wieder oberstes Ziel aller Teilnehmer. Nur wer die gesamte Tour über gute Leistungen erbringt, kann die Krone erobern. Während sich im Bikepark Innsbruck Stars die Trails hinunterstürzen, bekommen Hobby-Biker bei buchbaren Exkursionen die Möglichkeit, die gesamte Bike-Region Tirol zu entdecken. Five spectacular contests will be held at Bikepark Innsbruck in Mutters and Götzens, and are accessible to spectators free of charge. In order to optimally take advantage of the competition-free time, there will be trips to other Tyrolean bike regions. And the use of all trail areas around Innsbruck is possible with only one ticket, the Bike City Card! The festival offers participants as well as visitors a sporting participatory programme.

All other competitions will also be held at Bikepark Innsbruck near the bottom station of the Muttereralm lift and at the reservoir pond (WhipOff event). Favourites and stars of the scene such as Tomas Slavik, Adrien Loron or Mitch Ropelato can be experienced up close by fans on Thursday, 22 June starting at 4:30 pm in Mutters during the finale of the Dual Speed & Style competition. The Pump Track Challenge will separate the wheat from the

chaff on Friday evening, 23 June starting at 7 pm, without having to pedal! Participants must prove that they have a superb feel for riding during this competition. Then the supreme disciplines in gravity mountain biking are on the agenda for Saturday and Sunday: the Crankworx Innsbruck Downhill on Saturday in Götzens and the Crankworx Innsbruck Slopestyle on Sunday in Mutters. The downhill finale on Saturday, 24 June starts at 11:30 am and features a struggle against the stopwatch. Only one way leads to the goal: full speed from all the way at the top to the bottom! High-speed descents and breath-taking moments are guaranteed on the course. The “grand finale” – and at the same time the most prestigious competition in the series of Crankworx events in Innsbruck – awaits fans on Sunday, 25 June in Mutters, starting at 3:30 pm: the Slopestyle competition. During this challenge the athletes will pay tribute to gravity mountain biking and demonstrate what is possible and doable on obstacles such as cannon logs, dirt jumps, drops and hips!

Endless routes

With 29 days of competition at four venues around the globe, the world’s best riders in the scene and extensive live coverage, the Crankworx World Tour is the absolute highlight for worldwide fans of gravity mountain biking. The tour already stopped off in Rotorua (New Zealand) from 25 March to 2 April. In June, competitions in Europe will follow: from 14 to 18 June the Crankworx community will be reporting from Les Gets (France). Innsbruck will be a venue for the first time. After that the Crankworx tour will return to the home base in Whistler (Canada), which will be the final stop of the world tour. The title “King and Queen of Crankworx” and $ 25,000 in respective prize money are also the utmost goal of all participants this year. Only those who render good performances throughout the entire tour can garner the crown. While the stars plunge down the trails at Bikepark Innsbruck, hobby bikers get the opportunity to discover the entire bike region Tyrol. Direkt durch den Wald und/oder über grüne Wiesen gelangt man vom Ortskern aus in 45 Minuten zum See. Die zauberhaften Spazierwege zeigen den Sommer in höheren Lagen von seiner schönsten Seite. Der Natterer See bietet ein breitgefächertes Angebot an Aktivitäten (Wassersportarten, Riesenrutsche, Bootsverleih, Wassertrampoline u. v. m.) und bietet so einen aktiven Abschluss eines entspannten Ausflugs. Ein weiteres Highlight ist der Weg zum Herzsee in Aldrans. Vom Dorfplatz aus der Rinner Straße folgend kommt man nach kurzer Zeit zum See. Mehrere auf einen Streich

Ein Herausforderung mittleren Ausmaßes ist die Drei-Seen-Wanderung im Kühtai. In insgesamt ca. zwei Stunden kommt man vom Tourismusbüro Kühtai abwärts und über die Talstation Drei-Seen-Bahn bergauf zum Finstertaler Stausee. Weiter geht es über die Drei-Seen-Hütte, die Plenderleseen und den Hirschebensee auf dem Single Trail retour. Es erwarten einen unvergessliche Eindrücke und viele kleine Naturschauspiele. Für alle, die noch mehr Wanderlust verspüren, eignet sich die große Tälerüberschreitung im Arztal. Von der Arztaler Alm gelangt man in ca. fünfeinhalb Stunden entlang der faszinierenden blauen Seen und vorbei am Geschriebenen Stein zur höchsten Erhebung, der Kreuzspitze auf rund 2.700 Metern Höhe. Bergab wandert man den Durrensee und Almweideflächen entlang bis zum Meissner Haus. Die Route kann auch umgekehrt begangen werden. After the excursion, a leap into cool water is not far away – visitors can splash around or even swim a few laps in the swimming lake known as Badesee Mieming. The “Three Lakes Hike” in Kühtai is a moderate challenge. In a total of approx. two hours you hike down from the tourism office in Kühtai and uphill to the Finstertal Reservoir via the bottom station of the DreiSeenBahn gondola lift. The hike continues via the DreiSeen Hut, the lake Plenderleseen and the lake Hirschebensee, and returns on the single trail. Unforgettable impressions and many small natural spectacles are waiting for visitors. The large-scale valley traverse into Arztal is ideal for all those who feel even more desire to wander. From the alpine pasture at Arztaler Alm you can reach the fascinating “Blue Lakes” in about five and a half hours, and pass by the cult site known as “Geschriebenen Stein” to the highest elevation – Kreuzspitze – at about 2,700 metres above sea level. Then you hike down to the lake Durrensee and along alpine grazing area to the alpine club hut Meissner Haus. The route can also be hiked the other way around. Kinder gut zu bewältigen ist. Ein besonderes Highlight ist neben den uralten Zirbenbeständen die Almrosenblüte von Anfang Juni bis Ende Juli.

Wohlverdiente Pausen

Nordöstlich vom Patscherkofelgipfel ist auf einer Geländeschulter auf einer Seehöhe von rund 1.700 Metern die kleine und urige Lanser Alm zu finden. Auf der Terrasse genießt man einen Ausblick auf die gegenüberliegende Nordkette. Bestimmt nie langweilig wird es auf der Aldranser Alm. Von traditioneller Tiroler Küche bishin zu Vollmondjazz wird vieles geboten. Auch diese schön eingebettete Alm auf dem Innsbrucker Hausberg bietet einem einen wunderschönen Ausblick. The small, rustic alpine pasture hut Lanser Alm is located to the northeast of the Patscherkofel summit on a mountain spur at an altitude of about 1,700 metres above sea level. Nach fast zwei Jahrzehnten intensiver Renovierungsarbeiten kann nun das eindrucksvolle Ergebnis bewundert werden.

as erste Mal urkundlich im Jahr 1065 erwähnt, schlägt die Geburtsstunde des Stiftes Stams erst offiziell im Jahr 1273. In jenem Jahr beabsichtigte Graf Meinhard II. von Görz-Tirol, ein Kloster zu stiften, welches fortan als Begräbnisstätte der Grafen von Görz-Tirol dienen sollte. Laut einer bekannten Legende ist die Gründung des Klosters auf den grausamen Tod des letzten Staufers Konradin – er wurde 1268 in Neapel enthauptet – zurückzuführen. Die Mutter Konradins, Elisabeth von Wittelsbach (gest. 1273, in erster Ehe mit dem Stauferkönig Konrad IV. verheiratet), soll ihren Mann, Graf Meinhard II. gebeten haben, einen Gedenkort für ihren so unglücklichen Sohn zu stiften. 1295 starb Graf Meinhard, er wurde mit seiner Frau in der Gruft (heute links vor dem Hochaltar gelegen) der Stiftskirche beigesetzt. Danach wurde das Stift bald zu einem wirtschaftlichen Zentrum der Region. Im Mittelalter von Plünderungen und bis ins 20. Jahrhundert von Kriegen nicht verschont, wurde das Gebäude nun bereits zum zweiten Mal rund 18 Jahre lang grundlegend renoviert und erstrahlt jetzt für Besucher in neuem Glanz. Rund 20 Millionen Euro wurden investiert, einen Großteil davon steuerte die öffentliche Hand bei. Eine Besonderheit neben eindrucksvollen Räumlichkeiten und Bauten (Stiftskirche, Bernardisaal, Heilig-Blut-Kapelle, Musikarchiv, Stiftsbibliothek, Ikonenausstellung): Die Mönche des Klosters leben nachhaltig und verwenden ausschließlich ihre eigenen Energieressourcen. ■

Shines in new splendour Now the impressive result can be admired after nearly two decades of intense renovations.

entioned in a document for the first time in 1065, the origins of Stams Abbey first officially began in 1273. In that year Count Meinhard II of Gorizia-Tyrol intended to found an abbey which was to serve from this time on as a burial site for the Counts of Gorizia-Tyrol. According to a well-known legend, the founding of the abbey is attributed to the cruel death of the last heir to the Staufer dynasty, Conrad – in 1268 he was beheaded in Naples. Conrad’s mother, Elisabeth of Wittelsbach (died in 1273, married to King Conrad IV of the Staufer dynasty in her first marriage) is said to have asked her husband Count Meinhard II to found a memorial site for her so unfortunate son. Count Meinhard died in 1295. He was buried with his wife in the crypt (situated today on the left in front of the high altar) of the abbey church. After that the abbey soon became an economic centre of the region. It was not spared from lootings in the medieval period and wars well into the 20th century. Now the building has already been thoroughly renovated for the second time for about 18 years, and now it shines in new splendour for visitors. About 20 million euros were invested. A majority of this has been contributed by the public sector. A special feature in addition to impressive premises and buildings (abbey church, St. Bernard’s Hall, Holy Blood Chapel, music archive, abbey library and exhibition of icons): the abbey monks live in a sustainable manner and use ■ only their own energy resources.
