rothers and guests gathered and reflected as Order of the Golden Heart recipient, Dr. Steve Shanklin ’69, and undergraduate Chaplain, Alex Kursave ’11, recognized brothers who have passed away over KYE’s 40-year history. A stone memorial was created to honor their contributions while their chapter roll was called one final time in joining the chapter eternal. It was a chance to remember those brothers who, through their death, have reminded us that life is transitory. Roy East and Steve Shanklin

“Grow With Murray State” marked 2009 Homecoming

aturday, October 10 was a full day for Murray State alumni and students. With the annual parade down Main Street, the local chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon came out in force to march beside their float entry with Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Moving on to the 20th annual Tent City, alumni and family enjoyed burgers and fixins at the SFE tent while they visited with friends and waited for the game to begin.

ore than 300 alumni, undergraduates, friends and family joined MSU President Dr. Randy Dunn in celebrating 40 years of KY Epsilon. While Dunn spoke of the undergraduate chapter’s continued pursuit for excellence within the MSU community, Dr. Tom Spoerner spoke of the beginnings of KYE and his time as its first chapter counselor. Both Spoerner and Dr. Charles Homra, who was unable to attend, were awarded the national fraternity’s Volunteer Excellence award. Chad Lampe, AVC president, and Aaron Dail, AVC communications director, reflected on their experiences as KYE alumni and closed out the evening with the singing of the fraternity’s anthem and thanking all who helped in putting together the 40th homecoming festivities.

igEp alumni and undergraduates hit the links at Murray Country Club Sunday afternoon for the Homecoming Golf Tournament. Prizes were awarded to the first and worst place teams while undergraduate brothers and alumni shared personal experiences of what Sig Ep means to them.
