NEWS FROM KÄHLER Welcome to a new chapter in the story about Kähler’s inspirational universe! This spring, we will be presenting a distinctive, innovative and modern ceramics collection based on Kähler’s more than 175-year-old history. We will be launching new product series in concert with some of today’s best designers, and we have also this year invited completely new design talents to join our fairytale. The collection clearly underlines Kähler’s position as the leading design firm in Scandinavia- Both well-known and popular ceramic products are rethought and reinterpreted and all-new and exciting product categories are presented in the collection. With the new Hammershøi tableware, Kähler opens the door to a brand new and exciting fairytale, which really puts Kähler on the map as a supplier of lifelong and timeless tableware. With its obvious historical references, Nordic colours and modern look, the Hammershøi tableware is fantastic versatile tableware that will delight and be collected by design lovers for life. Kähler’s Nordic DNA shines through all the products where the elegant ceramic idiom is matched with modern Nordic materials, and heavy oak, delicate glass and beautiful ceramics form a synthesis. Our spring collection presents both deep colours and delicate pastels – all colours that we meet in the Nordic nature and which go hand in hand with the beautiful materials found at northern latitudes. HAMMERSHØI DESIGN HANS-CHRISTIAN BAUER
The 175 year old design company, Kähler Design, reinterprets a true cultural gem and transforms it into a contemporary tableware set. The Hammershøi tableware set is an elegant and minimalistic line of designs with historical details made of authentic Nordic materials, such as ceramics, oak and glass. The beautiful and stylish line draws a fine common thread back to the old Kähler workshops days, where the world famous artist Svend Hammershøi developed the expression and the techniques that inspired this tableware set. The tableware set will look fantastic on a beautifully set Sunday brunch table or complementing a delicious meal, as the different items will present the ingredients in a beautiful and stylish way. HAMMERSHØI BRINGS TOGETHER KÄHLER IN THE PAST AND PRESENT Svend Hammershøi was a world-renowned artist attached to Kähler’s workshop from the late 19th century. His works for Kähler won fame far beyond the borders of Denmark and can still be seen at museums around the world. Hammershøi was particularly known for his large, voluminous vases with distinct furrows and beautiful profiles, which he liked to cut by hand. Hammershøi was of unique importance to Kähler. He was the artist attached to Kähler’s workshop for the longest time and his works were produced in the greatest number reaching out to the whole world. Again today, Kähler’s ceramics come with Hammershøi’s hand-carved profiles. The new Hammershøi tableware by outstanding designer Hans-Christian Bauer is based on Hammershøi’s characteristic red clay vases and reinterprets the deep carvings, which on the tableware appear as discrete and elegant furrows on the ceramics. In this way, Hans-Christian Bauer brings together Kähler’s past and present and has created tableware that is so timeless and elegant that it can be used for a lifetime. The Nordic lightness and elegance characterising the Hammershøi tableware are complemented by Nordic materials such as the heavy oak and the fragile glass. The meeting between materials gives the historical Hammershøi tableware an edge and adds interesting details to the ceramic elements. The Hammershøi tableware comes with decorative furrows, giving it a classic look and letting the glaze flow elegantly and slightly transparently across the vivid idioms of the ceramics. The tableware is lifted a trifle from the table so it is stable and has a light hovering elegance, and, in combination with the natural colours white, dark grey, ocean blue, coral and marble grey, the individual elements turn into small design wonders in themselves.

Ceramics with history
HANDMADE QUALITY AND UNIQUE DETAILS Every single present-day Kähler design pays tribute to Kähler’s unique history and celebrates the well-preserved handicraft, but is also a powerful reflection of today. The explanation is that the ceramic designs are still handmade as when the Kähler fairytale began back in 1839. Like the women painters decorated the ceramics by hand with cow’s horns at the old Kählersbakken more than one hundred years ago, every single graceful glaze and colour are still meticulously made by adhering to Kähler’s ceramic handicraft traditions. Today, for instance, a Mano cup goes through 12 hand processes after having been cast in the workshop in which it is glazed, quality-checked and fine-polished etc. to become a beautiful useful piece in the end, while maintaining that little detail that makes every single Kähler design unique. When buying Kähler’s design, you thus take a piece of handmade cultural heritage with a personal look and historical details home with you.
OMAGGIO DESIGN JELENA SCHOU NORDENTOFT AND DITTE RECKWEG
Now comes one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful and popular design icons in brand new and shiny look. Omaggio has been adorned with metallic silver stripes to unite two of today’s hottest materials, ceramics and metal, in the treasured design. The sophisticated and stylish silver colour is inspired by the metals of nature and has undertones of other metallic colours such as pink, green and purple. The beautiful, rounded ceramics meets the raw and cold metallic colour to create an exciting interplay between the two materials engendering a cool and feminine look. LOVE SONG DESIGN JELENA SCHOU NORDENTOFT AND DITTE RECKWEG
The raw expression combined with the loving messages has already won the hearts of many design lovers, and the Love Song line is now expanded with a series of new vases in authentic Nordic shades. The colours are challenged by the heartfelt lyrics embossed into the ceramics. Like the existing Love Song vase line, these new vases are also decorated with the lyrics from four of the greatest love songs of all times; ”Love Me Tender”, ”All You Need is Love”, ”It Had to be You” and ”I Got You Babe”. You may display the Love Song vases separately or combine them to form your own personal tableau of colourful vases with fresh flowers or branches.

URSULA DESIGN URSULA MUNCH-PETERSEN
The treasured Danish designer gem, the Ursula tableware line, which was relaunched by K채hler in the spring of 2014, is now extended with four elegant mugs in the beautiful and deep spring colours of yellow, light green, white and grey. The mugs are perfect for everyday use, but they also add a fresh touch to the table setting for one of the many spring gatherings, because the fresh colours remind us of the sunny spring days when the first little snowdrops and anemones are budding in the forest clearing. The Ursula mugs can add a colourful twist to your collection of mugs, and they decorate beautifully on the table, when you have guests over for a cup of coffee in the first warm rays of spring sun.

This spring Kähler is taking ceramics to another level. Mellibi combines function with aesthetics and serves as elegant storage for everyday bathroom items such as cotton balls, tooth brushes, cotton buds, jewelry and make-up. Mellibi has a soft and elegant shape, broken by a geometrical pattern which gently fades into the light and transparent glaze. Mellibi is the perfect example of a beautiful and authentic interplay between the hard ceramic material and the soft leather that adds an elegant touch. Mellibi is Kähler’s modern and aesthetic touch to yet another room of the house with great potential of becoming a beautiful and relaxing oasis.

This spring, K채hler Design introduces an expansion of the popular Botanica line that is characterized by vivid glazes and subtle, Nordic shades in beautiful faience. We already know the colour spectrum from the existing Botanica line, and the almost enigmatic colours and vivid glazes give the vases a look that changes according to sunlight, shades and movements. Pick the early spring flowers and place them in vases at the centre of the table, or arrange a personal design surprise by placing one vase next to each setting.

The popular Ora wall clocks are launched in new and modern shades and the line is expanded with a cool and elegant table clock with a stringent and pure look that perfectly matches the rest of the Ora line. The little Ora table clock has the same stringent and stylistic look as the popular wall clocks from the same line, but the table clock has a new shape and volume. When added the black and white look, the clock turns into a cool and graphic design object that fits every home.
