2022: EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

As we enter 2022, we are hopeful for a year of renewal but we have come to expect the unexpected. We have been busy planning for even more diverse products to enter our Kala catalog and we have weathered the changes and challenges 2021 presented. I am amazed at how many of our dealers shifted, adapted and re-tooled their businesses in the middle of this ongoing pandemic. You guys are truly creative! We at Kala have adapted as well, shifting our shipping operations to a larger facility in Ashland, Virginia, to accommodate more inventory and improve transit times. Our Sales and Marketing Operations as well as Kala Elite USA Manufacturing will remain in Petaluma, California with new streamlined facilities. We continue to ship and make local deliveries direct f rom our Hawaii Warehouse. For 2022, we are releasing many products unlike what we’ve had before, such as: our concert-sized, hard candy shell Candy Shoppe ukuleles in six colors, two Cigar Box Ukuleles with original Victorian and Art Deco laser etched designs, our many years in the making Solid Body Tenor Ukuleles, and our allnew, high-end Kala Skyline ® Series for the serious ukulele player. The U•BASS ® line will expand with a special, affordable U•BASS ® collaboration with Bakithi Kumalo, Paul Simon’s bassist, and an affordable f retless Scout U•BASS ®. We continue in our pursuit of offering the widest variety of innovative instruments — in sizes, styles, tonewoods, and more! The pages of this catalog are bursting with classic favorites alongside new and varied options at every price point. Kala Artist Ukulenny will be your guide through most of the Learn To Play site. Ukulenny is originally f rom San Diego, CA. He moved to California’s Bay Area in 2004 to attend the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Theatre minor.

He completed his teaching

credential f rom Cal State East Bay in 2011 and spent the next f ive years teaching in public schools around the Bay Area. In 2010, his passion for music education led him to start a YouTube channel with ukulele covers and tutorials. Ukulenny has become somewhat of a staple at Kala and helps create plenty of content for Kala’s Learn To Play program, as well as performing and educating whenever and wherever he can.
