Revolu tion C o nce p t S ta te me n t The new Department of Design office space project will revolve around a feeling of growth and change. Through repetition, variety, and color the space will emulate a complete cycle. This space will be representative of the rich West Texas history that flows through Texas Tech. It will be showcased by a constant state of motion and revolution, as seen in the windmill. This feeling will be accomplished through the use of new and adaptable technologies and the use of recycled materials, both natural and manmade. The interior will be reminiscent of the West Texas plains with rich colors and the immersion of the exterior environment into the office space.
BUILDING CLASSIFICATION:
COMMON PATH OF TRAVEL:
The building is classified as a Business Occupancy determined by the occupancy load calculations below.
This space is sprinkled so the common path of travel can be up to 100 feet.
OCCUPANCY LOAD:
Due to the program requirements, there is no space in the room which is more than 100 feet to two points of egress indicated as entry and vestibule on the blocking plan. Maximum distance to an exit is ~60’.
The square footage of the new Department of Design is 3236 SF. To determine the occupancy load, this is divided by 100. 3236/100=~32 people.

Crea tion C o nce p t S ta te me n t This project will encompass the diversity and simplicity of nature. A combination of color and natural lines, along with light will provide a harmonious relationship between the inside and outside world. Through simple design, the interior will feel warm and comfortable while maintaining an unadorned and uncluttered atmosphere.
