Education & Outreach Educational Concerts Another three educational concerts over the 20192020 Season reached over 1,300 students, by bringing them right into the Sagebrush theatre for a taste of a Classical Music. Students learned about performance practice from guest artist Thierry BĂŠgin-Lamontagne as part of LOVE! In November 2019 and learned the basics of opera as part of KSO at the Opera in January of 2020. Teacher guides were distributed in advance to all those who attended.

Conducting 101 Workshops We held another successful run of our fun and interactive program for elementary students, featuring Music Director Dina Gilbert, and seven musicians who travel into schools to give students an introduction to what goes in to being a conductor. We visited 5 elementary schools and reached over 1,100 students. Thanks to the generous support of many partners, including the Musicians Pension Trust Fund, and the Hamber Foundation, we were able to bring this show on the road to 100 Mile House & 108 Mile House in March of 2020.

Other Initiatives Throughout the Season, Music Director Dina Gilbert also participated in several workshops for those in School District No. 73, including offering a professional development workshop for music teachers in the city. We also continued our partnership with the Kamloops Performing Arts Festival, and their annual award to a promising emerging classical musician.
