To be more aware of what happened before, mainly in order to avoid the same mistakes. And it’s always good to know about the history of how life was before, it helps you to appreciate life.

CLARA For me, history is one of the most important subjects in school, knowing the past and the present it’s very interesting. DELINE We learn history for this memory of our past and for new generations to understand how we got there. To remind us of all the nonsense that was made.

EMMA

It’s very important to understand the past and the present. Moreover it's a general culture.

INES I think that the history we learn at school allows us on one hand to acquire knowledge and culture and on the other hand, to set a temporality in our life.

KASSANDRA That it is important to know history to see if something bad from the past happens again nowadays to prevent it.

LAURE

History that we learnt at the school permitted, in my opinion, to create a common story between students and citizens.

LUKAS

In my opinion, it's because you have to know your history in order to understand your value, appreciate what you have and accept other people and their cultures. And of course, to learn from mistakes already made. History is, afterall, a summary of the evolution of mankind and seeing how big changes we made, is simply mind-opening. To have general culture, to know why our country is what it is today and how it has become so.

VIKTOR To understand cultural differences and relationships between nations.

YANN Learning history is a good way to understand the world as it is right now, by being aware of what's happened before. You have a better grasp on culture, people's mindset and architecture.

VIRA

I think that children should learn from childhood to understand where they were born, to know the history of their country, families, to understand - what is the war that this revolution is everything in order not to repeat the mistakes of ancestors in the future.

What is your favorite historical period and why?

BENJAMIN I’m not sure, antic Greece maybe… Or the 70’s because the festivals there were just different. DELINE

I don't really have a favorite historical period but I enjoyed studying WWI, I find it interesting.

INES

Even though I did not experience them, there are several historical periods that interest me, such as the prehistoric period, where man was completely different from what he is today. This society walked without money and without a course in power, because their behavior depends only on their basic needs. The post-war period (thirty glorious years) also inspires me, there have been a large number of technological advances, scientific with medical innovations. This period was a great economic and social turning point. LUKAS

I like medieval ages, with all those castle shenanigans and sword fights. But my favorite is actually II.WW simply because it's more relatable for me and more importantly, the world we live in now, was actually formed after the 2nd world war. The 20th century was in my opinion the richest for inventions, which were partly also motivated by war and chasing power. Last but not

LAURE I must admit that for a long time I had a passion for ancient Egypt, still now Different periods interest me, but in particular that of prehistory and that of the world wars.

EMMA Prehistory is my favorite historical period because we understand how it all started

KASSANDRA I am impressed by the old Egypts, The Ancient Greeks and the Romans

TAMARA I don't have a favorite historical period, because I don't know enough about the subject to claim to have a favorite, but if I had to choose one, I think I would choose the contemporary era because it is the time when everything started to become more modern and which remains recent enough to know what exactly is happening there.

VIKTOR My favorite historical period is Viking era. I love everything Nordic and history is not an excep-

VIRA My favorite period in history is the ancient period. The flowering of Greece presented us with a beautiful architectural ensemble as well as sculptures. We can enjoy this beauty today.

YANN I like antiquity because we need to make roman empire great again.

What does history mean to you personally?

INES When we talk about history, it is often something that happens only once, a unique case, a context that we can no longer reproduce artificially, you can take any example: the fall of the wall of Berlin to your last love story. For me, the word history is as broad term as it is important. What story do I have to talk about personally? From a story from a children's account, from a school subject or from a story that happened to me last week? This word is as broad as there is meaning, for me, history is not only synonymous with the past, we have a common history, that of the past, the origin of man, but it does not Remember that everyone writes their own story individually.

DELINE I find history interesting because it is a way to remember our past as a French citizen, it describes us and educates future generations. But still I find that some points could be more in-depth and

BENJAMIN History is like our DNA, it’s something that you live with, you have to discover it to understand why things are the way they are now. History is CLARA History is understanding, discovering, learning, and above all, enriching oneself. This is something that fascinates me enormously. EMMA For me history is one of the most important class in school and it’s very passionate

KASSANDRA Know the past to understand the future.

LAURE In my opinion cross History it’s possible to see that humans stay the same.

LUKAS

I really like history and it was one of my favorite classes in HS. I like to explore, learn new things and see the perspective of other people, how they see the world and how they deal with it. History offers all of that and even more. I like to know where do I come from. What must have happened on this earth in order for me to be here today, writing these letters which are basically ones and zeros which basically represent electrical voltage. And even that wouldn't be possible without history. If I think about it, History is everything. You are reading those very lines and they are basically history, because I had written them days before you got to read them now. TAMARA

For me, history brings together everything that may have happened in the past and in all the countries of the world and not just the one where I come from.

VIKTOR I would like to say that history means for me fun. You can hear a lot of crazy and funny stories which really happened and sometimes they are hilarious.

VIRA History is the process of evolution of people, countries, peoples and planets. The story reminds us how fast time and how important it is to realize your plans here and now. We need to know our past to build a bright future. YANN Its a passion for me and also my study field, it matter to me a lot because it helped to know where i’m from and being proud of my ancestors and my country.
