Kansas Youth Soccer Partners with NSCAA to better serve our member coaches. In 2014, Kansas Youth Soccer member coaches have additional benefits as our partnership with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) goes into full effect.

Kansas Youth Soccer offers Spring Coaching Courses—Youth Modules, “E”, and “D” Courses Kansas Youth Soccer has scheduled numerous coaching courses throughout each weekend in March offering Youth Modules, National “E” License, and National “D” License courses. To view the various coaching course schedules and to register - CLICK HERE. In order to register for the National “D” License course, you must have obtained the National “E” License and held it for a minimum of six (6) months prior to taking the National “D” License as mandated by US Soccer.

US Soccer Announces Spring, Summer and Fall National Coaching School Locations Coaching Schools Provide Opportunity to Earn a Nationally Recognized License; Registration Opens Feb. 6 for Spring and Summer Courses. CHICAGO (Jan. 16, 2014) - U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Department will conduct National Coaching Schools in May, June, July, and August. “A” Renewal, “A”, “B”, and “C” courses will be held in California, Illinois, Minnesota, and Washington during these months. AMSSM Position Statement on Overuse Injuries in Youth Sports The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) has just released “Overuse Injuries and Burnout in Youth Sports: A Position Statement from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.” It was published in the January issue of the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine and will be published later this month in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Kansas Youth Soccer Tournament to fit your team’s level Kansas Youth Soccer Events: Kansas State Cup - for teams wanting the opportunity to compete at the highest level and advance through the National Championship Series via Midwest Regional Championships and to the US Youth National Championships. Kansas Presidents Cup - for U13-U17 Boys and U13-U14 Girls teams wanting the opportunity to compete and advance to a Regional and National level of competition but not quite at the competitive level of the top teams within the State. National League, Midwest Regional League, APL National League: US Youth Soccer National League competition is for the nation’s top teams in the U14-U18 Boys and Girls age groups. The National League offers additional exposure to collegiate, professional and U.S. National Team coaches and offers the highest level of competition in the country as each must earn their place in the league. Midwest Regional League (MRL):

Alliance Premier League (APL):

The Midwest Regional League (MRL) mission is to provide the highest standard of competitive play for youth teams in the US Youth Soccer Region II (the Midwest Region).

The Alliance Premier League allows competitive teams from the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas to compete in a more sub-regionalized version of the MRL.

Teams must compete in their respective State Cup competition in order to be considered for MRL play. For more information about the MRL, CLICK HERE.

Olympic Development Program (ODP) Kansas Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) has already begun their cycle year having held tryouts in the Fall of 2013. However, if any coaches feel like they know of any elite players who can potentially make it to the Regional or National levels, please feel free to contact Mark Sheldon, ODP Technical Director, by sending an e-mail to—coaching@kansasyouthsoccer.org. Kansas Players have had success in the past year: Dorian Bailey (Sporting Blue Valley, Mission Hills) - Kansas Girls 1997 player represented the U.S. on the U17 National Team in the CONCACAF qualifying. Will Laufer (Sporting Blue Valley, Lawrence) - Kansas Boys 1998 player represented Region II in the US Youth ODP Winter Inter-Regional. Was named to the Best XI All-Star Team. Patrick Wilkinson (Sporting KC, Overland Park) - Kansas Boys 1999 player represented Region II in the US Youth ODP Inter-Regional. Was selected to travel to Costa Rica with Region II ODP.

Kansas Youth Soccer to offer their Developmental Camp in 2014 Kansas Youth Soccer is offering their annual In-State Developmental Residential Camp in June of 2014. The Camp is for Boys and Girls ages 9-13 with birth years of 2001-2004. This camp focuses on the teaching of the technical skills in an individual and small group setting to maximize touches on the ball within a game-based structure. The Camp will be held at Ottawa University. Girls Residential Camp - June 21-24, 2014. Boys Residential Camp - June 25-28, 2014. Kansas Youth Soccer Coaches Association The Kansas Youth Soccer Coaches Association was created in 2014 and is free to all active competitive coaches within Kanas. The association serves two main functions. First, as an educational forum to raise the level of soccer knowledge and coaching expertise; secondly, as an advisory group on matters of soccer development. From the association, we will also work to create a State Technical Committee comprised of Technical leaders within the coaching community as an ad hoc group to initiate real change in the political realm of youth soccer in the state of Kansas. The association will be looking to schedule upcoming webinars in the spring and throughout the remainder of the year.
