KAOSPILOT ENTERPRISING LEADERSHIP 2016
THE EDUCATION: our focus Enterprising Leadership is the discipline practiced at Kaospilot. It is a practice of sense-making about what matters and what is needed. The practice of developing and realizing ideas and concepts. Of creating value and leading transformative change. Also adapting to change. It is the practice of building businesses and fostering collaboration. Enterprising Leaderhip is trans-disciplinary. The practice has evolved over 25 years of experimentation and experience, and consists of a combination of abilities, skills, mindsets and methods which belong to variuos fields including:
VALUE CREATION & TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE
We live in a time where we are facing many daunting challenges. We also believe that we live in a time of even greater creative potential, and possibility for responding to those challenges and making a contribution. Our focus is putting this potential into practice. Learning how to understand, imagine and dream, and then deliver. You will explore and investigate value creation and transformational change from a variety of perspectives including economic, social, cultural, ecological and what this means in practice, and for you and your values.

CULTIVATING ENTERPRISING LEADERSHIP
The Practice of Enterprising Leadership
From these fields you are taught leading theories, methods, tool and frameworks, and more importantly, training and skills in how to customize, combine and apply them into your project and work. You will be working with a wide range of projects, and will learn how to adapt your practice to the unique context of each assignment. Whether it is organizing a cultural event, facilitating a multi-stakeholder process, developing a new product, or starting your own business, your practice can adapt to what is needed to realize your goals and ideas..
ECOLOGICAL We explore value and change at various scales, from the client and customer to the wider community, nature and society as a whole. Investigating the many questions that arise from this complexity is supported by leading teachers and practitioners with experience in doing the same.

You will learn by creating and delivering concepts, solutions and value to clients, collaborators, the market, and communities. You will learn by receiving their feedback and comments on your work.

learning PRINCIPLES
With 25 years of experience, we seek to create a setting and community based on these principles: 1. The uniqueness of each students should be respected and their potential developed. 2. The student is responsible for their learning process and journey throughout the education. 3. Each student is responsible for making the community shine. 4. Learning is a process of seeking out meaning. 5. Learning should combine exploration, practice, creation, performance and reflection. 6. Learning involves the whole person: body, mind, emotions and character. 7. Learning is a lifelong process that continues after graduation. 8. The learning space should be experimental and take risks. 9. The learning process and curriculum should be open and unfold according to new developments, discoveries and possibilities

“I am currently working on my Pilot Project. I have started NaturAgenturen, a Nature-based Innovation Lab that focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration, within design processes. We start by letting biology and design meet!
“I came to the school with a dream of making my own sustainable denim brand. What if fashion would give more than it takes? I want to create a brand with natural products, free from toxins and pesticides, a fair and traceable supply chain, with the option of recycling.”
My ambition is for people from many different disciplines to gain the will for working together and provide a set of methods/tools that will make the collaboration fruitful.”
Anna Plum Forrest Current Student / 2nd Year / Team 21 Danish
“Our community has a real ‘do-ocratic culture’, where people take initiatives in all sizes and shapes and support shows up from all corners of the building. I feel we are trying to create a place where all individuals are committed to and feel the importance in being an active part of the community. Also, that we dare to have an opinion about what is good for the World and dare to step up and ask if we are actually doing what we are here to do in the best possible way.” 14

“I am a musician, so my main work is to make music and perform it. But at the same time I need to be involved with a lot of other work around the music. I use the things I’ve learned at Kaospilot a lot in my work now. Trying to make music in new ways. Trying to work with the music in new ways. And maybe most of all being good at collaborating and working with all sorts of different people.”

“I am a serial social entrepreneur, who leads societal innovation processes. But what does that mean? For the past 10 years I have founded several social impact projects and consulted large multinational organisation how to “do well by doing good”. I use 90% of what I learned at the KaosPilots in my daily business. Not many university degrees can claim that! My Kaospilot education amongst others taught me value based leadership, it developed my ability to build strong eco-systems and taught me to facilitate co-creation between stakeholders.”
“I am currently running a small, experimental art school and an artist collective/residence in a small village on the east coast of Iceland. In short, it all has to do with figuring out ways of living and being by engaging with our lives artistically. In the words of Robert Filliou: “Art is what makes life more intersting than art”. The most important thing
KAOSPILOT ENTERPRISING LEADERSHIP 2016
I have taken with me from my time at Kaospilot are the people I met there and the consensus we created about not having to do things in the way that they were normally done. We’re still figuring out how go about it. All in all, those years were part of forming a foundation for all the things that I have been doing since.” 15
