Feltarbejdet omfatter opmåling og analyse samt andre supplerende registreringsformer af udvalgte karakteristiske bygninger og byrum. Der introduceres begreber som iagttagelse og analyse af stedets betydning for formgivning af rum. Der undervises i en fænomenologisk tilgang til registreringen og analysen. Illustrationen viser et bykort rumligt fortolket ved hjælp af stearin og bevægelse gennem byen.

Field study comprises measurements and analyses and other supplementary forms of recording of select characteristic buildings and city spaces. The students are introduced to concepts like observation and analysis of the importance of the place for the shaping of the space. The instruction includes a phenomenological approach to recording and analysis. The illustration shows a city map interpreted from a spatial point of view by the use of candle wax and movement through the city.

Public bath facility in Dragør

Den fysiske ramme er Kastrup Fort. Det eksisterende fort skæres op i en stribe analytiske snit, der afdækker de eksisterende rumlige sammenhænge i anlægget. Opgaven består nu i at vælge et snit og bruge denne rumlige sammenhæng som afsæt for udviklingen af et badeanlæg. I det viste eksempel bliver der arbejdet bevidst med lysets vandring i relation til funktion og rumforløb.

The location is Kastrup Fortress. The existing fortress is cut into a number of analytical sections that clarify the existing spatial contexts of the structure. The assignment consists of choosing a section and using this spatial context as a point of departure for the development of a public bath facility. The example shows conscious work with the movement of light in relation to the functions and sequences of the rooms.

Registrering af stillads på feltarbejde i Palermo. En planlagt rute gennem byen registreres, et site udvælges og registreres. En model af sitet laves i A1 foldeteknik - intet må bortskæres eller tilføjes, ligesom der heller ikke må bruges lim eller andre bindemidler.

Recording of scaffolding during field work in Palermo. A planned route through the town is recorded and a site is chosen and recorded. The students make a model of the site in A1 folding technique – nothing should be cut away or added and the use of glue and other binding agents is not allowed.

Når man skal forholde mennesket til boligen og omvendt anvender man skalaglidning. Ved hjælp af tre størrelser moduler i tre skalaer sættes kroppen, boligen og karréen i forhold til hinanden.

A gliding scale is used to describe the relationship between man and his dwelling and vice versa. The relationship between the body, the dwelling and the complex are described by means of three differently sized modules in three scales.

Studier, der udfordrer sammenhængen mellem arkitektonisk tema, program og projekt. Feltarbejdet baseres på skitseopgaven, værkanalysen og tilsvarende studier inden afrejse. De arkitektoniske forslag knytter sig til det udvalgte sted og den fundne problematik i felten. Byens særlige kendetegn og problemer identificeres og bygninger og byrum registreres specifikt som kontekster, der kan hjemtages fra rejsen.

Studies that challenge the relationship between architectural theme, programme and project. The field work is based on the sketch assignment, the work analysis and similar studies undertaken before departure. The architectural proposals relate to the chosen location and the problems encountered in the field. The specific characteristics and problems of the town are identified, and buildings and city spaces are recorded specifically as contexts that can be taken home after the trip. Circus laboratory in Palermo A study in time, scale, housing and the relationship between the idea of a circus performance in Palermo, the representation and the actual graduation event. The umbrella of the tightrope walker in the circus performance becomes a real umbrella in the auditorium, a pavilion in the film and the idea of a new sky above the ruin in Palermo.
