Dear Collaborators,
n this occasion, our Issue number XI, we share the closing of a fabulous year for the Organization and its Collaborators, but also this edition is aimed at what is NEW in the year 2013, a year which, no doubt, presents infinite professional challenges and, of course, sustained, well planned growth for the company. Its title… New Year… New Projects says it all. That’s where we are headed, in opening new horizons, new paths to travel through, new projects… In this issue, you’ll learn more about the Seashore Bay Beach Resort Hotel in Jamaica, a warm property facing a beautiful sea, which dazzles the senses, where its people, kind and gentle by nature, have become a perfect fit for our sober quality and courteous, but Passionate, service philosophy. On the other hand, you will also learn about the extraordinary Marketing & Sales team working out of the new offices in Belgrade, Serbia, serving the whole European market, promoting our spectacular hotels. We proudly see that their offices are filled with photographs of all of our properties, which guide and focus them, in the promotion of our tourist destinations. Also in this number, we briefly introduce Mr. Marinko Benic, General Director of the new company in the group, called Karisma Hotels Adriatic, which was created as a result of our expansion plans, and which will manage the opening of Villa Kolocep, a beautiful property launched in Croatia (Europe) after April 15 of this year, and of which you will receive more information in the upcoming issues. Likewise, the re-launching of the Fuentes Culinary Theatre at El Dorado Royale, a unique concept in its kind in the world, combining the Haute Cuisine and an exceptional service, with a live culinary show accompanied by an audio- visual TV format. Also, in the upcoming number, you will learn more about our recent alliance with Jackson Family Wines.
New Year… New Projects!! And, as always, you’ll enjoy the traditional sections of the magazine, along with news of interest for all. As we have seen that new things are taking place quite rapidly, we have begun publishing an Informative Newsletter, which will be released whenever there is news to share, without having to wait for the next issue of the Magazine to be published. Therefore, I invite you to maintain Kontact with our publications and to remain well informed, and on time, about our new projects…

of the benefits of the services we offer and, of course, there were also massage sessions for those in attendance. We covered areas of personal and familiar interests with talks about “Child Abuse”, “Non Discrimination”, “Obesity and its risks, sharing with doctors and specialists who gladly offered their services in basic consultations for the course students. The objective for the year were 127,680 training hours and, all in all, we benefited from 175,094 hours. Many congratulations to all hotels for their dedication and concern for the training of our Collaborators.
On the other hand, at the various hotels, we launched the program called “Spa Induction”, where the Collaborators learn
But we also fulfilled out promise and supported our Collaborators with their Housekeeping, Waiter, Bartender, and Cook Certifications.

Helping with Passion
PROCESSIONS… LA GUADALUPANA
F
ollowing the traditions of our country and, of course, of our hotels, this time of the year we honor the Lady, the Virgin of Guadalupe. We sang “Las Mañanitas” with passion, in the company of the Mariachi, we had the traditional thanksgiving mass and, at the end, we couldn’t miss the traditional delicious “Tamales” and “Champurrado” for everyone present. Our General Managers accompanied “La Guadalupana” in such a magnificent ceremony, in her procession through the hotel. Of course, many guests coming forward and joining the procession was a very nice added gift.
At the El Dorado, Hotels, as we do every year, we also enjoyed the presence of Mr. José Luis Martínez and Mrs. Dolores López Lira, who shared these fine moments, of such a well-loved tradition, every step of the way. May the Virgin Queen rule, remain present in our lives and in the day-to-day activities of our Hotels, so that 2013 may be a year filled with prosperity for everyone who works here.

MEETINGS
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS, “POSADAS” and TOASTS
A
fter the sports, cultural, and social quarter we enjoyed with the Karisma Olympics, we closed the year in style with our traditional, colorful and thematic Monthly Collaborators Meetings, as well as with our Christmas season events. We appreciated the many costumes, Day of the Dead altars, mariachi music, and most of all MUCH FUN AND SOCIAL INTERACTION WITH PASSION!!!!!!!
Of course, the traditional “Posadas” improve year after year, and become a very special day to enjoy and be together, celebrating the successes of the year, and to take the opportunity to put on the table those good wishes and intentions for the upcoming year; since one of the comments and requests from the staff, from the most recent Collaborators Satisfaction Survey, was that the “Posadas”
would include more time to dance, more fun and… well their wish was granted, because celebrations were big, at every hotel, with music bands, a DJ, orchestras, and some of them were even held at very well known discos in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, just the way you asked for it!! Likewise, we enjoyed ourselves toasting the success and wellbeing of each of at every one of the properties.

A
campaign we started in the month of September of 2012, intending to promote the love for our country among our Collaborators, familiarizing them every month with a different State, its culture, its traditions, its music, its traditional costumes, its food. At our hotels, we had lectures where the Collaborators born in those states act as exhibitors, and help to prepare, and serve, the food for September 15, because at every hotel on that date of the month, any of the dining halls of the staff can be visited and enjoy typical dishes from a representative region.

Arriving to Jamaica
ARRIVING TO
JAMAICA
Arriving to Jamaica
K
arisma Hotels & Resorts has arrived to Jamaica, to operate the hotel Seashore Bay Beach Resort, adding it to our properties portfolio. There is something special about Jamaica, which offers its guests a warm, welcoming destination, rich in culture, renown cuisine, and a magnificent setting facing the sea. Jamaica enjoys a strategic geographic location, an exceptional infrastructure, and a talented group of Collaborators, which, once combined, will succeed in becoming the best hotel in the destination. The hotel has 128 rooms at the moment, but once renovations are completed, it will become an AZUL brand property, where guests – both young and old – will enjoy a GI experience with new different room categories and suites with an ocean view and a garden view, two pools, four specialty restaurants, a spa, and activities and entertainment for everyone!! Also, it is located in the famous stretch of one of the best 7 miles of Jamaican beaches washed with crystalline waters. To start off on the right foot, the executives of every department were trained in everything related to the
concept,at the properties in Mexico. For opening day, waving the flag of the Karisma operation, all of the Jamaican staff had embraced the passion which sets us apart, in the performance of their duties – with an amazing spirit of excellence, which gives them the title of “The Pioneers” in this great endeavor, turning their hotel into the pride of the region and the country. The Seashore Bay Beach Resort team personifies the Jamaican hospitality, known throughout the world, and it is the perfect complement to the already credible name of the Karisma Hotels & Resorts. There is a very dynamic mixture of people from various regions of the country at the hotel. Nevertheless, since the familiarization program, scheduled in October and November 2012, the strategic objectives of the company have been achieved, all of which are unified in order to guarantee the success of the Hotel. Let us meet our Jamaican co-workers, to whom we send our warm and affectionate acknowledgement from Mexico, for their hard work in these last months aimed at holding high and with pride, the flag of the best name in service!

ACTIVITIES FOCUSED ON OUR PERSONNEL
T
his quarter, there were many fine moments and events to pamper ourselves (KONSINTIÉNDONOS). Apart from the “Breakfast with the Management” events, where the Collaborators had an opportunity to be with their General Manager for a while, we had the “Cinema Evening”, as well as warm farewells at the end of the various work shifts, before climbing on the bus, with fresh beverages or a nice cup of coffee on those very cold days. We also celebrated “Housekeeper’s Day” in all the hotels, with lots of presents and the attendance of the General Managers to honor them. The fun karaoke came alive to cheer up a day at the Dinning Room, the Christmas Sale of the Spa, with very convenient installments, the campaign “It is a Pleasure” campaign, and the Get-togethers at the end of the work day to go bowling. But we also worked together to improve our own work areas, forming brigades to improve the Dinning Rooms and the Dressing Rooms. What makes this team so great, is that we work… while we pamper ourselves (Konsintiéndonos….)

El Dorado Maroma Anniversary
Going Green
GOING GREEN T O
n November 30, the El Dorado Maroma hotel celebrated its 5th Anniversary, starting with a Thanksgiving mass at 13:00 hours at the chapel of the Hotel. Mr. Sasa Milojevic and his wife joined us for the celebration, along with Mr. José Luis Martínez and Mrs. Dolores López Lira. The event was filled with pleasant surprises, such as the appearance of comedian Héctor “El Cholito” Herrera, who holds barred made everyone laugh and gave everyone such a great time as a family, for one more year at the beautiful El Dorado Maroma. Of course, the traditional Mariachi music couldn’t be absent, as well as enjoying a delicious meal. At the end, acknowledgements were presented to the pioneers of the hotel: • Lic. Ruby Méndez • Chef. Francisco Pérez • Sr. Héctor Ramírez • Sr. Catalizzio Ku
owards the end of the year, we had the Certification of two hotels that were yet to be certified, according to schedule: El Dorado Royale and Azul Fives, whose executive teams and personnel are thoroughly pleased with this fine acknowledgement. On the other hand, El Dorado Maroma received its own acknowledgement by ZOFEMAT, due to its contribution and support to the Solidaridad community. In general, at every hotel we were all in the mood for absolute cleanliness, order, the so-called Operation Ant right before the Christmas holidays, which were devoted to the beach at some hotels and to get internal areas and departments in order – in a word, to care for the environment as always, to recycle trash, to fulfill our Sustainability Culture!

A day in the life of Lisset Lozano
Knowing what is new about GI...
I
n this Issue, we are pleased to introduce you to Lisset Lozano, Assistant to the F&B VP, who was recently acknowledged for having been with the organization for a little over 5 years. Although she was born in Mexico City, she identifies more strongly with Monterrey, where she lived and grew up since she was 4 years old, in the midst of a family comprising two brothers, a sister, and her parents. She graduated with a B. A. in Marketing. The most important thing in her life… her three children: Isabella, 11 years old, and her “twins” Valeria and Luis, 7 years old. With great pride she calls them “my three loves”. They in turn call her “MomDad”, since she is both mother and father to them. She is deeply concerned for showing them the best path to travel down in life, so that they will grow to fight for their ideals, persons who can become independent, without forgetting their family, as the best foundations for any life project… Lisset says she wants them to learn from this early age what she herself has lived: that everyone defines their own destiny and, therefore, anything is possible; what is impossible only requires a little more effort. About her arrival on this side of the country… to this destination, she tells of how she came about 5 years ago, armed with dreams and hopes, with a list of goals for which to strive, and with her children. On retrospect, these have been good years and she thinks that of her list, she has accomplished all of her goals one at a time. How Lisset thinks of herself… A: I think of myself as a friendly person, but not very open. That is, the first step is hard for me, and perhaps that is why, once you get to know me, I project this appearance of sobriety, even of anger, some would say… ha ha ha, but once we get past that, I’m very relaxed. I love to go out with my friends. And, by the way, I have some very good friends here in the company.
A day in life of
LISSET LOZANO
What does working at this organization mean to you? I am proud to work for this company, and to be able to say that even after 5 years I enjoy what I do very much. My boss, Mr. Jeroen Hanlo is key to my work, since I have learned so much from him and I am grateful to him for his trust. We’ve made a great team! My work is a tremendous driver and motivator. It is very gratifying to know that what you do on a daily basis echoes in so many areas; to know that people trust you, because you have proven yourself to be honest, and because I always strive to offer everyone a solution. Working makes me feel complete; it helps to teach my children and become their role model, and it is the best way to achieve my dreams. I believe Food and Beverages is the heart of the company, and what better place to be… than in the heart!

O
n December 26, we began rehearsals for the re-launch of the Fuentes Culinary Theatre. This innovating concept is unique in its kind throughout the world, combining haute cuisine and an exceptional service, with a live culinary show accompanied by an audiovisual TV format, projected on its four giant, high definition screens in real time, which allows everyone in attendance to learn interesting culinary tips from Chef Julio Gomez, just as he prepares the dishes to be sampled, along with extraordinary suggestions for wine- food matching, called “Wine Flights”, by the Theatre’s Maitre D and Sommelier Paul Sykes, who, no doubt, takes the GI experience to the utmost level. The Culinary Theatre presents a different show everyday. It started its operations with three culinary shows (menus): European Tour, Great Islands of the World, and Traditional Mexico with a Twist, each of which is accompanied by the Wine- Food Matching experience, with wines from the prestigious wine producer, Jackson Family Wines.
The Culinary Show “European Tour” presents fully reinvented classic dishes from Spain, France, Greece, the England, and Italy. The “Great Islands of the World” show presents Flavors from Sicily, Hawaii, Japan, Jamaica, and Iceland. Finally, “Traditional Mexico with a Twist” is a show for the palate, where Chef Julio Gomez introduces his guests to dishes from Oaxaca, Street Cuisine from Mexico City, Acapulco, and for the grand finale, the Yucatan Cuisine. On a quarterly basis, the Fuentes Culinary Theatre will host a guest chef from Jackson family Wines, who will present his cuisine accompanied by a Wine Master within the Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series program. Likewise, on the month of March the Theatre will host important events, such as the Cancun - Riviera Maya Wine & Food Festival. We are proud, and certain, that the Fuentes Culinary Theatre will become a favorite of guests at El Dorado Royale and Casitas Royale. Soon the opportunity to attend the show from every property, will be available.
