Dear Colleagues, Welcome to this edition of Kontacto magazine! One of the biggest challenges companies face are: to position themselves and expand to take their value proposition and business models to more places. Every day we face new challenges, projects, programs and activities, during which the value that each of our actions adds to our guests´ satisfaction and promotes their recommendations on social media to maintain the trust of our commercial partners and to be recognized by diverse international organizations in the hospitality industry, is not always immediately apparent. Each accolade inspires us to go further, always willing to face new challenges that will make us grow integrally. We bet on constant innovation of our products and services, on continuously renovating our Gourmet Inclusive® Experience and facilities, and on adding and creating new properties, such as our new Villa Casa del Mar. We believe that, as a company, we are responsible for fostering the wellness of our collaborators, their families and the communities where we operate. Therefore, through the Karisma Foundation, we implement programs that have a positive impact on society. To this end, we launched the Mobile Medical Unit to get preventive healthcare services to those who need them the most. During our Karisma Olympics 2017, we celebrated our values with Passion and, for the first time, our sporting events went continental. We shared this celebration simultaneously in Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Colombia. Our team’s solidarity and fraternity was demonstrated in the aftermath of the natural phenomena that affected Mexico and other countries during September. Karisma is a big, growing company, which is nurtured every day by the energy, positive attitude and professionalism of all of us who are a part of it. We are a multidisciplinary, committed and passionate team. Throughout these 17 years we have worked tirelessly and 2018 brings us new adventures, such as the opening of three new properties in Montenegro. This year-end, I hope you share and celebrate with your loved ones the spirit of fraternity, care and love for others that characterizes us. May we continue to write this success story this coming year and embracing the opportunities that new projects will bring. I thank you all for giving your very best.

KARISMA KEEPS BETTING FOR ITS PORTAFOLIO’S GROWTH IN JAMAICA
E
nIn the previous issue we showed some details about the expansion of our Azul Beach Resort Sensatori Jamaica, by Karisma. The summer was particularly special since we opened the new section joined by friends, colleagues and special guests such as the Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett and John Lynch Senior Advisor in the Tourism Ministry. With Negril’s beautiful Seven Mile Beach as a backdrop, Mr. Rafael Feliz, CEO of Karisma Hotels & Resorts; underlined the company’s commitment to Jamaica, the first country after Mexico where Karisma’s expansion begun “Jamaica has shown its devotion to tourism and its receptivity to foreign investment,” said Mr. Feliz, highlighting the presence of Karisma Hotels & Resorts in other countries including Dominican Republic, Colombia, Montenegro and Croatia. The new section has 149 suites that include swim ups, terraces overlooking the sea and ideal furniture for enjoying a breathtaking view. The modern rooms are decorated in gray and cream tones, with multiple rest areas in turquoise and pink. The bathrooms and dressing rooms include two spacious closets with multiple storage options, delicately decorated with white metallic tiles. The project added seven new restaurants and bars to delight our visitors with our value proposition: Karisma Gourmet Inclusive® Experience. The next big project is Sugar Cane Jamaica, a 1-billiondollar investment for the creation of a store, hotels and entertainment complex spreading over 200 acres in the St. Ann. Region. The construction is set to begin at the end of 2017; Sugar Cane Jamaica will hold Nickelodeon and Margaritaville resorts, among other brands over its 2.5. beachfront kilometers. Karisma is betting on a solid expansion project made possible by a highly qualified team that is committed to our clients and partners, who has a high sense of social responsibility and demonstrates it in every country we are present.

“EVERY SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUAL KNOWS THAT HIS OR HER ACHIEVEMENT DEPENDS ON A COMMUNITY OF PERSONS WORKING TOGETHER.”

The beaches of the Ulcinj Riviera in southern Montenegro were especially welcoming this summer, while the calm winds of the amazing Kotor Bay in northern Montenegro waited patiently for our colleagues to visit and envision the Karisma artistry at its best shining below the stars and striking sunsets. And while Dubrovnik and Makarska Riviera traditionally welcomed our colleagues above the magnificent blue waters of the Adriatic, our Belgrade office relied on sunny days and gourmet moments, whilst London team trusted their smiles and accessories to turn the Karisma fever on at the occasion of the opening of our new hotel in Jamaica while visiting our TUI colleagues.

COUNTING OUR RICHES:
THE FAUNA DIARY OF MAKARSKA RIVIERA
Karisma Hotels Adriatic
A
s a preamble before this true story starts - our Adriatic team follows the same principles and values Karisma does globally, and it just so happens that we would rather keep an old tree smiling and happy than cut it down to expand a terrace and the view, for we know that our guests come back because they know we care. This love transcends from humans to our surroundings.
In Croatia, the vast majority nest on the coast and are generally as species endangered due to habitat loss. Before the modern technology existed and as legends of our forefathers tell us, the swallows were considered a good omen as they were a sign of land nearby and therefore meant happiness and safety to sailors coming back home to their loved ones.
We were well into the summer season when a call came in regarding the swallow issue of the Makarska Riviera resorts. The swallows were nesting and if we know anything about birds, especially small birds, it is that rarely do they choose to coexist near humans unless great love is felt.
Today, they sing happily to our guests in Makarska to align with their smiles knowing full well that if not for the great service, tastes, experience and holiday memories, the guests will keep coming back to hear their happy song, and watch the amazing Adriatic sunsets together.
15
But they chose not only our hotels and resorts, but also our loving guests. The balconies and terraces on daily basis were chosen as homes to new chicks. Swallows in Europe, also known as Birds of Freedom, travel for hundreds of miles from Africa to come to the north in spring, and choose perfect homes in the Mediterranean for expanding their families, staying with us until the last guest leaves for the season.
All that our #KarismaExperience team needed to do is actually relay to guests how lucky they are to spend their holiday with these magnificent birds.

TRAVELIFE CHAMPIONS AWARD 2017:
RECOGNIZING KARISMA’S COMMITMENT TO TAKING CARE OF ITS COLLABORATORS.
W
ithin the International year of sustainable Tourism for Development as declared by the United Nations, Travelife recognized Karisma Resorts of Mexico with the Travelife Champions Award 2017 in the “Caring for its collaborators and protecting Human Rights” category. We are happy to share the good news, which is a result of Karisma’s commitment to ensure its collaborators’’ wellbeing and to be a development factor in the communities where it is present. Travelife highlights the creation of Karisma Foundation A.C., a nonprofit organization focused on healthcare for both collaborators in Karisma’s hotels and business units and the society’s communities where the company is present. With a focus on medial support and the fostering of wellbeing, the institution creates alliances with local and national organizations; this allows the foundation to provide medical care to those in need. This award is a result of a concentrated effort during the last 2 years, during which Karisma has worked with great care launching initiatives to take integral care of its collaborators. This has led to us getting certified as a Great Place to Work (GPTW) and has earned us the Socially Responsible Company distinction (ESR). Our goal is to provide all our collaborators in all the countries where Karisma is present, with a better quality of life, elevate their knowledge, provide them with new professional opportunities and tend to their family needs through the different social and talent development programs that we have developed.
The passion and dedication that each of us has placed in the different locations remind us that this recognition if by and for all of us.

During the Sustainable Development Summit of September 25, 2015, the member States of the UN and world leaders adopted a series of 17 global objectives known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which are specifically focused on eradicating poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, face climate change and ensure prosperity for all. These goals are part of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. The SDG, also known as world goals stem from the Millennium goals (MDG’S), eight goals against poverty that the world made a commitment to reach by 2015. The MDG’S, adopted in 200 are focused on a series of topics that include diminishing poverty, hunger, diseases, gender inequality and Access to water and sanitary services. During 15 years of work, great improvements were achieved in the accomplishment of the MDG’S, which shows the importance of a unifying agenda supported by goals and objectives. The new World Goals and the agenda for sustainable development go far beyond the MDG’S, addressing the fundamental causes of poverty and the universal need for development that is beneficial to all people. Each of us, from our homes, workplaces and daily activities can contribute to making the SDG’s a reality. Karisma Hotels & Resorts, by aligning with the SDG focuses its efforts into a line of action that encompasses all areas of sustainability and in this way, contributes actively to their fulfillment through our commitments to environmental care, social responsibility, social action as well as the efforts and successes of Karisma foundation, from each of our destinations around the world.

CELEBRATING OUR VALUES WITH PASSION ALL AROUND THE WORLD
W
qwe at Karisma love celebrations, especially birthdays! We turned 17 years old on 2017 as a company and made sure to have a huge party with a special edition of our traditional Karisma Olympics 2017. For the first time we celebrated the Olympics simultaneously in Mexico, Jamaica, Colombia and Dominican Republic. Each country personalized them according to their culture, traditions and Sporting activities to make the Olympics a global party where our values and pride of belonging to the Karisma family were the main protagonists. All countries hosted activities in the four categories:
In Jamaica the opening ceremony included an Olympic torch taken through Negril’s Seven Mile Beach and among the special events we held Kayaking and Paddle Board competitions. In Dominican Republic we had Softball, Miss Karisma, In Karisma we Say..., Cocktail, Service and Culinary contests, to name a few. In Colombia we had arena soccer competitions, rumba classes and even a Jenga competition In Mexico all offices and properties hosted at least one event, and this year we added Paintball to the activities!

UNITED TO HELP
#FUERZAMÉXICO S
eptiembre September made a mark in Mexico, two strong earthquakes affected several states in Mexico. The Mexican society responded exemplarily and Karisma joined the solidarity and unity effort to help those who were most affected. The hotels and offices set up collection centers for supplies and provisions and gave the option to collaborators to donate through payroll deductions. The donated money was used to acquire medical supplies and along with the collection centers’ supplies, all items were delivered to the town hall of the Benito Juarez Municipality (Cancun) and to the Red Cross. Four tons of linens were also donated by Karisma’s hotels in Mexico. The donation was channeled to the affected zones of Oaxaca and Chiapas through Cáritas Quintana Roo. Our Le Chique restaurant offered a dinner with cause, where the cover and the additional voluntary donations made by the guests amounted to 5,500 USD which were donated specifically for the rebuilding of homes. The money was donated through the Slim Foundation, which quintupled the money. It is also worth noting that a high percentage of the personnel working in Karisma Mexico’s different business units come from the affected states, so their families were also benefited by our support.
We deeply thank all our collaborators who joined this actions for helping our sisters and brothers. The commitment and solidarity we witness strengthen us as a team and once more demonstrate Karisma’s social responsibility.
