Dear colleagues At every one of our locations, offices and hotels, the feeling of euphoria still reverberates from the recent grand openings of NickelodeonTM Hotels and Resorts, and Sensatori Punta Cana. Thanks to these new unique offerings, we are looked up to as one of the most innovative organizations in our industry. We have been able to integrate - to perfection - a family entertainment experience with the type of luxury vacations that only our unique Gourmet Inclusive® experience can offer. Palaflitos Overwater Bungalows is another gargantuan accomplishment we were able to achieve over the past year. We are the first in all of Latin America to be able to offer the incredible experience of complete immersion in the crystalline turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean. Expectations were great, and our guests were anxiously awaiting this project’s completion, and they weren’t disappointed. With these novel concepts, we have remained at the vanguard of the hospitality industry, and have redefined what it means to go on a luxury vacation. We have many reasons to celebrate, and what better celebration than the one we are preparing for, the Karisma Olympics, that begin on September 12th. We are reminded that the objective of these games is to foster a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competitiveness. Thus, all are invited to cooperate in our continued cultivation of unity and teamwork based on the guiding values our great company engenders. DEJAN PERIC Operations Director, Karisma Hotels Adriatic On the 6th of June, Mr. Dejan Peric was promoted to Operations Director for Karisma Hotels Adriatic. With a background and professional experience in hospitality, Mr. Peric joined Karisma Hotels & Resorts in 2011, remaining in Mexico, supporting our Azul Sensatori, El Dorado Seaside Suites and the highly acclaimed Restaurant Le Chique. At the end of 2012, Mr. Peric returned to Europe, this time to become a part of Karisma Hotels Adriatic as Food & Beverage Regional Manager, supporting the implementation of our high standards there, and ensuring they permeate our Adriatic Region. Since then, he became General Manager of Azul Sensatori Mexico, before returning once again to the Adriatic Region. In addition to his native language, Dejan speaks English and Spanish. His dedication to Karisma coupled with his intimate knowledge of the region is of great value to the operation and management of our properties in the Adriatic. ALEJANDRO LÓPEZ General Manager, Hotel Azul Sensatori Mexico, by Karisma It is our pleasure to announce the promotion of Alejandro López to the position of General Manager of Hotel Azul Sensatori Mexico as of July 21st. He will continue to report to Paula Negrete, Operations Director – Mexico Hotels. Alejandro, who is native to Mexico City, has had a very diverse trajectory in our organization, which began back in 2006, when he became Rooms Division Manager, Resident Manager at AZSM and EDR, Interim General Manager at AZF, Hotel Manager at GRM, before arriving at his most recent post as General Manager of El Dorado Maroma Hotel. He also was instrumental in refining the Six Sigma work methodology in all of our Mexico hotels. Thanks to his expertise and education he was able to develop many very beneficial projects for our company.
JOSLIN FUENTES DÍAZ General Manager, El Dorado Maroma, a Beachfront Resort, by Karisma Also on July 21st, Joslin Fuentes Díaz became the General Manager of El Dorado Maroma Hotel, reporting directly to Paula Negrete, Operations Director – Mexico Hotels. Joslin is also native to Mexico City, and brings Hotelier, Food & Beverage and Sales experience, developed at Intercontinental, Starwood and Hotel Astor, part of the DEMA chain in Belgium. Most recently, she was acting as Hotel Manager at El Dorado Casitas Royale. All the while, she was able to complete her studies in Hotel Management and Food & Beverage at the Swiss Hotel Management School in Switzerland. She speaks English and French and gets along in Portuguese. She has completed many CE training courses, which allowed her to sharpen her key competencies.

PAULO BOJÓRQUEZ Regional Manager, Human Resources, Mexico Region On July 18th, Paulo Bojórquez joined our organization as Regional Manager of Human Resources – Mexico Region, for Karisma Group’s Hotels, reporting directly to Mrs. Estela Paz, Senior Director for Personnel Strategies and Human Resources. Paulo has considerable experience in the hospitality industry, specifically in the Human Resources area, with renowned brands such as PriceTravel, Starwood, Intercontinental and Anderson Group, in various countries such as Puerto Rico, Aruba and Mexico. At the same time, he became certified to teach related courses at Universities and other Educational Institutions throughout Quintana Roo state. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and is also certified as a Green Belt in Six Sigma. His wide array of qualities stem from the development and implementation of key strategies in Human Resources.
DEBBIE GÓMEZ Sales Director, Caribbean and Latin America As of June 21st, Mrs. Debbie Gómez was nudged into a new professional direction, being nominated as new Sales Director for the Caribbean and Latin America. Mrs. Gómez continues to report to Mr. Rienk De Jong, VP of Sales and Marketing. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in Hotel Administration at the Pontífica Universidad Católica Madre, and obtained her master’s degree in Business Management at the University of Connecticut, USA. She is well acquainted with international reservation systems, inventory management and commercial account management.
ENRICO LINDENHAHN Operations Director, Dominican Republic and Jamaica Hotels On June 27th, Mr. Enrico Lindenhahn also took a new direction in his career, now being named Operations Director for our hotels in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. He will continue to report to Mr. Sasa Milojevic, our Vice President of Operations. Mr. Lindenhahn has been a part of the Karisma family for over 7 years already, having been General Manager of Azul Fives Hotel and Director of Operations for New Projects. He had previously developed his international tenure in management positions primarily in Food & Beverage departments.

JAIME DE SANTIAGO Financial Investment Manager Mr. Jaime de Santiago was promoted to Manager of Financial Investments, reporting directly to Alberto Fernández and David Coffey. Mr. Jaime de Santiago has deep international experience in Financial Analysis, Investment Valuation, Business Planning and Operating Efficiencies. He has been part of the Karisma group for 3 years, acting as Senior Financial Analyst. Mr. de Santiago had previously been involved as a Business Consultant with companies such as Everis, Europraxis and Banco Santander.
RENAUD PFEIFER General Manager, Azul Fives Hotel, by Karisma Since June 28th, Mr. Renaud Pfeifer took on the post of new General Manager of Azul Fives Hotel, By Karisma. Mr. Pfeifer will continue to report to Paula Negrete, our Operations Director for Mexico. Mr. Pfeifer’s career has taken him through the USA, Brasil as well as Mexico, for reputable hotel chains such as Tivoli, Sol Meliá and Le Méridien. At our locations, he has mainly acted in Resident Manager and General Manager positions.
MARIO MATHIEU VP, New Product Development and Construction As of August 1st, Mr. Mario Mathieu accepted his new appointment as Vice President of New Product Development and Construction for Karisma Group. Mr. Mathieu will report directly to Mr. Neil Evans. He is well versed in luxury accommodations, having spent 25 years in the field. He developed a very successful career in our organization now, for about 5 years, acting as General Manager for Azul Fives and more recently, as Director of Operations in the Caribbean Region.

ACHIEVE TUI ‘ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION’ CERTIFICATION FOR 2016
O
n June 30th our Sensimar Seaside Suites and El Dorado Royale, a Spa Resort, by Karisma, received the TUI (Touristik Union International) Environmental Champions award for 2016. Every year, since 1996, TUI recognizes hotels that work hard at protecting the environment and put into practice social responsibility policies. The purpose of TUI is to promote conscientiousness and dedication toward sustainability. To participate, hotels must have a Sustainability Certificate recognized by the GSTC (Global Sustainability for Tourism Counsel), whose evaluation also takes into account the perception on the part of the guests, regarding the hotel’s environmental performance.
This merit emphasizes, to environmentally-conscious vacationers, our commitment to social and environmental issues; and they can find us, distinguished, in the TUI Hotels Catalogue.

O
n April 18th we launched a new incentive for our Gourmet Inclusive® Vacation Consultant (GIVC) travel agents. The Cash In Your Points program rewards Elite and Diamond GIVC members by allowing them to ‘purchase’ up to two nights for their clients. Once the purchase is confirmed, agents will receive payment corresponding to the cost of the suite or room purchased. The agents will still receive their normal 21% commission on all of the reserved nights for that client. In all, combining redeemed points and commissions, a single reservation could add up to USD$3,140 in rewards for the agent! To redeem points, clients must reserve a minimum of three nights. There are no blackout dates, but there may be restrictions on the number of points redeemed per night, maximum room occupancy, as well as room categories, which vary depending on which hotel is being booked.
In the words of Mandy Chomat, our Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, “it has always been a priority for Karisma Hotels & Resorts to create new ways of motivating our travel agents, rewarding them for their incredible support. t has been very easy in Karisma, as is in international relations and international groups and companies to generalize with demographics in lack of an easier classification. It is in human nature to classify, brand and epithet, and whilst we search for ways to enrich all our ‘alive and breathing’ languages with new words that will increase the number of dictionary and thesaurus pages, why not interim find a solution in our global village predicament that will define us. So for example: a Zimbabwean-raised, Yugoslav born, South African educated, UK and US system specialized through education, Netherlands lived, female, sister, daughter, employee of Worldwide Marketing Services who fell in love with Karisma in Mexico, and is spreading love through this article about Croatia writing to you my colleagues in for example Columbia - in an edition that is dedicated to Dominican Republic amazing news - Instead, can I just say a member of KarismNation? Yes, much easier, thank you - never underestimating and forgetting the importance systems and visions that brought us here as we search for the definition of KarismNation.

‘Rakija Connecting People’
I
s an all too well known sentence in the region of Central and Eastern Europe not only with thanks to the wellknown brand that made it the slogan, but because Rakija does connect people. It also cures, cleans and of you are lucky enough to be born into a family who makes it – a pillar of heritage and great pride. Rakija or Rakia is a collective term for fruit schnapps or rather brandy in the Easter and Central Europe. The alcohol content varies from commercial and authorized 40%, to the typical homemade 50% and through to again homemade that even sometimes surpasses 80%.

Fruit brandies known as Rakia, in Greece Raki, Bulgaria and Albania - Rakia, in Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia – Rakija, and then further in Romania Rachie and Palinca, or Palinka in Hungary, where as in Czech Republic and Slovakia – Palenka…. Common flavors are plum (Sljivovica – Slivovitz), apricot, grape, and less used peaches, apples, pears, cherries, figs, blackberries and the amazing quince. Further across the region similar spirits are produced, but in its origin the king and queen are the plum and grape which then sometimes gets mixed with herbs or honey or walnuts after distillation.
In all our hotels, this proud drink is served, talked about and sold to guests as their memento of a holiday in the region. The list of flavors is significant, but the King of all Rakijas in Dalmatia on the coast is Travarica, a sophisticated spirit acclaimed as a superb digestive aid and tonic which is infused with a variety of herbs in pure grape brandy. If you can handle it, a shot is definitely not to be missed when travelling eastbound.

Historically, Rakija is poured by the host to their guest as a sign of welcome, and as a digestive. Our grandmothers also use it to cure heartburn, indigestion internally or by soaking it on cloth and applying on neck, chest and feet to cure throat and chest/breathing difficulties, or bring the temperature down when on feet (alternative being cabbage).

In snowy and winter days, Rakija is served – cooked. In Serbia called Sumadija Tea (mountainous region of southern Serbia) which is heated and sweetened with honey or sugar and enriched with spices.

What´s the new at... Allure Chocolat and Allure Bonbon
NEWS ABOUT OUR EXPANSION RESONATE IN LOCAL MEDIA A
llure Chocolat Hotel is making huge waves in Cartagena’s (Colombia) newspapers, with regards to the expansion into the adjoining building that gives us direct access to the Calle Larga (Wide Street). This highlights the advancement in the construction of 37 new rooms there, which at time of writing are 15% completed. We envision the work being completed by the first of July, 2017, during which the hotel will suspend operations. It was announced that they will create a new events salon and a gymnasium, and will expand the existing outdoor terrace. Noé Landa, Hotel Manager, said that this growth will generate 30 additional full-time positions, along with 300 temporary jobs created by the construction phase itself. Raimundo Delgado, the Architect and Project Designer, added that the project’s scope was intended to fit in with the cultural design of the area without clashing with the architectural style of the buildings in the area of Getsemaní., which is located in the historical center of Cartagena.

llure Aroma Mocawa Hotel, by Karisma, was privileged and honored to host the launch event for Ron Viejo de Caldas (Aged Rum from Caldas) “aged 15 Years” in its Special Edition for the 50th anniversary of Quindío region. At this 50th Anniversary Event, the Caldas Liquor Industry launched a Special Edition of one of their most distinguished products, Ron Viejo de Caldas, packaged in a special presentation of “Ron Premium, Gran Reserva Especial 15”, lavishly adorned with a figure of the famous Wax Palm of Quindío, perfect for the gala occasion. At the same time, the Firewater Cristal Xs was released, whose bottle is dressed up with allusions to the Quindian Cultural ornamental gear. Many cabinet ministers from Quindío were present at this special event which was presided by the Secretary of Health for the region, Mr. César Augusto Rincón Zuluaga. Karisma offered some tempting special promotional rates as part of the celebration.

n July 12th, Azul Sensatori Jamaica, by Karisma, completed the renovation of their ‘Back of the House’ section. That is, the Accounting and Human Resource departments now enjoy new offices in which to serve our company better, and warehousing spaces were expanded as well. The biggest plus is that our colleagues now have at their disposal new, spacious and well-designed facilities, including locker rooms, a lounging area, showers, and of course, restrooms. The building was designed to supply everything our fellow employees need to perform while also providing them the comfort needed during rest periods.

n Tuesday, June 21st, a joint effort was made to strengthen Karisma’s strategic alliance with TM Real Estate Group.
To start the day off, Mr. Sasa Milojevic reviewed the history of Karisma from its inception, explaining how each of the different brands that form our chain came to be, pointing out their locations, clubs and offices. He explained our philosophy and values, and highlighted the economic impact that the Prestige Vacation Club at Azul Fives Hotel represents for Karisma
His presentation ended on a high note, recalling the importance of working hand-in-hand with TM Real Estate Group in order to strengthen the foundation laid back in 2008 with the Azul Fives project. Mr. Alejandro Zarfino, Director of TM Real Estate Group made a presentation on how their enterprise came to be recognized as “Best Developer” in Europe for many years. He commented on landmarks in their history, emphasizing their positioning in Europe and underscoring the excitement generated by their incursion into Latin America that all began with the Azul Fives project. He made it clear that the owners of TM Group are very interested in continuing the valued commercial relationship they have with Karisma. They are extremely satisfied with the high quality of products and standards that Karisma has, leading to the expectation of many more years in this alliance, continuing to deliver top notch structures for Karisma. A NEW VERSION OF OUR MOBILE APP BY: ELVIRA ESPINOSA
A
In an attempt to remain at the leading edge of our digital era, in a hyper-competitive world such as the Hospitality Industry, Karisma is preparing to release an updated version of its Karisma Hotels & Resorts Application. Aiming at Total Satisfaction, the new design and user interface with improved loading speed will allow guests easier interactive access to amenities, service locations, special package requests or purchases, right from their own room. Additionally, integration with the “Beacons” placed throughout the hotel is proposed, allowing users to receive ‘push’ notifications of specials and promotions going on anywhere, anytime they are near one of these Beacon points, which are in operation in strategic areas of Azul Beach, El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Seaside Suites hotels. For the launch of this product, our Digital Marketing division will prepare various training courses for personnel involved in customer relations, as they must be well prepared to answer any questions our guests may have regarding this app. The new version is currently available in English and Spanish, and will respond to the language of the device on which it is being installed. It will be available on the respective iOS and Android online app stores.

amaican society is actually the product of a rich mélange of language and customs inherited from their varied ancestors: Taíno Indians, Spanish Conquistadors, English Evangelizers, African populace brought over by colonizers, and later, Chinese and East Indian communities that settled on the island. At Azul Sensatori Jamaica, by Karisma, striving to celebrate local culture and share it with our guests is an aspect that is becoming more and more important for the Gourmet Inclusive® Experience, thereby enriching their stay. So, since the beginning of 2016, we began weekly activities aimed at promoting this unique Jamaican culture. These include: -Patois classes (local creole language with elements of English, French, Spanish and African tongues) for children and adults -Rum sampling – the process of rum distillation and cocktail preparation is explained and local rums are merchandised. -Basket and hat weaving from traditional Jamaican palms. -Tie dying of t-shirts -“Spa Moment” Spa Moment is an activity in which Deidra, from our Náay Spa, dressed up in traditional garb, plays Mrs. Louise BennettCoverley (1919-2006), an important poet, writer, activist and Jamaican culture promoter. In her portrayal, Deidra shares key aspects of the language, customs, history, environment and daily life in Jamaica, all the while promoting her Spa services. Deidra, along with 20 other team members form part of the group of leaders trained by the Jamaican Ministry of Tourism’s “Team Jamaica”, whose objective is to teach and communicate local culture elements effectively, in order to generate interest in this destination and facilitating local merchandise purchases. By means of these initiatives, our “Passion for Sustainability” program generates positive economic, cultural and environmental impact for Jamaica.

It is a touch panel that also acts as a call bell, and from inside the room, the guest has the option to choose a setting of ‘Do Not Disturb’ or ‘Make Up Room’. From the hallway, housekeeping can quickly see the guest’s choice,” explains Carlos Herrera, LAN & WAN Manager for Karisma Hotels & Resorts.

o ensure high quality WI-FI, an access point was installed to better distribute the signal to each room.
