THE FIRST MARGARITAVILLE® ST. SOMEWHERE COMES TO MÉXICO
Pre opening Margaritaville® Island Reserve Cap Cana The Long Process to a Sustainable Life A Sustainable Future
EDITORIAL Through this editorial I would like to share with you my best wishes for peace and prosperity for you and your families. Likewise, I hope we all stay healthy this new year where team work will be relevant for all business units. Now that we are starting 2022, we see good occupancy rates and improvements in all areas, and we can’t help thinking about the importance of joining forces and working in harmony for the organization’s greater good, so all of us can receive individual benefits with global objectives. According to different specialists in the subject matter, team work stimulates innovation, improves productivity, and increases team members satisfaction. Starting the new year with good resolutions and ideas will allow us to thrive in all senses, and definitely get positive results with minimum effort that will allow different teams to have better productivity and attain the next level of excellence on what we do. We need to remember that it is important for all of us to have additional revenue, optimize resources and quality indicators (TripAdvisor, Expedia, Review Pro, etc.). More than ever we need to be responsible with sustainability, remain focused and reinforce our sense of belonging and willingness to improve profitability margins, RevPar and operational benefits. All of the above always focused on the team, in order to align our costs with the objectives, always taking into consideration that recurrent guests are one of the keys to success, through our Gourmet Inclusive, and highlighting the importance of social media (Average Daily Impression, Referral trafficRevenue, Overall Conversion Rate) when getting new reservations. At Karisma Hotels & Resorts we are clear that the key to success, and one of the most important assets, are collaborators in the various business units. We are all part of that excellence team that allows us to face challenges and opportunities together, as well as attract talent to our new hotels. On the other hand, working as a team generates a positive synergy so we need to keep a broad sense of connection, high empathy levels with others and, moreover, we need to be very professional with the communication style we embrace. I firmly believe that it is not difficult to achieve these aspects, but it is important that all of us provide our knowledge that altogether will allow us to promote solidarity, a sense of belonging and global vision for common objectives. I invite you to consider these notes and let’s hope that in 2022 we remain one team, strong and collaborative to easily face any challenges. I would like to close by sharing the famous quote from Michael Jordan, that I’m sure basketball fans might remember.

PASSION FOR SUSTAINABILITY
United Nations Global Compact The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on the CEO’s commitment from signatory organizations to implement universal sustainability principles and take action to accelerate the path towards the Sustainable Development Goals. In 1999, during the World Economic Forum, Kofi Annan (Secretary General of the United Nations) made a proposal to business leaders to start a World Compact of shared values and principles that will provide a human side to the global market. It is a call to companies to align their strategies and operations to the Ten Universal Principles on Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption, to take measurements that promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Today, the World Compact has a crucial role in strengthening the business collaboration with the United Nations. Currently, with more than 14,000 companies and more than 3,000 organizations, with headquarters in more than 160 countries and more than 70 local networks, the World Compact is defending the message that any type of company in any part of the world can play a fundamental role to improve our world. In October 2021, Karisma Hotels & Resorts signed its adhesion to the United Nations World Compact, making it a company that demonstrates its commitment to achieving the sustainability principles. Our Sustainability and Social Responsibility strategy meets and follows up concrete actions to fulfill the 10 principles of the World Compact, and every year we will need to demonstrate that we are applying these measurements with ethics, transparency and consistency.

SECURITY FOR IT
USB storage devices,
CAN THEY BE A THREAT?
When we use technology, regardless of the device or gadget, we can always face risks that compromise our security. That’s why we take precautions and avoid making mistakes. In this article we will talk about flash drives, something we commonly use on a daily basis. Can they be a threat? The use of portable storage devices is a growing reality and raises two main concerns for an organization: malware and data theft. It is extremely easy for an unhappy employee to inject malware or steal critical business information using a flash drive. In order to avoid these things, IT teams must establish strong restrictions to devices with the proper USB security.
What is flash drive control and management? Flash drive management and control is the process of monitoring and restricting USB devices within a network, to protect against internal threats. USB management is essential for data and terminals security and the right USB security software keeps threats off. Flash drive protection. How can you avoid it and how can you protect USB devices? The best way is to know the origins of the files copied onto a flash drive, which means that we must avoid copying files downloaded from the internet or from suspicious origins. If you can’t avoid it, the best thing is to have your antivirus software up to date, highlighting the up to date part, because new viruses and new ways to infect files are always arising. It is advisable that the antivirus is also antimalware to avoid trojans and worms that might steal important information. As an alternative to sharing information, we recommend using a cloud storage service (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc.) where you only need to authorize Access to the final recipient through their email address and the transference will be done over the internet and not through a physical device. Anyway, even knowing the above, if you need to share data using a flash drive, just follow the protection recommendations to have a positive and safe experience.

“The theme of the awards ceremony was resilience”, mentioned Marilyn Cairo, Global Sales Vice president. “It was wonderful to acknowledge and celebrate our appreciated GIVCs who, because of the pandemic, had to reinvent themselves in the last 18 months. It’s been an incredibly challenging moment; we are very grateful to these producers and suppliers”. The main even, the cocktail and gala dinner, plus the awards ceremony were held at El Dorado Royale. This year, the ceremony acknowledged GIVCs in 21 categories, ranging from the best general producers, the best wedding producers, the best producers by Brand, the best producers by region, the Diamond & Elite levels, and a new award called Palm Award, which symbolizes strength and resilience. CREATING A BETTER WORLD
A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE IN
AZUL BEACH NEGRIL, BY KARISMA Our fellow coworkers from Jamaica created a program with the topic “The right environment right now means a sustainable future”, focused on social, health personal, financial and structural activities. Their explanation: We can’t create the right physical environment if we are not healthy (Personal environment [health]), be economically feasible (Financial environment), and have good relationships with others (Social environment).
SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT A team from the Negril police station came to talk about how people who understand a safe environment could bring benefits.
PERSONAL ENVIRONMENT A doctor from the Hanover Health Department was invited to raise awareness about COVID19 vaccines. Team members shared their concerns and were able to get an answer. 110 team members attended.
FINANCIAL ENVIRONMENT Prevision Pros, owner, and CEO explained how the team can reach their objectives and move towards growth within their financial environment.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT On October 1, Jamaica celebrates the National Tree Planting Day. The team celebrated that day by planting local trees in specific areas in the property. For the third year, the staff had the opportunity to turn trash into a garbage dump. The theme for this year was “Everything revolves around the ocean” and each participant had to explain how the items they used to tailor their attire could prevent water contamination. The winning team was Front Office, they received 5 tickets for a boat trip, courtesy of Stanley’s Watersports and a gift basket. Entertainment got second place. A total of 70 members of the team watched the show.

4 ATP TENNIS TOURNAMENTS
AT AZUL BEACH RESORT MONTENEGRO For the first time in Montenegro, 150 tennis players (male children under 15 years old) from all over the world had the opportunity to obtain their ATP points. It was also the first time that these young tennis Montenegro players had the opportunity to get their ATP points in their hometown. Tournaments were celebrated between August 30 and September 26 at Azul Beach Resort Montenegro, in collaboration with the Montenegro Tennis Federation and the Bellevue Tennis Club in Ulcinj. Matches were done in 6 clay courts and all winners received a great award of 15,000 dollars. Azul Beach Resort Montenegro demonstrated that this type of sports event can be celebrated in the complex and all players, teams, staff, and officials from the tournament organization will have all their needs covered. This is also a great way to extend the hotel work season and support local sports tourism. Official tournament delegates reported that Azul Beach Resort Montenegro offers everything they need and more for tennis tournaments. They are particularly surprised with the pool and beach areas, the food variety, and the spacious rooms. Azul Beach Resort Montenegro will continue to support sports events in Montenegro and we already have contemplated two tennis tournaments for next year.

KARISMA FOUNDATION
CAMPAIGN
LIVE PAINLESS Either following an injury or accident, joint wear, obesity, or aging, chronic pain is today one of the main conditions affecting adults.
Access to diabetes care: If not now, then when?
Chronic pain is a continuous or recurrent condition for several months or years. As a consequence, and looking for improvement, we overuse anti-inflammatories that although momentarily bring relief, don’t solve the problem and generate toxicity in our bodies.
Every November 14 we commemorate World Diabetes Day, that is an opportunity to raise awareness on the impact Diabetes has on people’s health and also share what we are doing at Karisma Foundation to prevent, diagnose and manage it.
Today, there are alternative therapies that contribute to family finances, avoiding the need for surgery, and, from the first application, can decrease pain up to 60%. Prolotherapy is a joinst, tendons, and ligaments treatment that consists of an injection of “proliferating” collagen-producing solutions to renew healthy tissue and contribute to proper healing, thus decreasing pain and increasing joint stability. During the month of September, Fundación Karisma, A.C. implemented the first medical brigade to treat collaborators and direct relatives with chronic pain. We had the support of 38 worldwide renown specialists who, through musculoskeletal ultrasound methods, were able to perform 1150 procedures in 3 days. By the end of the week, the greatest satisfaction was to be able to witness so many successful cases in the Company, and that’s why we have obtained the support from Dr. Wajid Burad Fonz, representative of the Prolotherapy Institute, who has supported us by following-up cases through his clinic, and will also bring a group of 37 Latin-American doctors to treat our beneficiaries from February 6 to February 11, 2022. We invite you to take advantage of this great benefit offered by the company to live with no pain.
28
/ Karisma Hotels & Resorts
The topic for the World Diabetes Day 2021 is “Access to diabetes care: if not now, then when?”. We want to raise awareness in all sectors of society about diabetes complications that can be prevented. By joining forces we can make a significant change for more than 460 million people who live with diabetes, and the millions that are at risk, who can access care and continuous support to control their life condition. The main components for diabetes care can be found in the Health Star: Education, healthy eating, self-monitoring, exercise, medications, and psychological support, therefore treatment means more than just taking medication. For the World Diabetes Day, Karisma Foundation had an integrated services week for collaborators living with diabetes. From November 9 to November 12 we offered: vital signs check, capillary glucose check, doctor’s follow-up, lipid profile, glycated hemoglobin, EKG, eye and fondus exams, odontology visits and podiatrists service. By joining efforts we can have the right treatment as well as prevent diabetes by generating healthy environments.
KARISMA FOUNDATION
Karisma was also present in the Caribbean locations to satisfy the staff needs through health campaigns: In the Dominican Republic we had the traditional child health day, as we do it every year, at the Nickelodeon Water Park, where more than 200 of our collaborators’ children were treated. The children had fun with the clowns and games, and enjoyed the various recreational activities while they waited for their turn. Food and refreshing beverages were offered. At the Santo Domingo offices, there were different awareness presentations and events for the Brest Cancer campaign. While in Jamaica, there were informative talks about COVID and the vaccination process in coordination with the government.
